Thanks!
- Comment on In the era of remakes and remasters, what niche game would you like to see receive the treatment? 3 weeks ago:
I LOVED that game as a kid. One of the few games where I enjoyed both vs and coop campaign stuff

Wasn’t MW open-world?

Thanks, I honestly didn’t know! I’ve only really adopted Lemmy for almost daily use a few weeks back and mostly read tech related stuff and it’s been blissfully apolitical for the most part. Some of it is on .ml - I now understand the issue and will look out for it/support communities on other instances where possible.

Huh, interesting! Thanks a lot! I guess I’ll keep reading the communities on lemmy.ml but avoid joining more. And if I ever encounter the issues described I hope I’ll find similar communities elsewhere. So far everything on Lemmy is so much better than in any other platforms that I’m quite happy.

I honestly cannot find it. I find that Hexbear and Lemmigrad are frowned upon (hadn’t previously encountered them), but I actually find a few recommendations about Lemmy.ml. And many of my own subs are from there. I’d really like to understand!

I see people in that thread recommending to avoid lemmy.ml - what’s up with that?!?

I’d play NFSU in modern graphics! But apparently linear games are not allowed any more and it always has to be open world and come with seasons and DLCs and all that.
- Comment on The Magic Keyboard and Mouse now use USB-C! 3 weeks ago:
I bought an MX3 on a sale when leaving one job that wanted the mouse back and coming to one that didn’t offer one (or maybe I simply wasn’t patient enough?). The next job at an MX2S from a previous employee in the box with factory sealed cheapo mice. Easy choice to go for the used MX. sometimes I get confused when they’re accidentally in the same place 😅 also love the three channels for pairing to different devices. Even comes in handy on the iPad once in a while.
- Comment on The Magic Keyboard and Mouse now use USB-C! 3 weeks ago:
The Logitech MX Master is the best productivity mouse ever. Apple apparently has no desire to compete with it.

Can’t we ever have software that just keeps working? Password managers are like the new RSS readers.
- search around for a good one
- find a nice one and start using it
- they add stuff you didn’t want and slowly make it worse
- they’re bought up/ abandoned/ otherwise become unviable

- Comment on Apple Shares Full iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro Repair Manuals 1 month ago:
I really miss repairable devices. Repairing the cracked screen of the iPad Pro I bought a few years ago would cost over 60% of the price I paid for the device. I would have gladly taken a thicker device if that meant it were repairable.
- Comment on SimpleX Chat - Next Level Private Messaging 1 month ago:
Any reason to use this over signal with friends and family?
- Comment on What kind of messaging apps do you use? 2 months ago:
I’d love to use Signal exclusively and recommend it or move over group chats wherever possible. But some friends and family keep me on WhatsApp and messenger. IMHO using those less is better than using them a lot and having more apps is better than socially isolating yourself.
- Comment on E Ink faces growing competition in the "paper-like" display space - Liliputing 2 months ago:
Especially excited bout the smaller screen sizes. I like my small eReader but sometimes need something larger for PDFs and to make highlighting and searching easier in non-fiction books. The giant tablet I am typing this on is nice for web and video, but it’s just too massive for reading and it appears tablets have the seem problem as smartphones with becoming ever bigger.
- Comment on Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.1 Patch Notes 11 months ago:
Never tried it after consciously skipping it on release due to lacking optimization for series X and not enough power on my desktop. And then life happened and I never found time. This sounds pretty good, glad to see they’re still improving it. I loved Witcher III even thought I was several years late, looks like this might be similar.
- Comment on Fairphone has created a smartphone that owners can repair themselves - This sustainable smartphone aims to reduce global electronic waste 11 months ago:
Prices for parts and the actual service being carried out are often more than half the price of a new device so even people that would want to repair end up not doing so. The Fairphone is seriously improving that equation!

The problem is there is no competition here. I’d love to see several repairable smartphones with slightly different features that create some competition. For example something with a max 5.5” screen and only a single camera.
- Comment on [question] Which ML library should I learn in Python? 1 year ago:
I’m not personally coding with them, just often supporting people and their projects that do. Keras is also popular but I’ve at least personally seen slightly shoddier implementations with it. That could be selection bias though.
- Comment on [question] Which ML library should I learn in Python? 1 year ago:
Maybe find some code to look at on the HuggingFace hub page? HuggingFace libraries or PyTorch are likely to give you really good learning opportunities and examples. Just keep an eye out for timestamps of articles or version numbers. And of course use venv/conda/… to not mess up your version when trying out different things 😉
