- Comment on What launcher should I replace Nova with? 1 day ago:
As another commenter said, seedvault is a huge part of it. That, and when I am taking video to upload somewhere, it would take forever to transfer a 20-120 minute 4k file.
And file transfer isnt the only reason. Android 16/17 are bringing desktop docking features, and thats s feature I’ve wanted on phones since Android 8. I have a device with DP out now, and as someone who owns a dock its a game changer for events where I need to display to something fast. I can’t wait for it to be a fully fleshed out DE. (Not to mention the fact that Chromecast is a shitty format that my is doesnt even support)

I dont think its the NFL trolling as much as it is that the market analysts believe the people they are picking will drum up publicity for the show.

The Bad Bunny halftime show. In American football there are usually shows at half time. In high schools and colleges its usually marching bands. At the super bowl, its pop stars. The Super Bowl half time show is usually criticized by republicans because pop culture tends to have a left leaning bias. Last year was Kendrick Lamar.

bring back USB3.0/DP out on the FP7 and I’ll bite. The FP6 going to USB2.0 screwed the pooch for me.

This isn’t federation, its a bridge. Theres also a bridge for Discord, Telegram and Signal, but none of those are federated either

Theyve been around for a few years and I’m still not really impressed. No E2EE, No federation if the people running it go belly up. You might as well use signal ATP.

You think they’ll let you access the account settings to delete the account without scanning your face first?
- Comment on Veganuary 3 days ago:
this feels like a strawman. I dont think anyone is going vegan to lose weight. 99% of people you see talk about it do it for ethical reasons.

Yeah on that note, get rid of any skin showing too. I dont want to see ankles or shoulders, could imply that person has body parts. Actually, let’s go full Greek, lets get rid of Women in media, just have the men play women. That way I don’t have to see any unnecessary sexual undertones.
Fuck outta here with this puritanical shit. You exist because 2 people fucked. Get over it.

I would take a CRT in a heartbeat. It makes watching 4:3 content feel right, especially older Star Treks.

Last time I ordered something off of Amazon the delivery driver did not even attempt to deliver. On the 3rd day amazon sent me a notice saying “if we miss you again we are sending your order back” (This was a mission critical device that only sold on amazon at the time)
I watched the amazon delivery truck drive right past my fucking house without even fucking attempting to stop. I ran barefoot in the rain a block behind the van and asked them to deliver my fucking package.
They gave it to me, but I’m still fucking pissed about it.

Yeah I totally hear you on the time thing. I think the stuff on Apple Photos should be relatively easy to import to immich and ente just based on a quick skimming of the guides. But like you said, having to find the time is understandable. I wish you luck on your journey to becoming a real linux boi, lol
Your original example made sense I just wanted to share something in case it was helpful, your new example makes sense too though :p

I’d just like to bring Immich (Self-Hosted) and Ente (Service or Self-Hosted) to your attention as ethical alternatives to Apples walled garden Photo storage. Hope you have a nice day :)

Thrift stores usually have some older dumb TVs if youre okay with 1080p, and Sceptre still makes dumb consumer-grade TVs if you are willing to shop on Amazon or at Walmart

“It’s not like I’m predicting that airliners will fly slower and Nazis will take over the United States, is it?”
this one… just like, reading it was like oh boy little do you know. -
“It might be Facebook or Twitter messages optimized to produce outrage, or it could be porn generated by AI to appeal to kinks you aren’t even consciously aware of.” This one really hit the nail on the head. Whether its boomers on Facebook watching fake baby interviews, or everyone else on Reddit and TikTok falling for rage bait (and the gooners on X). Just… man. Why don’t people get off their asses and fucking do something about this stuff? Why didnt they? I try to vote, and call local electives, participate in my community and keep people informed but Jesus. i dont know where we’ll end up by 2036 if we aren’t enslaved by that point.
