Take note, world leaders, of how easy it is to hit home runs right now.
- Comment on Should you copy a person's accent when pronouncing their name? 1 week ago:
It’s normal to come across words you don’t know how to pronounce in your native language. When you do, you either ask someone for the pronunciation or stumble along until someone corrects you. Names are no different and you shouldn’t be made to feel ashamed by any earnest attempt to pronounce them. Forget about the accent and focus on the specific sounds involved in the name. If you cannot form sounds that are foreign to you, the owner of the name will likely help you pronounce it in the language you’re comfortable with. They are probably used to doing this.

Tinfoil hat time: that hand glitch video of Trump was a test, by Vance, because he knows how uncharismatic he is. These people bought into AI as their secret weapon and it’s not ready for their grand design.

It’s not even an unwillingness to admit ignorance: it’s the lack of awareness that there’s already a conversation.
This is the take-home point. They aren’t unaware there’s already a conversation. Their hubris compels them to believe they can answer these questions better than whatever the liberal establishment has come up with.

The models get 0% of the proceeds for one year and then 10% after that. After interviews and photos of the models, they get around to interviewing the CEOs of the companies doing this, and there’s an unchallenged narrative about why it’s fair and not exploitative. Shame on the BBC.

So, your approach is authoritarian. Let’s just ban everything we don’t want to happen. Problem is that doesn’t ever work. Kids will learn tech better than you and will get around every wall you try to put up. Instead, parents can build trust with their kids so the kids will come to them when they inevitably see horrible stuff. You don’t have to venture to the dark corners of the web to find horrible stuff kids shouldn’t see; it’s available on any front page.

In the Hunger Games, people learned to communicate by holding up 3 fingers. You could force a news cameraman to cut the feed by strategically saying one name. You don’t even need me to recite the name here. Humans created AI; don’t let your juiced-up amygdala convince you a tool we made is more powerful than the human spirit.
