Bad news for “Eddie Tump”, “Ronald Tump Senior” and “Jerry Kusher”, I guess 🤷

On that we agree. Pretending that it’s already easy or even POSSIBLE for everybody doesn’t help achieve that goal, though.

I’m not. I’m pointing out that you’re presenting it as something anyone can just do, which is far from the case.
Apart from many people simply lacking aptitude in the jobs you’re talking about (not everyone can learn any trade), dozens of millions of people are working the equivalent of more than a full time job to (most often with limited success) make ends meet. They don’t have time or energy left over from their CURRENT job(s) to retrain and/or apply for other jobs. It’s not like they can just take enough time off without being fired.
And then there’s the fact that a large portion of struggling people live in areas where those kinds of jobs at that kind of pay either don’t exist at all or there’s hundreds if not thousands that want the job per opening.
And no, those people can’t just move. Moving costs a lot of money, time, and energy that the average working poor simply don’t have.
- Comment on Trustafarians: When the Rich Pretend to be Poor 2 days ago:
Yeah, because there’s absolutely no barriers to most people getting those jobs. People just don’t want more money 🙄
- Comment on Trustafarians: When the Rich Pretend to be Poor 2 days ago:
They can’t. Gen X was the last generation that got wealthier with age and it’s gotten progressively worse for every subsequent generation.

- Comment on The RTS genre will never be mainstream unless you change it until it's 'no longer the kind of RTS that I want to play,' says Crate Entertainment CEO 3 days ago:
Why can’t you just set a standing order of “make unit x” or “make unit x while we have gas until we get to 50 of them”? That’s strategy. Having to tab back to a building and manually queue a couple of units every several seconds is just creating busywork for players
I agree completely. Related: have you considered turn based strategy games?

Hundreds of Washington DC police, some deploying pepper spray, cleared a pro-Palestinian encampment at George Washington University early on Wednesday
ACAB
One question looming over the volatile events at George Washington was why the DC police took so long to remove the encampment
“Why didn’t the jackboots stomp out dissent immediately?” 🤬
On Friday the police chief and mayor of DC ordered police officers who had been assembling to dismantle the tents to stand down, saying they were worried about being seen to act against peaceful protesters, the Washington Post reported.
Yup, all about the optics. The chief bastard and mayor love it when they secretly brutalize peaceful protesters.
The mayor, Muriel Bowser, and the police chief, Pamela Smith, were set to answer questions from US Congress members on Wednesday about why they failed to respond to the university’s request to clear the campus until now.
Maybe their checks from AIPAC and their party’s oppression funds hadn’t cleared yet 🖕
- Comment on Congress to examine Havana syndrome again after Russian involvement report 1 week ago:
It’s bullshit. There’s no such thing as “Havana Syndrome”.
- Comment on Congress to examine Havana syndrome again after Russian involvement report 1 week ago:
Havana syndrome:
a disputed medical condition reported primarily by U.S. diplomatic, intelligence, and military officials stationed in overseas locations.
In other words: almost certainly nothing but bullshit/a convenient fiction for officials to use against foreigners

Fun fact: providing an accurate example of someone spreading hate isn’t itself spreading hate.
Only cult members consider good faith accusations leveled against their leaders to be inherently hateful.
And no, that’s not hate either. That’s ridicule based on observed behavior patterns.

The ACTUAL left (unlike the arrogant center right to right wing corporate stooges in control of the Dem party falsely claiming to be on the left) SHARE that same anger.
We just don’t blame minorities, secularism, the concept of objective knowledge and a lack of bigotry for what is clearly the fault of mainly rich and powerful white conservative and centrist people.
