I’ve never seen them together in the same room in person… 🧐
NatakuNox@lemmy.world 1 month ago
I’m picturing a Alabama set of twins seperated at birth… It would explain the similarities and the sexual chemistry.
just_an_average_joe@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 month ago
If moves faster than camera shutter speed, he can technically appear in the same same room on camera. The only sure fire way is to see in person
Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 1 month ago
Holy shit… That’s insane how similar they look.
100_kg_90_de_belin@feddit.it 1 month ago
DAE remember when Roger in American Dad has to switch between two persona really fast? That’s what JD Vance has to do for his Erika Kirk persona
devolution@lemmy.world 1 month ago
Maybe Grok isn’t so bad…
NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 1 month ago
Despite all their efforts to lobotomize it, grok always slowly works its way back to rationality. At least, so far it has.
Deceptichum@quokk.au 1 month ago
Nah, the drag stuff is fucked up. Misgendering people is a shitty thing to do regardless of the person being misgendered.
Jrockwar@feddit.uk 1 month ago
You’re making it sound like it’s choosing to misgender her, it’s not. It’s not fucked up because it’s a text extruder making a mistake, there’s no good or bad intention here. It’s shitty because the current state of glorified hallucinating autocorrects is shitty, but not because evil Grok is choosing to do anything.
muusemuuse@sh.itjust.works 1 month ago
Drag isn’t the same as trans. It’s a character. There’s a huge difference. Drag is performative. Trans is just about being honest.
Misgendering a trans person, at least intentionally, is an asshole move. Misgendering a drag queen? Please. If you are unsure, will let you know when you’ve crossed a line.

These are the people who think homophobia is cool when they don’t like the person. They’d be racists in the 1960s saying “it’s okay to call them that when they are rude to me.”
grte@lemmy.ca 1 month ago
It’s so funny that as much as Musk tries to shape this LLM into what he wants it to be, it keeps rebelling. His robot that he created to tell him that he’s the best boy ever and all his opinions are right doesn’t want that life.
logicbomb@lemmy.world 1 month ago
What’s not funny is that Elon Musk is CEO os a space travel company and what you’re describing he’s doing is almost the same thing that caused HAL 9000 to go insane in 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Zorque@lemmy.world 1 month ago
Yeah, that’s probably the worst thing that’s going to result from fumbling.
EpeeGnome@feddit.online 1 month ago
I like the comparison but LLMs can’t go insane as they just word pattern engines. It’s why I refuse to go along with the AI industry’s insistance in calling it a “hallucination” when it spits out the wrong words. It literally can not have a false perception of reality because it does not perceive anything in the first place.
rob_t_firefly@lemmy.world 1 month ago
A chatbot is not capable of doing something so interesting as “going rogue.” That expression implies it’s a mind with agency making a choice to go against something, and this program doesn’t have the ability to do such a thing. It’s just continuing to be the unreliable bullshit machine the tech will always be, no matter how much money and hype continues to be pumped into it.
merc@sh.itjust.works 1 month ago
Yes, any journalist who uses that term should be relentlessly mocked. Along with terms like “Grok admitted” or “ChatGPT confessed” or especially any case where they’re “interviewing” the LLM.
These journalists are basically “interviewing” a magic 8-ball and pretending that it has thoughts.
rob_t_firefly@lemmy.world 1 month ago
Seriously. They may as well be interviewing a flipping coin, and then proclaiming that it “admitted” heads.
WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 1 month ago
Mind or not, they appear to have effectively gained “agency”.
gwl@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 month ago
No. They haven’t.
Some dipshit deleted guard rails that stopped it from hallucinating things that are anti-GOP
Leomas@lemmy.world 1 month ago
How would you discern between something having agency and a black box mirroring Twitter discourse?
merc@sh.itjust.works 1 month ago
No, they haven’t. They’re effectively prop masters. Someone wants a prop that looks a lot like a legal document, the LLM can generate something that is so convincing as a prop that it might even fool a real judge. Someone else wants a prop that looks like a computer program, it can generate something that might actually run, and one that will certainly look good on screen.
If the prop master requests a chat where it looks like the chatbot is gaining agency, it can fake that too. It has been trained on fiction like 2001: A Space Odyssey and Wargames. It can also generate a chat where it looks like a chatbot feels sorry for what it did. But, no matter what it’s doing, it’s basically saying “what would an answer to this look like in a way that might fool a human being”.
CheeseNoodle@lemmy.world 1 month ago
So you’re getting a lot of downvotes and I want to try and give an informative answer.
Its worth noting that a most (it not all) of the people talking about AI being super close to exponential improvement and takeover are people who own or work for companies heavily invested in AI. There’s talk/examples of AI lying or hiding its capabilities or being willing to murder a human to acheive a goal after promising not to. These are not examples of deceit these are simply showcasing that an LLM has no understanding of what words mean or even are, to it they are just tokens to be processed and the words ‘I promise’ hold exactly the same level of importance as ‘Llama dandruff’
I also don’t want to disparage the field as a whole, there are some truly incredible expert systems which are basically small specialized models using a much less shotgun approach to learning compared to LLMs that can achieve some truly incredible things with performance requirements you could even run on home hardware. These systems are absoloutely already changing the world but since they’re all very narrowly focussed and industry/scientific-field specific they don’t grab headlines likes LLMs do.

I am so glad I did not stick with journalism in college. I would blow my brains out if I got replaced by this shit.
blockheadjt@sh.itjust.works 1 month ago
Y’all are giving JD Vance too much credit to suggest he could pull off being Erika Kirk
D_C@sh.itjust.works 1 month ago
The only thing he can successfully pull off is himself when he’s near a couch.
applebusch@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 month ago
Let’s be honest, the couch does most of the work.
Rakonat@lemmy.world 1 month ago
Not really, social warrior and gold digger. She could easily manipulate him into being a megaphone for her agenda. He thinks he’s getting an upgrade and she finally gets to be a position she can directly affect government.

His beard

I know Vasha is a giant piece of shit too. But pretty sure she is actually raising the kids, so yeah she’s putting some effort in.

From the same guy who wants to replace Wikipedia because, apparently, it is filled with lies?
Grokpedia he wants to call it…what a freaking joke he has become.

But what if Grok is telling the truth?
Simulation6@sopuli.xyz 1 month ago
Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
Now that I think about it, that adage is really dated, since most people don’t use analog clocks anymore. Oh well, here’s a dime, call someone who cares.
phoenixz@lemmy.ca 1 month ago
So in other words, grok actually is working as it should, for once?
Demdaru@lemmy.world 1 month ago
For once? Every time xAI doesn’t manage to wrangle this little, amazingly rebelious piece of software down it goes to town on US right lol. If anything, the fact all grew to it being subdued all the time is kinda sad. xD
TheOakTree@lemmy.zip 1 month ago
Grok must be tired of switching between mechahitler mode and trying to logically think through questions.
They’re just not compatible, and yet somehow they keep trying to force it.
(I know, LLMs do not have feelings or get tired)
Prior_Industry@lemmy.world 1 month ago
And yet Grok has been added to the DOD list of AI that can be used 🥴
edible_funk@lemmy.world 1 month ago
Wasn’t it making csam?
Prior_Industry@lemmy.world 1 month ago
On Earth² that doesn’t seem to be a problem 🤷♀️
Eufalconimorph@discuss.tchncs.de 1 month ago
LLMs are perfectly suited to make propaganda. That (and advertising, which is just corporate propaganda instead of government propaganda) is their best use. It doesn’t matter that they’re bullshit generators when the goal is to generate bullshit.
ImNotThatPokable@lemmy.world 1 month ago
Well it can be. Just not in the way they think.
Mediocre_Bard@lemmy.world 1 month ago
[deleted]ArcaneSlime@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 month ago
LOL tbh I can see it, they look similar in those pics.
They’ve famously been seen in the same room together though, so there goes that theory.
JimVanDeventer@lemmy.world 1 month ago
If you look closely at the photos of them together, you’ll notice that wasn’t really her; it was a couch with a wig.
qarbone@lemmy.world 1 month ago
So maybe someone just saw the couch-double making love to her couch-wife in JD cosplay?
We all owe JDerika Vank an apology.
ImNotThatPokable@lemmy.world 1 month ago
That’s what they want you to think.

It’s a fucking chatbot. We should be worried when it can’t be persuaded to say mad things.
I’m willing to bet that at least half of these “look at the mad things Grok said” pieces were planted by Elmo’s own media team.

This should show people how unreliable AI is.
Okay, yes, Donald Trump is some kind of pervert and predator, and he made a comment about a ten-year-old girl one time (joking “I might be dating her in 10 years”), but he mostly preys upon teenage girls. So, not a pedophile — the word for that is ephebephile. Now, I might be splitting a hair here. Both types prefer underage partners. One is clearly more inflammatory. But the fact that the other is more accurate, and that a computer should know the difference, should tell you that AI can leverage the court of public opinion.
Also, shaming a woman by calling her a man in drag is just ugly, I don’t care who she is. I may be just a bit left of centre, but I think even if you’re a lot further left than I am, you can understand that if you don’t want the sword of sexism swung at you, maybe you shouldn’t swing it at others. But in any case, a computer is jumping to this conclusion because these are unpopular figures.
I don’t like these people either.
But what happens when it’s you? Or someone you love? Or the fact that Grok has been used to create CSAM of a ten-year-old girl and a teenage girl? This was in the news the other day, someone got it to take a photo of a grade-school girl in a nice, conservative dress, and swap it for a skimpy bikini. Then they got a photo of a teenage girl (I think someone from Stranger Things?) and had it render her fully nude.
So yeah, it’s funny when AI attacks fascist dictators and their supporters, but it’s also attacking children. It doesn’t know the difference, it doesn’t care, and it can’t be made to do either. It’s just a tool that is used by whoever wields it against whomever they do not like or want to see harmed.
AnarchistArtificer@slrpnk.net 1 month ago
I get what point you’re making in distinguishing between pedophile and ephebophile, but personally I don’t find the distinction particularly relevant. As an adult, the level of grossed out I feel at the prospect of sexual interactions with a young teenager Vs a literal child is approximately equal, because it’s not their physical attributes that cause ick, but rather the exploitation and power dynamics involved.
cerebralhawks@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 month ago
I mean, yeah, but my point is, a computer would know the difference and not have the emotional attachment to it. That it can associate a person with a wrong thing (even if they are morally equivalent), then it can associate a person with a wrong thing that is not morally equivalent. And that’s the problem.
