- Comment on Zelensky says wants to end war by diplomacy next year 23 hours ago:
I mean without support from the USA and the EU the Russians will steamroll Ukraine. So it’s better to end it now that there is still some room for bargaining than just let putin win.
If the EU has just a bit of spine we’ll take over the burden. Otherwise Ukraine will be a stepping stone for putin to go and invade the rest of the ex-URSS countries.

Yes but my mastodon is either empty or full of Nazis until something gets banned. Threads is a bunch of old white dudes lecturing everyone about everything. On bsky I found most of the stuff I care about. Unfortunately that’s where people are going.

The Streaming community Is completely unknowable to me. I would hazard a guess that vertical streaming is for smartphones and horizontal for TV/computer?

Wasn’t origins also JarJar Abrams’ movie?

I had a FireWire hard drive! I remember I bought specifically the enclosure that supported both standards since my motherboard had a FireWire port and on paper it was faster than usb! Too bad the HDD was as slow as molasses

As a metric-raised guy I find extremely difficult following the tutorials of woodworkers that start putting 2feet 3 inches and 9/16 in the measurements that converts to 700,0875mm wich i guess is an approximation of 70cms

- Comment on Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe says too many carmakers are copying Tesla 3 months ago:
How much money you’re getting from your parts I guess depends on the car you have.
The costs for the conversion kit also depend on the car and how much performance you want from it. There some companies selling the basic stuff (battery, BMS, inverter, motor) but the you must figure out how to put it, fabricate parts etc. So I’d say it’s a rich people hobby…
There used to be a french start-up that was building a standard conversion kit for the most sold cars, but it disappeared :(

- Comment on Youtube stopped working for me today when using uBlock Origin in Firefox or Vivaldi with anti-ad enabled. 4 months ago:
Yep, my entertainment is 90% YouTube and the rest some show. On YouTube I find everything: from a dude that does reviews of air filter for cars to somebody explaining some obscure Japanese woodworking techniques to the omniscient Indian dude that explains complex programming concepts. If there was fragmentation I wouldn’t be even able to find stuff, like in the early days of the internet that you knew the website existes because somebody shared the URLs in some usenet or some forums, before search engines became a thing.

- Comment on Tesla to lay off everyone working on Superchargers, new vehicles 6 months ago:
Dude it’s how many years of “electrify America” project that is supposedly supported by the biggest car manufacturer and the network is terrible. Nobody will go compete with nacs because Tesla has the market penetration and it’s ubiquitous. I guess the mon-tesla will change the plugs on some select locations and that’s it. But we’ll see how it goes with the supercharger network after musk fired the entire team…
- Comment on Tesla to lay off everyone working on Superchargers, new vehicles 6 months ago:
My point is that everyone if nacs is open, it is a monopoly. Tomorrow Tesla decides to ask 100$ per month to access the network and you can’t go somewhere else. In EU the mandatory plug is the same for everyone and Tesla chargers must have ccs2 and Tesla cars must have ccs2…
- Comment on Tesla to lay off everyone working on Superchargers, new vehicles 6 months ago:
How many non-tesla nacs charges are there?
- Comment on Tesla to lay off everyone working on Superchargers, new vehicles 6 months ago:
In EU the plug is standard for everyone and Tesla users either have a ccs2 plug on their car or they bring an adapter if their car is older
