- Comment on A TikTok alternative called Loops is coming for the fediverse | Users own their content, and Loops doesn’t sell or provide videos to third-party advertisers or train AI on them. It will be open source 2 weeks ago:
the benefit i can see is that instead of having to share out to other social media, you can just see it in any fediverse account you have thanks to activity pub which eliminates one of the barriers to being viral.
that said i don’t think it will get mainstream appeal.

- Comment on X's idiocy is doing wonders for Bluesky. 3 weeks ago:
jack didn’t found bluesky he was just on a board which provided some early funding; he had no role in the development.

bsky is currently the only social network with a woman of colour ceo, which is pretty awesome imo (i hate how people always try to incorrectly say jack dorsey created it when it erases jay’s work)
- Comment on X's idiocy is doing wonders for Bluesky. 3 weeks ago:
dorsey left because he wanted to moderation and for it to be the wild west like twitter though…

- Comment on Google looks to be fully shutting down unsupported extensions and ad blockers in Chrome, such as uBlock Origin – which might push some folks to switch to Firefox 1 month ago:
We’re going to have a serious problem on our hands soon with compatibility. I’m a software dev and I’m already seeing a few issues here and there where Chrome is being treated as the default expected browser and features don’t work on Firefox.
It’s basically IE6 and ActiveX all over again.

- Comment on Juno for YouTube has been removed from the App Store 1 month ago:
this sort of thing is exactly why mozilla, firefox, and - more specifically - a non-profit internet is essential to it’s survival. two for profit ad-driven companies being the gatekeepers of the internet is horrible.
