What’s crazy is I instantly clocked it as AI slop just from the thumbnail, and I’m not even wearing my glasses.
Tigeroovy@lemmy.ca 3 weeks ago
It just all has a kind of bland sameyness to it all that once you see it you can spot it immediately in subsequent images.
___qwertz___@feddit.org 2 weeks ago
My conspiracy theory is that OpenAI makes their generated images easy to recognize so that they can filter them out for learning when scraping pages.
eager_eagle@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
nah, the poster is in Mexico, that’s just the Mexico filter
DashboTreeFrog@discuss.online 3 weeks ago
In a different AI comic conversation someone used the term “slop sepia” and I hope it catches on.
turdburglar@sh.itjust.works 3 weeks ago
gtfo with your slop
argarath@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
How did you identify it? I didn’t catch this one and I want to get better at it
MangoPenguin@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 weeks ago
They all have this exact art style, you’ll start to see it everywhere.
IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
it just the default gpt art style.
burgerpocalyse@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
pay attention to how intentional things are. nothing in this picture is motivated. the man has his arm raised, but not in a welcoming manner, more like he’s saying hi. he also isnt looking at the viewer. there is also no discernable landmark or important features. the only other thing is a bus, which doesnt have a door on the left, which i dont know about you, but every bus ive seen in north America has the door on the left.
a real advertisement for Canada would likely ask you to visit or experience something about Canada, like a national park or iconic building in a city, or have a recognizable public figure. it absolutely would not bring up something objectively negative like being deported in the same space as an invitation to visit.
all im saying is that, there is a basic language to art and this reads like an alien that is aware that there are rules but does not understand why there are rules nor how they operate
turdburglar@sh.itjust.works 3 weeks ago
uniform line weight, creamy yellow ground, font and text placement.
dickalan@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Not to shame you, but how could you not, first thing I was going to say was get this fucking AI bullshit off this website but said it for me
UnfortunateShort@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
The trees on the left are strangely offset upwards, there is a line down the windshield which I have never seen on a bus like that, the bus also does not have a door at the front, which they typically do, and to a lesser degree that yellow looks like it belongs to a school bus, while this clearly isn’t one
TheGuyTM3@lemmy.ml 3 weeks ago
All the AI drawings have a grainy piss-yellow tone, idk why but it makes the identification easier
absentbird@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Who has ever seen a yellow Canada tour bus? Pretty much the only yellow busses in US and Canada are for school.
koetje78@feddit.nl 2 weeks ago
The style used did it for me. It seems distinct for at least one popular engine (chatbot?) as it pops up everywhere. Especially the face and hands.
dickalan@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
I sent them a simple private message that says AI slop is gross
argarath@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Weird, I haven’t gotten the message yet, I wonder if my app is missing that feature, I’ll look into it, thanks!
uriel238@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 weeks ago
I had art I personally crafted accused of being slop (gen-AI free!). Dunno if it’s a compliment or a criticism.
turdburglar@sh.itjust.works 2 weeks ago
ha. me too. just this week.
Tigeroovy@lemmy.ca 3 weeks ago
I’m not even going to look at it, I can tell it’s ai slop from the thumbnail.
LogicalDrivel@sopuli.xyz 3 weeks ago
I don’t even know what it is. Ive stared at it for at least a solid two minutes looking for errors. It screams AI to me but I cant find that detail that proves it. I hate that this is what sharing pictures online has become. Scrutinizing every little detail to see if I should care or not.
SourGumGum@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Scrutinizing every little detail to see if I should care or not.
You don’t have to do that? It’s only a picture, the world won’t end if you upvote something made by AI.
howrar@lemmy.ca 3 weeks ago
There’s nothing about this image that can tell you with certainty that it’s AI generated, but it’s an art style that has been popular with AI generated images recently, probably due to the simplicity, which makes it harder for it to make mistakes. The trend means that a lot of junk has been showing up with this style and people have a negative association with it now.
bdonvr@thelemmy.club 3 weeks ago
Yeah same, I think a human artist would have put a door on that bus. But it’s not proof.
khaleer@sopuli.xyz 3 weeks ago
You could literally look at the pines at the bottom
Wispy2891@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
It’s the style of drawing, probably stolen from stock websites like this sozai-good.com/illust/person/mother/44455
Asetru@feddit.org 3 weeks ago
Can someone please get that slop outta my face?
BroBot9000@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
If you insist on posting Ai slop outside of the dedicated Ai communities please at least tag it so people can filter Ai slop out.
null@lemmy.nullspace.lol 3 weeks ago
How do you know they knew it was AI?
BroBot9000@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
They can add the tag once everyone has pointed it out to them if they honestly didn’t know but these comics are painfully obvious.
FreddyNO@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Ai slop ugh
burgerchurgarr@lemmus.org 3 weeks ago
What if I deserve due process?
cley_faye@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
“unless your work involves drawing stuff, in which case fuck off”
dastanktal@lemmy.ml 3 weeks ago
Probably could have left out the words “without due process” because they should not be throwing people into an El Salvadorian gulag.
sukhmel@programming.dev 3 weeks ago
I thought it was part of the joke
dastanktal@lemmy.ml 3 weeks ago
Idk it kinda feels like the implication is that if you have due process, then this would be okay. I’m firmly in the camp that nobody should be shipped to an El Salvador Gulag for any reason
ea6927d8@lemmy.ml 3 weeks ago
Agent641@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
We liked your country so much we took a piece home with us to remember you by!
SlartyBartFast@sh.itjust.works 3 weeks ago
Clearly AI slop
melsaskca@lemmy.ca 2 weeks ago
What does that mean? I’m unfamiliar with AI. Does that mean a human instructed an AI to make that pic or was it cranked out by the AI itself, programmed to scour and use news items from the digital world?
SlartyBartFast@sh.itjust.works 2 weeks ago
The former, I don’t believe the tech is up for the latter for another six months
Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 2 weeks ago
more specifically i’d say AI slop is when the style and content are painfully generic, not everything generated is automatically slop, but it’s very very very likely to be so.
don@lemmy.ca 3 weeks ago
We will, however, throw you into an El Salvadorian gulag with due process!
:/
goofystench@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
this isnt a shitpost. this is a shit fucking post. fuck ai. how can people still not tell, its so damn obv and uglyy 😭😭
rozodru@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
it’s always so washed out, every. single. AI. IMAGE. regardless of style they all look washed out and flat. there’s zero vibrant colors for anything. One of them just gorged on this “trend” and all the rest of them followed suite eating the slop.
It’s gotten to the point now where you don’t even need to look at the inaccuracies with something, you just need to look at the colors to tell if it’s AI or not.
Kolanaki@pawb.social 3 weeks ago
Is there still a chance you’ll send me to a Salvadorian prison with due process?
Tar_alcaran@sh.itjust.works 3 weeks ago
Well, I think it depends on how many crimes you committed in El Salvador.
AFallingAnvil@lemmy.ca 3 weeks ago
I mean, the chance is never zero but it’s gotta be damn close
orochi02@feddit.org 3 weeks ago
Im annoyed by ai slop Like Any other BUT DAMN, 100 downvotes just because of that??
bdonvr@thelemmy.club 3 weeks ago
All the better if we can make shaming AI content normal. Make people embarrassed to even try it.
NoFun4You@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
How is this any different than someone copy and pasting a meme and writing text over it 🤷🏻
RandomVideos@programming.dev 3 weeks ago
I doubt it would have been as downvoted if it was marked as AI or put in a different community that was related to AI
ieGod@lemmy.zip 3 weeks ago
Lemmy is retarded about AI.
Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 2 weeks ago
you can tell that your opinion is worth listening to because you use a slur for innocent people
cley_faye@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Fakery and masquerading as actual content is annoying, yes, your point being?
stevedice@sh.itjust.works 3 weeks ago
Look at it this way: Even if your sample is biased by taking it from a place where the anti AI zealots are out in full force, about 76% of people either can’t tell or can’t be bothered to care.
scott@lemmy.org 3 weeks ago
How can you tell that this is AI? I’m curious.
outhouseperilous@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 weeks ago
Liberalism: making sure to include that last line
NoFun4You@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago

thisbenzingring@lemmy.sdf.org 3 weeks ago
I always respected that Canada is open to almost everyone…
Except if you have a DUI
I knew a lady that was a Canadian citizen but lived and worked in Seattle. She got a DUI and they won’t let her go back into Canada until she completes the long and expensive process that they require for DUI offenders.
takeda@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 weeks ago
I dunno, DUI is serious, you could kill someone. Maybe it is a long and expensive process to make sure people will remember it and not drive while being drunk?
Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
That’s ridiculous. You can deny someone a driving licence, but you can’t deny them entry to the country they’re a citizen of.
orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 weeks ago
Sounds like my ex… From Seattle. Does the word “Ace” mean anything to you?
TheOrionArm@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Not to take away from my neighbor Canadia or anything but in fact in every country except the U.S. and El Salvador you can enjoy the benefit of not being thrown in a Salvadoran gulag, try harder Canadia
JimVanDeventer@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Do not test us or we will throw you in Saskatchewan! A fate worse than death and — now that you ask — no, there is no escape. You will pray to the god who has forgotten you to be released to hell. Spoiler alert: you will wake up in Saskatchewan.
neons@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 weeks ago
…
This makes it sound like sending you to concentration camps with due process is fair game lol
surph_ninja@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Unless you’re indigenous to Canada. Then you’ll be killed or forcefully sterilized.
Skullgrid@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
The lesson here is if you want engagement, use AI, because the douchebags will comment in a rabid state and other people will appriciate it more than your shitty drawings
DeathByBigSad@sh.itjust.works 3 weeks ago
Last I check, Canada isn’t accepting asylum applications from Americans, because having a wannabe dictator for president is apparantly not a good enough reason to be granted asylum.
Tar_alcaran@sh.itjust.works 3 weeks ago
Because Canada says “move to a state that is less terrible”, which is not entirely untrue, but also not entirely true.
swagmoney@lemmy.ca 3 weeks ago

Stalinwolf@lemmy.ca 2 weeks ago
It was difficult to get into Canada when I immigrated ten years ago (it was deeply complicated even as a sponsored individual), and I hear it’s even more difficult now. It’s a shame, because I know that the idea of escaping to Canada is a hopeful thing for many Americans. I was extremely fortunate. However, the housing shortage alone and a general anti-American sentiment has cast a huge shadow on new entries. Canadians remain as friendly as ever, but trust between them and Americans is also at an all-time low. People at work know I’m American and they love hearing my take on everything, but I don’t spread that information to new ears anymore.
I suppose it might be cool for Canada to do a 2-for-1 swap, where they send Texas pairs of whiny, privileged conservatives in exchange for good, left-leaning Americans who actually want to be here.

ai slop
Gullible@sh.itjust.works 3 weeks ago
I can’t even figure out what I’ve noticed about these things, and it pisses me off that it rings a false positive whenever I read newspaper comics
orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 weeks ago
Line weight. The round eyes. The color. The exact same smile. Same angles to the viewer. 45 or direct… There are so many telltale signs.
9point6@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Honestly the silver lining with all this is how innately obvious it is what it is currently.
Literally just reeks of the same level of effort as someone making a meme out of clipart or one of those boomers that uses that fancy Facebook status feature.
If you need to generate a hero image to make your witty tweet good enough to share, maybe go back to the drawing board
sunbrrnslapper@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
I’m old. Help me not fall victim to AI slop again. How could you tell it was AI?
pyre@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
it’s the exact same style used in almost all ai slop comics lately. you can tell by face alone; it’s almost identical in all of them, even with different features (like facial hair).
bdonvr@thelemmy.club 3 weeks ago
It seems to spit this out whenever you ask for comic style. I couldn’t tell you exactly what it is.
Edge004@lemmy.zip 3 weeks ago
