- Comment on Karim Diané on playing Star Trek’s first gay Klingon 3 days ago:
It’s just a phrase. You’ve heard it. To finish it off: Homophobia only exists in 1 species (which, unfortunately for my example, would likely be Klingons).

It’s already more than possible in your mind.
- Comment on Karim Diané on playing Star Trek’s first gay Klingon 3 days ago:
Klingons appear humanoid. Therefore humans see themselves in them regardless of what the writers intend. Therefore we have to shove representation in as a sort of innoculation against the exact mental gymnastics you’re performing.
- Comment on Do rich people get addicted to drugs? 3 days ago:
Rich folks despise their drug addict children and cut them off out of shame (the real spoiler is that these parents create the addiction). So the one who gets revenge should be the black sheep of the family who tried their best to keep the addict around.
- Comment on Karim Diané on playing Star Trek’s first gay Klingon 3 days ago:
Because they’re humanoids. We see ourselves in them. Therefore representation matters.
Homosexuality has been observed in over 5,000,000 mammaloid species, including targs.

- Comment on In the US we have signs that say No Shirt No Shoes No service. When did this become a norm? Also if I am wearing a shirt and shoes but no pants can I still enter? 2 weeks ago:
This confused my literal autistic brain so much growing up in the 90s. I always wondered why they didn’t include shorts/pants. Beach culture originated these signs. Bottoms aren’t included because women would enter wearing bikini bottoms and they explicitly did not have a problem with that.

I don’t disagree with this. But why don’t we ever see these disclaimers identifying left-wing bias? Nobody is unbiased. To ignore it on the left is highly problematic.

There’s immense potential for character builds but almost no incentive to explore them. You feel the wasted potential as you play. The story is compelling enough to enjoy the experience but not enough to fill the empty pit you feel once you’re done. That’s how I feel about the first game. Does it apply to the second?

- Comment on Ed Zitron on big tech, backlash, boom and bust: ‘AI has taught us that people are excited to replace human beings’ 1 month ago:
AI truly has the capacity to topple billionaire hegemony and democratize/socialize everything. The hype we see from CEOs is a rebranding of their own fear. They want to control this tech so it doesn’t erase their power, which is why they are so invested in concentrating its power in datacenters as well as seeking AGI. Concentrating power is how they control it. It’s the reason they fight everything from unions to OSHA to work from home - these all undermine their power. They view AGI as the magical tool that will be hosted in a datacenter and allow them to maintain control over AI in general. They are flying too close to the sun. We are not the ones who should be afraid.

- Comment on If president abductions are something that can apparently just happen how come Putin or Kim Jong Un aren't in some foreign prison right now? 2 months ago:
I think your premise that it was easy is misinformed. We likely used modern classified tech to pull it off. There are reports emerging of anomalies related to common router vulnerabilities in Caracas. We don’t know how the operation was conducted and probably won’t know any time soon. Kidnapping a head of state is unprecedented. The Trump admin would absolutely use new tech to do this in a show of military prowess.

Copyright circumvention is the lie YouTubers tell themselves as they shamelessly feed their ego. They’re imagining all their followers laughing because they thought something was funny. Copyright circumvention is the useful product distilled by human ingenuity out of the toxic cesspool this market created as it feeds upon the attention capacity of the youth of the world.
