If you’re just using it for that, install Linux Mint on it. I have a 2010 MacBook that runs Mint great with no upgrades
- Comment on I watch the first Star Trek Discovery episode, I didn't like it. 1 week ago:
No one will ever convince me that Nu-Trek isn’t an alternate universe.
Simply for the fact that Starfleet decided to retrofit the Enterprise with buttons, knobs, and CRT screens before giving it to Kirk? Makes no sense.

Yeah I have no problem with punching down on people who punch everyone around them
- Comment on Energy drinks 3 weeks ago:
It’s gross but, unless they evaporated a bunch of the water, it’ll be somewhere in the middle of the most and least energy-filled drink in there when it comes to density.

I’m using 2 old laptops for a Jellyfin server. One runs Jellyfin, Sonarr and Radarr. The other runs Jackett and Transmission. I’m looking to add a third to handle Sonarr and Radarr and let the original one do just Jellyfin.
I have no backups except for the ones Jellyfin, Sonarr, and Radarr create 🤷♂️

Oh I guess we shouldn’t be mean to people who are actively destroying our way of life through their ignorance. Oh ok so sorry.
- Comment on Microsoft's decision to axe Windows 10 is driving Apple PC sales growth — users buy Macs instead of AI PCs despite Microsoft’s push for Copilot+ PCs 1 month ago:
The command key is basically the control key in MacOS and most of your basic commands are the same.
- Comment on Trump says a Canadian ad misstated Ronald Reagan’s views on tariffs. Here are the facts and context 1 month ago:
It really doesn’t take anything out of context. It’s an excerpt from a 5-minute speech. Here, you can watch it and decide for yourself:

We should do more traditional things… like living life without oil

Trump Derangement Syndrome should be when you agree with and defend everything the deranged pedophile says.

Get it from the library?

I knew about the containers, which I’ve been using for a long time now. How is this different?

Well, at first it was Madeline Stilwell and that sweet sweet mommy milk

Ok, then I separate animated and comedy :p

I like Lower Decks, but it’s not old Trek. Strange New Worlds is great, but I’m so tired of prequels and reboots and blah blah blah

New crew. New ship. Post-DS9. Not an animated comedy. That’s all I want.

They also make you sign in to account on their servers to watch media on your own hardware for some reason, which is why I went with Jellyfin
- Comment on Why do some gamers invert their controls? Scientists now have answers, but they’re not what you think 2 months ago:
StarFox on the Super NES (or maybe N64) had inverted controls that couldn’t be changed. I could never go back after I got used to it.
I just tell people to view it like you’re controlling your neck, not your head. You pull your neck back, your line of sight goes up, you push your neck forward, your line of sight goes down.

I didn’t like her becoming the Neo of Star Trek.
If this weren’t an alternate universe, I might be upset about this mindmeld power that Spock forgets about.
- Comment on The Job Market Is HellYoung people are using ChatGPT to write their applications; HR is using AI to read them; no one is getting hired. 2 months ago:
Yeah it’s not completely dead. I work as a freelancer and I haven’t applied for a job in years, yet I have… 8? I don’t even know any more. Most of my work comes from people that say, “hey I know a guy that need someone for such-and-such gig, are you available?”
Although, sometimes they’re all slow and o get an unplanned week off work every now and then. January is usually the worst.
- Comment on Plex got hacked. 2 months ago:
No doubt. Why do you need an account on their servers to use a server on your own hardware? So dumb.
- Comment on Just a little bit more 3 months ago:
Mine was a trailer tire on a triaxle. I still had 11 tires back there, so it was easy to find a safe spot to stop. I got lucky n that way.
