In his fantasies the libruls of San Francisco begged him to stay and he looked at them with a cool grin on his face and said “Let that sink in” as he came in his pants.
San Francisco says ‘good riddance’ as X prepares to leave

“Turn around!” they begged him, as he strode slowly towards the desert sun, but he knew enough of Lot and of Orpheus, that it would only bring them ruin if he did. So heavy was his heart, that he glanced back with melancholy love, and thus the fair city of San Francisco turned to salt. He kept on walking into that desert sun, a heavy heart keeping him anchored to calls of vultures naysaying his poor sense of direction…
(Honestly good riddance to both. I have never seen more narcissists in my life than I have in SF.)
captainlezbian@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Rich people really seem to think that them just having shitloads of money in a location makes that place better. I’m a midwesterner and even I know San Francisco has serious issues from how in about a generation or two it went from a working class industrial and military city to home of several of the wealthiest companies and filled with enough upper working class people to skyrocket cost of living.
So to Elon, don’t bring X to my city either
Kalysta@lemm.ee 2 weeks ago
And they are now bringing that problem to Texas. Along with a bunch of liberals.
Good. Texas is a big enough state it should be blue.
Hugin@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Yeah I think he is expecting an Atlas Shrugged moment. where everything collapses as the intellectuals (him) walk away from the foolish socity.
SLVRDRGN@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
It’s funny, I just finished Atlas Shrugged and it’s crazy how Ayn Rand got it wrong about those who can “do” must also have the highest moral standards.

By Nazi-toddler, don’t let our tolerance and diversity hit your ketamine asled ass on its way out, you piece of human garbage.
FrostyCaveman@lemm.ee 3 weeks ago
He’s addicted to ketamine? I would’ve guessed cocaine
Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 3 weeks ago
I believe the quote I read from someone who knows him was something like “He microdoses ketamine daily, and macrodoses at parties”
kungen@feddit.nu 3 weeks ago
I have no doubts that he frequently does that, as well as other controlled substances. But it’s okay for him to abuse drugs; he’s rich and powerful after all! Though it would be interesting to see his head under an MRI with T2 and see how many Olney’s lesions he has.
Tacos_y_margaritas@lemmynsfw.com 3 weeks ago
I’m pretty sure it’s both.
14th_cylon@lemm.ee 3 weeks ago
Well now when some rando on the internet told you otherwise, you know better :D

I hate that ketamine has to be catching so many strays lately… Don’t blame K for this idiot.

it is impossible to operate in San Francisco if you’re processing payments
Is it though? He talks like he still runs PayPal. All Twitter sells is adverts, blue ticks and hate.

"It’s impossible to operate in San Francisco, they expect you to pay your rent "
buddascrayon@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Yeah I wonder how many billions of dollars in incentives did Texas Republicans promise that douchebag in order to get him to move to their State. And how many Texans are going to have to foot that bill.
vxx@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
He wants to turn twitter into Wechat, which is used for paying basically everything in China. In San Francisco you can’t just get rich by funneling money, you have to pay taxes on it.
phoenixz@lemmy.ca 3 weeks ago
debtfair share, you mean. His billions of debt that have about a billion of interest per year is another story

X is going to be driven into the ground
overload@sopuli.xyz 3 weeks ago
I’d love to see it fail completely. I’m hoping that musk makes it a site that you have to pay a subscription to see anything at all on there so everyone can finally give up on it.
gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 3 weeks ago
You saw the investor list, right? There’s a LOT of people on there who miiiiight not consider direct financial profitability to be the point of their investment.
shiftymccool@programming.dev 3 weeks ago
I think it would awesome if it failed so much, Musk was forced to sell. Then, it explodes in popularity
BrianTheeBiscuiteer@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
They’re walking right into new TX regs for social media. I’m already off the platform but any platform that stops me to upload my driver’s license then I’m done with it.
PalmTreeIsBestTree@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Then I guess all the Nazis will go back to stormfront.

Going to be?
db2@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
What benefit does musk get from killing twitter? He’s getting something out of it.
Shdwdrgn@mander.xyz 3 weeks ago
After the string of bad decisions he’s already made with this company, what makes you think he’s able to make good choices now? He has an echo-chamber where nobody can tell him to GTFO and that’s literally the only thing he’s ever getting out of it. It’s kinda like if someone paid an obscene amount of money for a junker car, then paid 10x that amount to put vanity plates on it.
Lightor@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Yeah, controlling the town square. It’s worth him sinking money into it if he can get favorable tax laws passed as a result.

He really is the DJ Khaled of technology… which is not a compliment. Can people not just tell “certain sections” of Texans that an uppity African American with a couple of baby mommas and lots of money is moving in to their neighbourhood? And bringing his “business interests” with him too.
ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
He really is the DJ Khaled of technology
Damn, this is fucking spot on. I’ll be Musk wouldn’t make it to the end on Hot Wings either.
TallonMetroid@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Didn’t Apartheid Lonnie refuse to pay rent for the office space for a while there? Did that ever get resolved or is he still defaulting on the rent?

I’d like to see the answer to this

FUCK!
Fades@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
it literally could not be anywhere else. Texas is a safe-space for oligarchs and bigots. That’s why Elon and Joe Rogan and all these other asshats left CA for TX.

Considering how many Bay Area tech workers with zero morals leave cali for Texas purely for lower taxes and how Texas loves that, I’m sure they do

Although i hate hearing about him, i do like seeing his face and body rapidly deteriorating.

A s that’s after he spends a ton of money to get it fixed. If he weren’t rich, he’d be bald by now, for example.
Entertainmeonly@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 weeks ago
Ya, he identifies as a non-bald man. He had gender affirming care to make sure his hair is there and full.

I would be happy if all tech left the city. It used to be a hipster village of social non challants and detected alternative social movements. A shining, hairy, culty, body odor having, punk rock city on a hill.
The tech takeover ruined the city and contributed directly to the epidemic levels of homelessness seen because it made the city effectively so expensive non millionaires can’t survive there. Most long time san Francisco families ended up moving out.
Take all the rest of tech with you please Mr. Musk. Make San Francisco an affordable city again.
BallsandBayonets@lemmings.world 2 weeks ago
It’s too late, the landleeches have already taken over. Any city remotely worth living in is too expensive to live in, and will remain that way until we eliminate the landleech class.

Ledivin@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
This will have very little effect on SF. All of their staff that was here are going to stay here - they’re not going to follow fucking X to whatever ass-backwards state Musk chooses 😂🤣
So, to recap:
Hell yeah, of course this is a win.
EnderMB@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
I imagine most of whoever is left at Twitter is on a visa, so yeah, they probably will follow Musk wherever he says to go. The alternative is people rip their families away from their homes that they’ve probably built over the years and move back to their old country.
Now, if Biden were to grant the power to protect re-employment to other companies for those on L visas, Musk is probably utterly fucked.
ChaoticEntropy@feddit.uk 3 weeks ago
Anyone hardcore enough to still be working at that dumpster fire is there for the long haul, they will follow Formerly Twitter in to the gates of hell, seemingly.
ChapulinColorado@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
I’m guessing some of them (if on work visas) don’t have a lot of mobility. That doesn’t mean they will be as productive as someone else. Seeing colleagues go to other companies and being treated better on day one has a toll on worker morale.
Wispy2891@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
At this point, for how he treated his employees, we can assume that most of the ones left are visa hostages that would be deported the day after being fired or incompetent people that faked their way to the spot and can’t find another job that pays the same. Or musk stans, but he fired even that simp that slept in the office floor in order to be more “productive”.
They are trapped and follow him everywhere
Dsklnsadog@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 weeks ago
It’s really hard to have a different point of view when I see your comment has 83 upvotes. I’m just gonna say: yeah, it’s not a big deal, but it shows or start a trend.
Lightor@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Of? Companies leaving CA due to liberal laws? That’s kinda been CA’s thing since forever.
cheese_greater@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Its weird Peter Thiel hasn’t followed him. Both of them are just awful, you’d think they’d synergize
