Counterpoint: when I worked at Panda Express, I used to leave fake reviews on our store about how helpful and professional pp_boy_ was because I wanted a raise. Never did it on any accounts attached to my name though.

Yup. California isn’t a look into a future Leftist America, it’s a warning of what could be without serious checks of who we let run the party.

The oldest Zoomers turn 29 this year.
One of the strangest phenomenon of the obesity epidemic has been the gross infantilization of young, fit adult women as being “teens” just because they don’t have the “+10yr perceived age” effect that comes with years of obesity.

Yeah… I’ll take the two on the left who aren’t dying of heart disease at 35.

Surely no coincidence that being obese is a gateway to hyperconsumerism anyway. Sugary, fatty, processed snack foods are way more profitable than healthy meals.
Walking around town is free, can’t have that. Sit at this computer chair, watch advertisements and play video games instead.
Heart disease at 26? That’ll be $2k/month until you die.
Get depressed, buy the meds, never leave your couch, and - most of all - you are beautiful.

Oh yeah I’ve seen that one many times. Girl shoots her younger brother playing with the loaded gun, panics, then shoots herself and falls to the floor. Video ends with the parents(?) busting through the door screaming. It’s a doozy

thus the inevitable occurs. (Emphasis added)
- Comment on Why Do Sovereign Citizens Keep Pursuing Unsuccessful Legal Defenses? 5 days ago:
The prerequisite for joining such hyperindividualistic ideologies is the belief that you’re better/more important than others, that the work of others can’t be depended on (“if you want it done right, you’ve got to to it yourself” fallacy mindset).
Why do people continue to adopt this seemingly futile approach? It’s akin to watching 5,000 parachutists attempt a failed jump from the Eiffel Tower, only for newcomers to keep trying despite knowing, or perhaps ignoring, the inevitable outcome. Despite the growing pile of mangled bodies at the base of the tower, every day people decide to climb up and try for themselves.
“Well duh, those people failed because they weren’t me!”

Fair advice but S1 of Adventure Time is pretty bad and most of the worldbuilding was forgotten anyway
- Comment on On the prospect of an $80-$90 GTA 6, former PlayStation boss says 'it's an impossible equation' for big-budget studios to keep their prices down 6 days ago:
But I’d still argue the solution is to cut costs, not increase prices.
This is the solution moving forward and is probably what most studios are doing right now (see: publishers shelving low-profit studios, massive layoffs, etc.), but the issue is that the games launching right now with $70-100 price tags have been in development for years. Their budgets were written under contract during the boom a few years ago, they can’t just “unspend” that money, but at the same time, they’re probably seeing that gamers are being a lot tighter with their wallets these days.
I’m obviously never one to praise higher prices for the same thing, but I at least get why major releases are feeling justified to charge a higher door fee for the base game than to gamble on the freemium market (See: Concord).

All fair points, just depends on where your motivation to self host comes from. $7 for a monthly sub to Plex is frankly nothing to me, I don’t even have the charge linked to my budget spreadsheet. Between Plex, VPN, my usenet provider, private tracker memberships, electricity, etc., I’m not even sure I’m saving much money versus having one or two streaming subscriptions. In other words, I don’t do it to save money.
PlexAmp alone justifies the cost even before some features got put behind a paywall but the fact that all my tech-illiterate friends can just download an app on their phones/consoles and watch whatever they want in a high bitrate off my computer makes it worth it for me. 9/10, I just watch films off VLC player anyway.

That isn’t true. A Plex pass from the server owner will cover access for all users

You can selfhost for free however you want but software developers have the right to ask for money to use their software. I selfhost about 60tb of media and have paid for Plex monthly for about 10 years now. They are still so far above the competition for ease-of-use that I wouldn’t even consider switching at this point, even to save $7/month.
