I have a feeling Bethesda thought they were going to have a hit with Starfield, and when it was came out to painfully average reviews, they really had to think about their design philosophies. Or they didn’t think about them at all and ES6 will be just as painfully average. We’ll see.

It also came out that Tencent was investing in this game, which doesn’t surprise me. Also makes the game’s reveal at TGA make way more sense.
- Comment on How do I make a dog mean? Not that I want that but would kind of like for him to also be our protector much as his. I don't want to hit him or deprive him though he is just sometimes tooo nice. 4 days ago:
I agree with the commenter who said dogs usually have a sense for danger. If someone is breaking into your home, your dog will be the first to know, and then let the household know. There’s some statistic I can’t recall exactly, but people are less likely to continue breaking into a home if a dog is barking (like a German Shepherd barking, not a Chihuahua
The temperament of your dog also largely depends on its breed. Some dogs are friendlier than others, or some are perhaps more suited for protection than others. If you want a family guardian, you’ll probably have to invest (money and time) in the breed + training for said dog.
Your pup being “too nice” isn’t a problem, it sounds like you have a happy, friendly dog for your family.

I’d like to spin up Jellyfin, but Plex has tv apps for the non techies in my group ;/

Regarding CGNAT and Port Forwarding: I too am behind CGNAT with my ISP, and my solution to this is renting a cheap VPS (I use Contabo, others might have different recommendations) and installing Pangolin. It’s a tunneling software that uses some UDP fuckery to hole-punch straight through the network with their Newt tunnels. I use this so my friends and family can access my Plex and Overseerr requests.

Nuh-uh. Ketchup is made from tomatoes. Tomatoes are vegetables. Vegetables are healthy. Checkmate!

The only person I’ve ever heard of complaining about the Valve/Steam “monopoly” and their 30% dev cut is Tim “I think AiGen CSAM is okay” Sweeney. And who gives a fuck what that diddler apologist thinks.

Shameless plug for Scrandle, the daily “dle” game where you choose the superior scran (stadium food) based on the community’s votes.
Anyways, it’s really shown me how awful British food is. And as an American (sorry), just how fucking expensive our own food is.

- Comment on Freezing soup in glass mason jars? 4 weeks ago:
Ah yeah the bags could be a little awkward in a lunch box or bag. I’d be worried about something poking a soup bag after it thaws, hemorrhaging soup into my lunch box 😅
I’d suspect the jars should do you just fine, especially if you’re looking for single servings.
- Comment on Freezing soup in glass mason jars? 4 weeks ago:
We use freezer zip-lock bags for stuff like soup. Allows us to pack the bags flat in our big standing freezer to take up way less room. As for the jars, we have kept jams and jellies in jars in the freezer for years without issue.

- Comment on Self-hosting in 2025 isn't about privacy anymore - it's about building resistance infrastructure 1 month ago:
I agree with your post 100% I think. Removing oneself from big tech/data services like Google and Microsoft is resisting the regime. It’s especially useful for folks that may not be able to get out and protest, meet with their representatives, etc.
As for me, I’m running my *arr/media stack for myself and my close friends and family. Fuck Disney, Netflix, and Paramount. For our household, HomeAssistant keeps the lights on and SyncThing backs up our files to the NAS.
- Comment on Is this even a question? 1 month ago:
You don’t go to WH during normal business hours. You go in the wee hours of the morning or very late in the evening under the influence of your substance of choice.
It doesn’t surprise me to learn that it’s a less dramatic place to work. All of the staff is ready to kill at any moment, I wouldn’t bring drama either 😅

- Comment on Plex (or Jellyfin) + Pangolin help needed 2 months ago:
I figured it out!!
It was simple. I just told Plex to allow the 172.18.0.0/24 subnet. It’s always something simple huh.
Thanks for pointing me at the logs. Sometimes it all looks like gibberish when you’re learning, then you stop and read and search. Have a wonderful evening! (and the 10000 years of excellent luck, too!)
- Comment on Plex (or Jellyfin) + Pangolin help needed 2 months ago:
The only logs from Pangolin are from me accessing
https://overseerr.dom.tld. From Plex’s GUI console though, I get this:Request: [172.18.0.2:46974 (WAN)] GET / (6 live) #18eb GZIP Signed-in Completed: [172.18.0.2:46974] 401 GET / (6 live) #18eb GZIP 0ms 464 bytes (pipelined: 1)That 172.18.0.2 is the IP of the Newt container (that subnet is its bridge network, anyway). So it’s making some request to Plex and receiving a 401?
From Mozilla:
The HTTP 401 Unauthorized client error response status code indicates that a request was not successful because it lacks valid authentication credentials for the requested resource.
So what would cause Plex to throw a 401?
