I’m as late as millenials get and I got a 4 😭 I never recorded radio to cassete, I never rented from Blockbuster, never listened to a boombox outside, and never used a rotary phone. I had the advanced technology of touch tone

6, I’m surprised I’m 31yo
SAF77@lemmy.world 11 months ago
2 points, fuckers!
grrgyle@slrpnk.net 11 months ago
I mean I am old, yes, but I feel like most North American millennials would get the same.
tias@discuss.tchncs.de 11 months ago
I hate to break it to you but… millennials are old
grrgyle@slrpnk.net 11 months ago
Wait, that can’t be right. No, I was just playing Smash Bros with my room mates a moment ago, like just… twenty … years ago … oh

0 point gang rise up.
But don’t rise too quickly. I know our backs don’t like that.
rob_t_firefly@lemmy.world 11 months ago
Hey folks, is this where the old farts are hanging out? Point me toward the bathroom, I’ll be a while.
MoreFPSmorebetter@lemmy.zip 11 months ago
Whoa whoa whoa. I’m only 33. I just happened to like old shit growing up and I got to use it all right as it went out the door and got replaced haha.
Chip_Rat@lemmy.world 11 months ago
Yeah I can’t recall using a typewriter seriously, but for sure I’ve used on for fun. Also trying to get a commodore 64 to print my homework in 1992 should aub in nicely.
MoreFPSmorebetter@lemmy.zip 11 months ago
My great aunt left me her typewriter when she passed. My father holds onto it as I have nowhere too to store it and he enjoys using it from time to time. It’s becoming harder and harder to find replacement ribbons or people that can repair it at all, but it’s still kicking. I typed out a few short papers on it in highschool just for fun.
I’m not 100% sure that’s the exact model I have but it looks like the right one.
Tedesche@lemmy.world 11 months ago
Yup, flat zero.
Bruncvik@lemmy.world 11 months ago
Preach on, brother. Just came back from my physio. He did some dry needling on my lower back because it ain’t what it used to be when I was still Wired for Sound.
Jumi@lemmy.world 11 months ago
I have 1 point but only because there was never a Blockbuster in Germany. Can I rise too?
shalafi@lemmy.world 11 months ago
The fire rises brother! (OK, not an appropriate quote, just wanted to say it.)
Ilovethebomb@lemm.ee 11 months ago
I assume there was an equivalent service though?
absGeekNZ@lemmy.nz 11 months ago
Same, 1 point because no Blockbuster in NZ
MoreFPSmorebetter@lemmy.zip 11 months ago
You can rise… But let’s be extra careful with raising that right arm.
NotNow@lemmy.world 11 months ago
Also german, I guess any spot to take out videos counts also. So welcome to the “0 point club”.
Sk3rgi0@lemm.ee 11 months ago
I got zero.
Yes I’m old. On the plus side I still have my family commadore 64 from 1982.
shalafi@lemmy.world 11 months ago
So wish I still had my VIC-20 and 64.

2 points, but only because we don’t have blockbuster where I’m from, I have rented movies though. I have also never used a check to pay for anything.
raspberriesareyummy@lemmy.world 11 months ago
1 point for the same reason, but having used traveler’s cheques :)
4shtonButcher@discuss.tchncs.de 11 months ago
Same.
Raiderkev@lemmy.world 11 months ago
1 point, only because my parents never bought an encyclopedia set. They were absolutely a thing when I was a kid. I definitely used one before, but never owned them. Hooray for being old I guess.
GCanuck@lemmy.world 11 months ago
I wasn’t sure if my parents owning an encyclopedia set qualified me for the point or not.
But then I remembered I owned the Microsoft Encarta encyclopedia CD. Did you own that?
Raiderkev@lemmy.world 11 months ago
Absolutely, but I don’t think that counts and docked myself that point.
Nfamwap@lemmy.world 11 months ago

Pirtatogna@lemmy.world 11 months ago
1 point. Never listened to a boombox outside. I have owned a boombox, though.
Treczoks@lemmy.world 11 months ago
Two: I am mussing the boombox experience, and Bockbuster never made it to my country.

tgxn@lemmy.tgxn.net 11 months ago
who listens to boomboxes outside? jerks
undeffeined@lemmy.ml 11 months ago
I did once…
I never sent a fax though.
Raiderkev@lemmy.world 11 months ago
In college, I played lacrosse. My teammate bought a Bluetooth 80’s style boombox to play in the bus on trips and to set the vibe coming off the bus and play music During warmups at away games. Honestly that thing was great. Outside of that particular context? Yeah, pretty shitty thing to do lol.
AceFuzzLord@lemm.ee 11 months ago
13 points for me.
mkhopper@lemmy.world 11 months ago
I’ve never actually owned a set of encyclopedias.
Treczoks@lemmy.world 11 months ago
I own one, and I have read it.
Korhaka@sopuli.xyz 11 months ago
I have listened to a cassette but not a CD. It was mainly stories when I was young. By the time I was had any interest in music, limewire existed. Once limewire died I downloaded from youtube instead.
Mickey7@lemmy.world 11 months ago
Another reminder of the past - Limewire. Anyone also remember Napster?
Syltti@lemmy.world 11 months ago
4 points. Being a 90’s baby, got to do a fair number of these.
2xsaiko@discuss.tchncs.de 11 months ago
8 points! 8, 9, 12, 13, 14, 17, 19, 20
juliebean@lemm.ee 11 months ago
i’m in my mid 30s, live in the US, and get one or two points. i am pretty sure i’ve never recorded music off the radio onto a tape. i am not sure if i’ve ever sent or received a fax. i did record songs off of the radio directly onto my first mp3 player though.
phoenixz@lemmy.ca 11 months ago
Boooommmm, bitches, 20 points! I win!
ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world 11 months ago
I’m giving myself half a point because I’ve used a typewriter but it was just playing around at my grandma’s house.
Ziglin@lemmy.world 11 months ago
But you’ve done all the other things?
ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world 11 months ago
Yeah. I was younger when I did most of them but still very clearly remember them.
ObviouslyNotBanana@lemmy.world 11 months ago
2 points!
