I’ll just book AAF for 10 consecutive shows where they’re only allowed to play the smooth criminal cover.
Choose your ultimate lineup!

This and SOAD twice are the only 2 correct answers
Rentlar@lemmy.ca 10 months ago
One AAF concert and the rest is spent on $5 shots for every time he says “Talk to the Chewbacca! Hoo!” in Smooth Criminal.
I’m kind of fond of some of their other tracks, but it doesn’t matter if I’m knocked out.
Album@lemmy.ca 10 months ago
The album that song is on is actually great and one of my favs of that era. I’d make them play the whole album.
Delphia@lemmy.world 10 months ago
It wasnt until I got older that I realised how fucking amazing of a cover it is.
verdigris@lemmy.ml 10 months ago
A SOAD + Deftones + AAF concert would fucking slap.
Sunforged@lemmy.ml 10 months ago
I was looking at it and it’s the only correct answer. Those are the only bands from that era that I go back to for more than just a nostalgia hit.
HipHoboHarold@lemmy.world 10 months ago
There were a few other bands I wouldn’t mind seeing on there, like Slipknot does seem like they put on a good show. StaticX is a band that has a few songs I still listen to.
But over all I keep looking at those three, and I wouldn’t be willing to trade them for any of the other bands.
AccmRazr@lemm.ee 10 months ago
That’s my go to but another great lineup would be Slipknot, Mudvayne, and Static X/Drowning Pool.
winterayars@sh.itjust.works 10 months ago
This is like the best actual answer.
Vespair@lemm.ee 10 months ago
Ditch AAF, pocket $10 and have a great concert
VonCesaw@lemmy.world [bot] 10 months ago
You could buy almost 1/3rd of a numetal t-shirt with that $10!
steal_your_face@lemmy.ml 10 months ago
Keep aaf then we have a deal
verdigris@lemmy.ml 10 months ago
They’re definitely not a band that I actively revisit, but compared to most of the shit on this list they’re better than tolerable.
MrJameGumb@lemmy.world 10 months ago
I get the joke, but there are so many worse bands that would have been funnier lol I think a lot of people would pay good money to see Slipknot, SOAD and Deftones all in one show!
Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 10 months ago
It’s a shitpost intended to troll metal fans. But I think most instead got distracted by the question and aren’t paying much attention to the troll itself. The values might be another attempt at inducing rage.
Sorry, but my rage is being saved for the machine.
Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world 10 months ago
Sorry, but my rage is being saved for the machine.
Are you still just a rat in a cage, though?
PlainSimpleGarak@lemm.ee 10 months ago
Going to see Static-X, Sevendust, and Dope next week 🤘🤘🤘
MrJameGumb@lemmy.world 10 months ago
That’s awesome dude! Stick Mojo and Sevendust was one of the first concerts I went to when I was a teenager lol
XEAL@lemm.ee 10 months ago
No Linkin Park? (before they gave up nu-metal)
SnipingNinja@slrpnk.net 10 months ago
Seconded
Zozano@lemy.lol 10 months ago
It wouldn’t be the same…
Adulated_Aspersion@lemmy.world 10 months ago
The only correct answer is System of a Down followed by System of a Down.
apfelwoiSchoppen@lemmy.world 10 months ago
Putting System and Deftones in the list is and always was weird to me. These are also the only ones I listen to so perhaps I’m not exactly objective.
vegskret@lemmy.world 10 months ago
Easy: System of a Down twice
PP_BOY_@lemmy.world 10 months ago
Deftones being below Slipknot should be a crime
model_tar_gz@lemmy.world 10 months ago
SOAD twice.
fl42v@lemmy.ml 10 months ago
Honesty, understandable: I partly like about half of those listed… But I prefer listening to recordings at non-deafening volumes while not being surrounded by a hell lot of humans. Sucks to be an introvert, I guess.
cmhickman358@thelemmy.club 10 months ago
System of a Down, Static-X, Mushroomhead, and Alien Ant Farm would be one hell of a show
ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 10 months ago
Those bands are rad bro, why you keeping $100?
Nastybutler@lemmy.world 10 months ago
SOAD, Deftones, and use the $10 left to cover half of a beer.
root_beer@midwest.social 10 months ago
System and Deftones, and a packet of peanuts? Okay, sounds good
All the others can kick rocks though
banichan@lemmy.world 10 months ago
I’ll take Static-X if they’re using a hologram of Wayne
ZeroCool@slrpnk.net 10 months ago
they surviving members have actually been touring with Edsel Dope (from Dope) as their vocalist under the stage name “Xer0”
KyuubiNoKitsune@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 months ago
And honestly, he’s honouring Wayne’s memory, he’s perfect for the band and does it justice.
PeriodicallyPedantic@lemmy.ca 10 months ago
SOAD and keep the other $50
KoalaUnknown@lemmy.world 10 months ago
If only concerts tickets were really this cheap. I saw TOOL not too long ago and it was like ~$500 for two mediocre tickets.
Patches@sh.itjust.works 10 months ago
Idk if I’m old, or poor, or both
But if I had $500 for a concert - I would just buy $400 in audio equipment, and a $100 in drugs and call it a night in.
KoalaUnknown@lemmy.world 10 months ago
Concerts are just such a great experience though. Especially TOOL concerts.
LesDeuxBonsYeux@sh.itjust.works 10 months ago
Looks like you’re the TOOL, amiright ?
Xanthrax@lemmy.world 10 months ago
WTF, I payed 50 in SD.
FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 10 months ago
Dear Christ. I don’t see a lot of big-time acts, but I remember seeing P-Funk in the 90s and it cost like $20.
explodicle@local106.com 10 months ago
I’d pick Drowning Pool just to bring the lead singer back to life.
SnipingNinja@slrpnk.net 10 months ago
$20 for necromancy is a cheap price indeed
0ops@lemm.ee 10 months ago
one system one korn plz
TheRealLinga@sh.itjust.works 10 months ago
I got to see Korn in early 2020 right before covid really hit. It was a dream come true. Only band on that list I wanted to see and hadn’t yet, and they did not disappoint
snownyte@kbin.social 10 months ago
Lol, most of these acts have watered down over the years.
Mudvayne is only happening because Hellyeah is mostly done after Vinnie Paul's death. Not sure how they'll be, if they'll be anything.
Korn has been sucking.
Slipknot is a little unstable right now.
System of a Down isn't really doing much and Serj Tankian hasn't been that interested in rejoining the band.
Deftones is solid.
Limp Bizkit is a has been, also fuck Fred Durst.
Disturbed is just okay.
Papa Roach is so-so.
Static-X is just a tribute act these days.
Drowning Pool lost a lot of relevancy.
Mushroomhead seem to be doing fine.
Alien Ant Farm is still doing something but they're so-so. One hit wonder.
CrazyTown is more or less dead.
Ill Nino is just up in the air.cowfodder@lemmy.world 10 months ago
Saw Mudvayne last year with Coal Chamber, GWAR, Nonpoint, and Butcher Babies and they fucking killed it for like 90 minutes straight.
snownyte@kbin.social 10 months ago
Um, good for you?
RaoulDook@lemmy.world 10 months ago
This guy fucks… nu-metal?
GeneralEmergency@lemmy.world 10 months ago
Alien Ant Farm is still doing something but they’re so-so. One hit wonder.
Come on man. Movies is pretty good.
NatakuNox@lemmy.world 10 months ago
Shouldn’t our budget be $150? There are some sacrifices in not willing to make!
SnipingNinja@slrpnk.net 10 months ago
As in getting soad 3 times /jk
phoenixz@lemmy.ca 10 months ago
Deftones isn’t a nu-metal band, and I’d arguably say the same about soad who did its own weird thing. I’d also watch those two over anything else
Thcdenton@lemmy.world 10 months ago
This would be fuckin rad.
AI_toothbrush@lemmy.zip 10 months ago
Im a normie so disturbed and i keep the rest.
SpiceDealer@lemmy.world 10 months ago
Unpopular opinion but… no Soulfly?
tiltinyall@lemmy.org 10 months ago
Or Sevendust, I’d still wanna see undead Wanye Static growling on stage.
FictionalCrow@yiffit.net 10 months ago
Bully memes are cool now
Toes@ani.social 10 months ago
I’d take system of a down and parking.
Lifebandit666@feddit.uk 10 months ago
I’ve paid £50 to see Korn this year. Tickets are now going for £200.
frickineh@lemmy.world 10 months ago
I saw them for free once because my job gave me tickets and they were good. It was a fun time. 🤷♀️
Lifebandit666@feddit.uk 10 months ago
I paid £50 last year to watch Limp Bizkit at the same venue.
Long and short of it is that I used to get beaten up because of my music choices and style of dress in this town, in Yorkshire, in the UK.
Not far away Sophie Lancaster got beaten to death from the same thing.
Now I’m seeing sold out shows for the bands I was beaten for listening to, in my hometown.
So yeah I’m going, and I’m gonna be going mental in that moshpit.
EnderMB@lemmy.world 10 months ago
SOAD, Deftones, and AAF - as long as I can pick the setlist. In reverse order would be a phenomenal line up too.
Macaroni_ninja@lemmy.world 10 months ago
Ilk go to see SOAD twice.
Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 10 months ago
Can only see them once because Ticketmaster adds another $36 in fees, but this only shows up after you’ve managed to get through the queue and if you think about it too long, you’ll lose your spot.
Ah shit, sorry, they accidentally sold your tickets on their scalper site for $1244 (plus fees and taxes), but don’t worry, you’ll get a refund.
Rayspekt@kbin.social 10 months ago
If I should ever find myself with tickets for them I'll remember you, Macaroni Ninja.
Macaroni_ninja@lemmy.world 10 months ago
You are a true gentleman/gentlewoman/gentleperson! Much obliged!
ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.de 10 months ago
Damn it. You beat me to posting this. Seen em in concert like 20ish years ago, too. They were fantastic.
Macaroni_ninja@lemmy.world 10 months ago
I last saw them in 2015 in London and it was one of the best concerts of my life.
