- Comment on I feel like Expedition 33 is overrated [minor spoilers] 1 hour ago:
I expressed almost the exact same thoughts around the game’s release after playing it (before it won the awards). The main thing that kept me going was the music and the story; and the story kinda fell flat for me once you discover the truth of the world. Certainly a 7/10 game, but not a 10/10 like the media around it suggests.

I haven’t made it that far into the game since before the final part of it was finished. I just haven’t been able to get the awesome RNG I had in that run to live long enough 🤣

How the hell did they manage to go from this to the movie from 95? It doesn’t even look cyberpunk. 😮

Used to have a tool specifically to route my dynamic IP to something static, without buying a domain name, back when I first hosted a website on my own regular home PC as a teen called “No-IP.”
Not sure if it’s still a thing.
- Comment on SKG Publisher Warning — browser tool that warns you when a publisher kills games 1 week ago:
Technically, Steam could also have this happen if the rights holders demand they stop distributing their game entirely, unless they have a clause in their specific contracts to let Valve keep giving it out to people who bought it forever.
- Comment on SKG Publisher Warning — browser tool that warns you when a publisher kills games 1 week ago:
They couldn’t take it away from you but they could tell GOG to stop selling and distributing it, which would mean you’d need to have it backed up already or you won’t be able to obtain the offline installer again from GOG.
- Comment on SKG Publisher Warning — browser tool that warns you when a publisher kills games 1 week ago:
Yeah? The majority of the IPs of games sold on GOG are still owned by someone that isn’t CDPR and they could cancel whatever agreement they had to sell their stuff on GOG. Seems highly unlikely tho, since almost none of them cost anyone anything to keep selling as they don’t do anything online or, if they do, is P2P stuff or dedicated servers the players themselves run. The games that get killed generally have some kind of always online component and the publishers simply don’t want to pay for the servers anymore, nor do they want to spend time retrofitting them to not need those servers to be played.

Can’t stop those 3D printer pens, either. Someone could one day be literal when they say they are gonna draw a weapon.

This is something you can easily do from the command terminal. For Windows, use Tracert. Linux and Mac, maybe even iPhone and Android have their own commands to run a trace route, too (I don’t know them off the top of my head).

I fired up Stellaris and I’m kinda annoyed at how much has changed since I last played. Like you don’t even have the FTL options any more. I specifically wanted to use the gates this time and was confused as to when and where you’re asked to choose that stuff; looked it up and found it’s not a thing anymore. Along with a few other fun things I loved about the game at launch.

Most of them are just UE5 games and I can tweak the engine.ini file to kill some of the new features that make it run like ass like Lumen. The ones using their own shit, tho… ugh. 😩

- Comment on How long did it take certain inventions from sci-fi to materialize? 5 weeks ago:
I can not remember the story, but it was from the 1920s or 1930s and I was astonished at just how close to reality it predicted a lot of stuff. Like cell phones and personal computers, as well as getting very close to how they have affected society.
Keep wanting to say it was by Ray Bradbury, but it was at least 10 years prior to his first published work. Might have been Lovecraft, actually… That’s the only author I definitely remember reading a lot of from around that time period. 🤔
