Yo, please edit this post to specify that this isn’t in any way confirmed. Don’t need to be making me pull my hair out over one guy with a pin.
Okay, who had Trump loyalty pins for Apocalyptic-Bingo this Sunday? Games just getting started, stay tuned!

Snopes: A White House official said via email: “Obviously, we did not order officials to wear this pin. If they choose to wear one, it is to show support for the greatest President in history.” Brendan Carr, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) chair seen in photos wearing the golden Trump lapel pin, had not responded to requests for comment about why he wore the pin at the time of this writing.
Still pretty fucked.

So it’s more of a “It would be really nice if everyone could wear a pin” kind of thing.
Kind of like “Oh, won’t someone rid me of…”
SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 1 month ago
Of course it’s not an order. They need to know who is slavish enough to wear it voluntarily.

Sad it’s coming to this, but the flag pin was at one point or another leading to this kind of stuff. I wish this would have just led to bigger and bigger pins to show that people are more patriotic than their opponent.

Even as a kid I hated patriotism
To me I only saw it as a blind following. My parents disagreed of course
Now I’m older and I realize my parents are idiots when it comes to this and low key Trump supporters
gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 1 month ago
The rise of conspicuous nationalism - and I’m intentionally calling it nationalism, not patriotism - in the US had been a disgusting thing to witness over the last 2.5 decades, as a resident.

I’m a little surprised he had his jowls and pig cheeks so aptly cast and I’m not surprised in the least every Republican will throw their American flags in whatever trash can he points to to suck his weird mushroom dick while wearing his ugly fucking face.
kryptonianCodeMonkey@lemmy.world 1 month ago
Hey is a clinical narcissist. He does not have anything objective sense of reality when it comes to himself. He genuinely thinks he is a strong athletic intimidating and beautiful person (jowls and all). He thinks he can out swim an femal olympic swimmer, that he is smarter than PhD’s and MD’s, and that he has more political prowess than anyone in history. When he says he is the greatest president, the greatest golfer, the greatest… whatever… in history, he is not exaggerating for emphasis. He is deluded and actually believes it.

There’s no evidence of a “command”, just the fcc dude was wearing it
Don’t get me wrong, even then that people are starting to wear it is weird, but integrity should still be kept in reporting the facts instead of reporting speculation as fact.

I mean it’s almost as if it never happe…no, what am I saying. It’s not as if a tRUMPf would ever blatantly lie.No, I’m absolutely sure that it definitely wasn’t just an ikkle tiny (like his hands) cut that happened when the bullet wisped inches away from his stunningly thin skin rupturing it. No, it positively ripped his ear to pieces and the best, most tremendous, beautiful, tremendous, perfect surgeons put him all back together again like fucking Humpty Bastard Dumpty could only wish for. Yes, that’s it!!
Also, he’s a cunt.

Maalus@lemmy.world 1 month ago
The flag pin is equally as cringe
ilinamorato@lemmy.world 1 month ago
Not equally. It is cringe, but at least the cult surrounding it is an idea, not a person. Centering your entire movement around a person is definitely worse.

Had someone brag about one of these hideous things at work, shortly after election. He was so excited to show it off. Haven’t seen him or his ugly gold lump since then.
A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 1 month ago
You think it’s gold?
Anyhow, it’s jarring to meet such people IRL. I don’t live in the USA (I guess I’d be constantly jarred if I did) but even so I had a Trumpist coworker once - it was jarring.

Definitely not concerning to put a persona above the country. If only there was a term for an exaggerated form of admiration and reverence directed towards a political leader, often cultivated through propaganda and media manipulation.

Just the fact that I saw this, and it surprised me not at all, is a huge red flag. I totally understand that it’s been (at least mostly) disproven, and it was likely just one asshat in his cabinet doing it for the sake of making sure their nose was lodged just as far as humanly possible into Trump’s ass.
I would, just once, like to see something like this and be able to assume it’s from the onion. Instead, every time I see something like this, I have to check, because as ridiculous as it is, it’s well within the new standard for POTUS.
CheeseToastie@lazysoci.al 1 month ago
Yep that’s the problem. Bush was a twat, but a story like this about him would be dubious. Trump, I can genuinely see it

Soon people outside the cabinet will be required to wear them. All the gov agencies, public servants, ultimately military, etc.
No pin, no “due process”.WhatYouNeed@lemmy.world 1 month ago
And certain people will have to wear an icon on their clothes. Jews have to wear a yellow star, gays a pink triangle, etc

Now the gov is finally providing a clear service for its people!

From a few good men: “Unit, core, god, country”.
Pretty certain that any leader of the marine core will be required to wear the Trump pin, and the new loyalty mandate becomes: Unit, Trump, core, god, country.

The is this scene in the wire where a criminal informant (who is a drug addict) acts as if he sells hats to a group of higher up drug dealers a way to tell the cops about their identity. During this interaction he only puts the red hat on the important people while they are being photographed from afar so he can later tell the cops about their names and position. Smart Trump doesn’t need a hostile informant to help the cops.
These pins will later help the justice system identify his friends.

If you see a government employee wearing one of these take their picture and report them for a Hatch Act violation
Sizing2673@lemmy.world 1 month ago
Can you explain?
MunkyNutts@lemmy.world 1 month ago
Hatch Act violation
Alexstarfire@lemmy.world 1 month ago
I don’t think this counts. However, ‘The act also precludes federal employees from membership in “any political organization which advocates the overthrow of our constitutional form of government.”’ Can this be used to kick out most everyone that Trump has appointed? Seems like that’s the goal of the Republicans right now.
