Hey, ain’t nothing wrong with a trailer home. My dad just bought one for his first home he’s owned in his 60s.

No, that’s his grandma’s house.

I don’t like to make fun of where people live, because everyone has different circumstances. But it is severely mind-boggling that people who do live in rural, less economically-inclined areas think that a narcissistic, city-slicking conman has their best interests in mind. This person may remain in that mobile home forever while Trump and his cadre of billionaires continue to siphon them for every penny, and that’s depressing.
Rothe@piefed.social 5 hours ago
Yes, but they both share fond memories of racism and other forms of bigotry.
shalafi@lemmy.world 14 hours ago
Before Trump went off on Obama and immigrants he was the East Coast Liberal™ these people loathed. I could maybe see younger folks being fooled, but FFS, did no one know what Trump was like in the 80s and 90s?! He was America’s laughing stock. The man released Trump, The Board Game and the entire country laughed our ass off.
Bloom Country, easily the finest snapshot of 80s America, ended in 1989 with Trump buying out the comic strip and firing all the characters, so unseriousness and ludicrous all we could do was laugh.
Anyway, if anyone wants to know what America was really like in the 80s, Bloom Country is readily available online. And here we are with the air traffic controllers, AGAIN!

Depressing but not undeserved. These people have some less than altruistic reasons for electing the con man.
kelpie_returns@lemmy.world 15 hours ago
*Some of these people. Many have been outright deceived, and many others (people living in trailers, I mean) are and have long been fully opposed to all of this lunacy.

But being poor is how you know they’re wrong! 😑
CarbonIceDragon@pawb.social 17 hours ago
If one wanted a generous interpretation, it could be pointing out the irony in a poor person advocating for the interests of the rich that keep people like themselves in that position.

I got fucking blasted here for saying a meme calling Charlie Kirk wife a slut sexist.
Scubus@sh.itjust.works 1 hour ago
I havent seen any evidence of her being a slut, i havent looked either though. Even if she is, slut is such a prudish and childish insult. Anyone who uses it unironically is a bad person, doesnt matter the context imo.
Now as for the fact that she was dating charlie kirk? Shes an absolute piece of shit. I dont want to say she deserved to have her husband killed in front of her, her kids 100% did not. But at least for her she had the choice of not dating someone people would want to kill and instead she chose to ally herself with nazis, so pardon me as i dont shed a tear for her.

Oh I guess we shouldn’t be mean to people who are actively destroying our way of life through their ignorance. Oh ok so sorry.

I’d rather live there than the apartment I am in. 🤷♂️
lightnsfw@reddthat.com 2 hours ago
Yeah, I’m renting 1/4th of a basement in a shitty housing development. I’d kill for that guys trailer.
shalafi@lemmy.world 14 hours ago
I’d live in a shack in the woods before an apartment. What an awful way to spend one’s only chance at life.
Scubus@sh.itjust.works 1 hour ago
Really depends on your stage in life, your mindset, and what drives you. I live in a fairly rural area, within a 1 mile radius of my house there are probably less than 100 people living. That being said i have fairly limited access to natural nature, the forests here are artificial and it definitely shows in their subpar natural beauty. But thats besides the point im trying to make.
Im planning on getting an apartment on the outskirts of a nearby city because i have an emotional need for socialization that is not being fulfilled here. My neighbors are all right wingers and i generally dont judge people for living in trailers but GOD DAMN do my neighbors make it difficult. It seems every day there is what i can only deacribe at trailer trash drama. Between my elderly drunk and methed up neighbors getting into fistfights, to my neighbors openly asking if ive seen their escaped cock fighting roosters, to three of my neighbors seperately being arrested for child molestation, to letting their dogs maul anything that moves so their dogs are contantly being put down, to flying a dont tread on me flag, two trump flags, a thin blue line flag, and another flag i dont recognise with trump face on it, all while complaining that the democrats are taking their foodstamps so they can put it into the undeserving welfare system. I have come to the conclusion that i simply do not want to interact, even in passing, with any of my neighbors, but i need to socialize with someone. My goal is to move to a city where it is socially unacceptable to behave that way for fear of someone beating your ass for being a nazi or child or animal abuse. That, and midnight walks massively help my life long depression, and I romantisize the neon lights and street lights of the big city. Id LOVE to walk down the local river path with all the lights.

Let's not besmirch the venerable shack in the woods.

You could also see nature from the ceiling, floors, and inside as they scurry out of your way to the breakfast nook.

I’m not sure I understand. Are you saying that conservatives in Russia are homeless?
felixwhynot@lemmy.world 9 hours ago
I think they’re saying “It’s not an American conservative posing, it’s actually a Russian troll”
Dorkyd68@lemmy.world 13 hours ago
Talkin bout, “you got tds man”
These people are so dumb its infuriating. Because there is no, I mean zero reasoning with them. Its like talking to a wall. "Abortion should be illegal " idk man, if your sister had aborted you then we wouldn’t be in this mess
ivanafterall@lemmy.world 13 hours ago
I’m not anti-trailer. I lived in more than one, including a trailer park.
I’m very anti-dogs being neglected, with chains around their necks, tied to trees with 6 foot leashes, etc.
I can’t do much about it maybe, but I can definitely close you in my car door rather than giving you an Uber ride, asshole.
Hegar@fedia.io 17 hours ago
That house looks sweet! Cool tree right there, plenty of nature, even a ramp. My appartment is less ada compliant than that.
Also this post is some middle class bullshit.

Yup, but he owns it without a mortgage, probably owns the land it's on, and his taxes are half of mine. So...
Bo7a@piefed.ca 3 hours ago
Almost no chance the land is owned. You don't buy lots in most trailer parks, you rent them. And that trailer is worth about 3grand on the open market (which he could never afford to tow off the lot, negating any value it had), has no heat or AC, the floor has failed in the bathroom, and the walls are starting to bulge from mould. But the lot rental is cheap, and the trailer was left behind when pa drank himself to death at 37.
kadaverin0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 hours ago
I grew up in a trailer and I would not recommend them to anyone. They’re poorly manufactured with cheap materials and begin showing wear and tear quicker than the average house.
shalafi@lemmy.world 14 hours ago
Lived in some truly shitty houses. One was condemned the minute I moved out and we had had to cut glass and put windows in when we got there. But it was more or less in one piece.
Lived in a trailer for 5 years before getting this Habitat home. God. Damn. Hated it. It was in fair condition to begin with, but everything just fell apart. Damn near burned down one night when the HVAC electrical started burning through the insulation. All that and yet we had a great landlord!
Nothing is standard vs. a regular house, everything is harder to repair, and ironically costs more to repair. I’d do it again if I lost this house though. Wouldn’t take an apartment, no way.
sentient_loom@sh.itjust.works 15 hours ago
At least he owns a house.
SoloCritical@lemmy.world 14 hours ago
Does he though?

Some Reddit mods live in no better places. 🙃
Cornflake@pawb.social 16 hours ago
In this market? Can’t blame 'em. If that’s what it takes to have a space to live, so be it.
Thedogdrinkscoffee@lemmy.ca 16 hours ago
There are a LOT of people who would love an upgrade to ANY home.
papalonian@lemmy.world 17 hours ago
It’s either this or a giant brand new home in a manicured gated community, there is no in between
shalafi@lemmy.world 13 hours ago
Travel the back country highways of Alabama and you’ll see it is like that. Alabama has improved drastically in the last 10-years, but the wealth gap is right there in plain view.
Trailer, trailer, trailer, beautiful home, trailer, 2 beautiful homes, trailer, trailer, on and on.

Counter point, smaller houses with more green space would be a great thing overall.
IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 11 hours ago
not is they are so isolated you need a car to get anywhere. make a property city or town not the bs American suburbia or trailer parks
HeerlijkeDrop@thebrainbin.org 17 hours ago
Well, I can't afford even a small house in the foreseeable future and that trailer looks cozy, except for that TRUMP poster. Ngl, now I want that

Y’all have houses?
Snowpix@lemmy.ca 17 hours ago
Needs at least 2 more broken down parted-out pickup trucks or cars, several dozen Trump and America flags, and much more random junk all over the lawn. Bonus points if none of said vehicles or junk have moved in years.

You think I give a shit what the home of those that use “libtard” seriously looks like!? (Assuming we’re not talking about the over the top, bootlicking signs of adulation for a politician that hates them that adorn so many MAGA households)
tidderuuf@lemmy.world 17 hours ago
I can’t see the house of the guy calling me a NIMBY.
tangonov@lemmy.ca 1 hour ago
Aw man, they own a home too? 😅
