Lucky.
We have had full snow cover since mid-october here. But it has also been +3-5c most afternoons.
Although early snow often means warmer winter. And I can definitely handle the snow in QC better than the -40s I used to get in AB.

I want to preface this by saying that I personally did not downvote.
But the reason is not that hard to discern.
saying that you used to work for the police is basically the same thing as saying you used to work at a puppy grinding factory.
sure. you may be better now but you were still grinding puppies in your story.

It is weird to think that you have been rural in various places but still expected fiber somewhere.
We don’t even have cell signal here. It took 3 years to get electricity.
And I am only an hour from the capital of canada.
- Comment on If every video game was to be destroyed but you had the chance to save five games, what would you choose to save? 1 week ago:
I feel this. I’m 300 deaths in. 140 hours. 0 wins.
99% of my deaths now are unavoidable stuff like a worm shooting out of the side of the screen right into me. But I still have never built a really good wand. Some chainsaw sparks, and a few bouncy machine guns. The youtube vids where a streamer builds an aamzing wand by the third level just seems faked at this point.
Will I keep trying? Yup. Because I enjoy it? I don’t know… I keep opening the damn thing.

Switzerland is beautiful, but I have never met a more insular/racist group of people in my travels than in the swiss countryside. Skin colour and language can match, but if your accent is off you might be labelled a dirty foreigner and be treated accordingly.

Almost no chance the land is owned. You don't buy lots in most trailer parks, you rent them. And that trailer is worth about 3grand on the open market (which he could never afford to tow off the lot, negating any value it had), has no heat or AC, the floor has failed in the bathroom, and the walls are starting to bulge from mould. But the lot rental is cheap, and the trailer was left behind when pa drank himself to death at 37.

- Comment on Why are people using the "þ" character? 5 weeks ago:
I spent a lot of time in the forest. So yes.
- Comment on Why are people using the "þ" character? 5 weeks ago:
The point is that they are doing it purely to be annoying at this point. They have been shown many times, by people who actually work in the model training space, that their stated purpose is not achieving what they want.
- Comment on Why are people using the "þ" character? 5 weeks ago:
if your idea of fun is making it harder for other people to read your posts for no reason other than annoying them.
it made sense at first if they actually believed that this was going to do anything to an AI scraper. But they obviously know by now that that's not the case.
- Comment on Why are people using the "þ" character? 5 weeks ago:
Natural language models that compensate for this kind of attempt have been around since before that poster was born. It is silly vanity “hey look, people recognize me”. Yeah we also recognize the person covered in theor own feces yelling about how poop will confuse robocop.
- Comment on Why are people using the "þ" character? 5 weeks ago:
This person has been informed that the character is worthless at its stated goal of being AI poison. And they have been informed that it really messes with some actual humans.
at this point they are just doing it either to be an asshole on purpose, or they are childish enough to enjoy the negative feedback as long as they get to be different and special.
