Can we not make joke about Monica? She got horribly treated by the public while he is the only one who should have been punished.
She is fighting bullying and she is pretty cool for that.

Can we not make joke about Monica? She got horribly treated by the public while he is the only one who should have been punished.
She is fighting bullying and she is pretty cool for that.
Yeah, it took me a second to realize this was another juvenile joke at her expense to make fun of Bill Clinton who has committed a whole series of much worse offenses you can take aim at without involving a woman who already got the sharp end of the media stick for far too long.
Neither of them should have been punished? The joke is that America lost its goddamnmotherfucking mind over this. America is the joke.
Neither of them should’ve been punished? He was her boss, and decades older than her. He should’ve kept his pants zipped up.
Remember Gary Hart? He had to drop out of politics because of a rumor of an affair.
Meanwhile… Margaret Trudeau is doing blow with the Rolling Stones at Studio 52.
I think it’s alright to hold both of them accountable for infidelity in a social sense. Clinton being the more responsible as the man in the marriage, but Monica knew he was married. I can’t see a moral argument to not hold her accountable for this as well (again, socially, not legally). They were both adults. I don’t think the age difference or power dynamic lets either of them off of the hook, even though it would make the then-President comparatively more in the wrong.
I think it’s more alright to have punished Clinton for lying (under oath, right?). Even if I don’t think it made sense to ask him about sexual relations, he still lied about it. I don’t think there’s any legal issue with what Monica did.
I’m glad she’s speaking up against bullying nowadays.
I didn’t follow each update on this situation while it was going on, so if you think I missed an important point that would change my mind, I’m open to considering it.
You are missing the point where a man with the most powerful position on the planet, more than twice the woman’s age, made her feel special by the attention that he gave her at 22 years of age. The human brain is not fully matured until at least 25.
Having that big of a power difference and age difference is huge.
And you missed the point where he broke his promise to his wife and she broke no promise. You don’t know what bill told her what his deal with Hillary was. So why judge her for a crime that she didn’t commit?
This guy’s sexist af, don’t expect better
Why should he be punished? Nothing either one of them did was illegal. It was consensual private behavior that none of us should ever have heard about.
He was her boss and the president of the usa… considering her age too… questionable behaviour
You know what is incredibly miserable? When Clinton became president he was the first baby boomer president. And since then, save for Obama, all presidents were born roughly around the same time.
Bill Clinton is almost the same age as Trump. Both were born in 1946. They were born months apart.
I hope Trump is the last Boomer President.
It’s like the boomers last gasp to really fuck EVERYTHING up once and for all.
The youngest Boomer is 61. There are plenty of 61-year-olds I’d vote for, and older. For instance, I’d still vote for Bernie–just get him in office, it doesn’t matter how long he lives. Conversely, there are plenty of under-40-year-olds I would not vote for. The problem has nothing to do with age. There are a lot of 20-something MAGAs.
For anyone looking for more history around this, the economist have a podcast series called Boom!
And for general shit about the worst-behaved presidents, I recommend Very Presidential with Ashley Flowers. It’s a short series of 15 episodes but gives a good idea of all the shit that happened in the White House.
When we talk about “presidential conduct,” we usually mean dignity and leadership. We don’t usually talk about the all-night ragers, blackmail schemes, and drug-induced decisions made in very important meetings! But maybe we should talk about all of that.[…] It’s a lot wilder than anything you learned in history class, and the scariest part is, it’s all true.
BTW. Before Clinton, from Eisenhower to Bush Sr. The presidents were all WW2 veterans to some degree. Eisenhower was a general, Kennedy was a PT Boat skipper, and Reagan was in a non-combat role primarily acting in training films. Bush Sr. Was a naval aviator.
For some reason or another, most of them were Navy guys.
If only the media would cover epstein the way they covered this…
For all we know Murdoch and Bloomberg are on the list.
Blowjob funny.
SA* funny. I don’t care that she fell in love with him. The power dynamic is as strong as it possibly can be outside of parenthood.
Lewinsky went through so much sustained bullying and harassment by the entire world in her twenties, it’s incredible she’s still alive honestly. And now she’s an activist. Can’t respect her more.
do you think you’d laugh if a clown sucked you off?
Yeah, because every time they went on a downstroke, their nose would honk.
Such a silly scandal. Let people enjoy sex. Sure he was technically her boss but it was fully consensual and neither side regrets it.
Compare to some recent American presidents…
Him being her boss is the scandal part. It’s about power imbalance. There is no such thing as “consent” in this situation.
Combine that with the fact that someone commiting adultery should be disqualifying for them becoming president.
Look, I get that all the social norms have been completely ground to dust, but character does in fact matter. We should want a good person who refuses to cheat on their wife as a leader.
Reducing this to just a fun fling because you like the guy is the same thing the hypocrites who support Trump and all of his scandals do.
If he’s willing to betray his wife for a quicky from an intern, why would I trust him with anything else? For the person who’s leading the entire nation the bar should be higher.
Also not to mention that he was 49 and she was 22. If this was anyone less “likeable” than Bill we’d all be calling him an absolute creep. He was pushing 50, and she could barely drink. And he was her boss.
Partially. It was really “Republicans went digging for some dirt and he lied about fucking his secretary during a deposition, so let’s steering him up over it”. It then became about bashing Monica cause misogyny.
There is no such thing as “consent” in this situation.
Are you arguing Clinton raped Lewinski?
Yeah. The whole reason the Amanda Knox series happened is because Monika Lewinsky has been starting this documentary series where she tries to help victims in situations where publicity ruined their image and give them a chance to tell their story.
What a fantastic way to turn an image around.
She could not give full consent given the power imbalance. She does regret her role. Please consider looking into how she has reframed her experience since the #metoo movement.
“I did not have sexual relations with that woman” - lying means nothing?
The definition of ‘sexual relations’ was a multi year legal debate.
What the definition of ‘is’ was took several months.
This smells like blue-no-matter-who mental gymnastics.
When America had a president with a brain and had consensual extramarital sex with someone.
Instead of a brain dead orange bean bag for a leader who committed multiple sex offenses and is linked to offenses of rape and pedophilia.
Uh…Bill had a lot of frequent flier miles to and from Epstein Island.
I mean, with that power imbalance I certainly wouldn’t call that affair consensual.
Last I heard, Monica Lewinsky does, and her opinion matters more than any of our.
You know it’s the 90’s because his pog collection is on display.
Anyone who listens to rap does.
No wonder he looks so happy.
Not American, ELI5?
Bill Clinton, president from 92-2000, famously had an affair with white house intern Monica Lewinsky which included her performing oral sex on him in the oval office. The joke is that Lewinsky is under the desk.
Aww yeah
Monica!
Yeah, she got swallowed up and spit out by the whole thing. Poor naive girl then, at least she’s a strong woman now. She’s pretty inspirational.

Fun fact, Tom Green had Monica Lewinsky on his show back in 2000. Tom Green was one of the few comedians who doesn’t make fun of Monica Lewinsky. The whole episode is a Tom Green certified adventure involving Monica Lewinsky; she goes along with all the wacky hi-jinks from trolling the media to having light saber battle in Tim Hortons.

You know, for all of his other just horrible antics, he wasn’t a bad guy. Just a bit too Andy Kaufman.
