Yep! Only about twice in several years though. Sometimes it’s the same company that started up or bough another company and gave your email without telling you.

That was the case for most of the time heat pumps existed which is why the claim that you can’t use heat pumps in very cold climates is still common.
However, the technology has improved significantly and there are now modern cold climate heat pumps which have eliminated the need for natural gas furnaces. Over 2/3 of households in Norway use heat pumps today.

I’m all for using methane as a biproduct of sewage or composting, however “natural gas” used to heat homes, generate electricity, or power cars is a misnomer. Natural gas from oil companies for these purposes are just them selling us the methane biproduct of fracking. Solar > natural gas power plants and heat pumps > natural gas heaters.
Unfortunately, most methane used today is contributing to global warming and increasing the profitability of fracking and oil.
It’s akin to how dairy companies get whey as a biproduct when they skim milk and instead of throwing it out, they started selling it for protein powder and as a food additive to increase profits.

I certainly agree that we’ve gotten much better at safely producing and storing. However, with climate change worsening, we continue to have unprecedented natural disasters in unexpected areas which concerns me the most.
- Comment on Considerations on which houseplant to start with 7 months ago:
Pothos or snake plant. Pothos are easy to make thrive and grow which is rewarding. Snake plant thrives if you rarely water it but it grows slowly.
Both can be found for easonable prices and people are always happy to give others a pothos cutting.

I’m a big fan of pothos! So lush and easy to take care of.
Snake plants are super easy if you just ignore them but I find people starting out with houseplants tend to overwater which snake plants do not like.
- Comment on How to prep for cold in Southern US 1 year ago:
They work at least as well as CFL of fluorescent. The full spectrum bulbs emit all wavelengths, so that’s why it’s best to go for the harshest, whitest bulb. LED bulbs are used for most growlights.
- Comment on How to prep for cold in Southern US 1 year ago:
It’s worth mentioning that there’s no difference between grow light branded lights and regular LED bulbs. I’ve had a basic 4.5W Philips A19 LED bulb for a while now that’s only 810 lumens and my string of turtles and alocasia love it. It also used about 1¢ this past month, as per my smart plug. Just be sure to go for the whitest option available for the best effects.
