If it gets posted, then you upvote, and it gets banned later they’ll issue a mass warning to everyone that up voted out before the ban.
Ledericas@lemm.ee 2 months ago
that retroactive banning is so wierd and unique to reddit. a warning in reddit is just an excuse to ban you for another simple misstep.

I was waiting for Reddit to bend in the same way the others have. It was only a matter of time.
ghostrider2112@lemmy.world 2 months ago
Reddit doesn’t just bend over, they help insert it in.
PixelPilgrim@lemmings.world 2 months ago
So if the content is banned how are people up voting it?
steelrat@lemmy.world 2 months ago
Reddit anti-evil teams (there are several and various AI content implementations) that lets most things cook for 24 hours and then remove it weather it’s been previously removed or not. They also include a community health score in new reddit that shows how often mods agreed with their AI and keyword whammies. Reddit CEO says that they want no mods and just AI eventually.
Eventually it’ll all just be bots commenting and getting banned by other bots.
smeenz@lemmy.nz 2 months ago
It’s not that sort of ‘whether’
KulunkelBoom@lemm.ee 2 months ago
One would think that banned content couldn’t be voted upon. Sounds like reddit is using any excuse to censor any use other than “sponsored”.

I got suspended because I was banned from a sub years ago on a different account, and I can’t block that subreddit. Accidentally commented on r/all, instantly suspended for ‘ban evasion’. I didn’t make a secret of the alt account, I made it to avoid doxxing. I didn’t want to comment on the subreddit, I’d block it from my feed if I could. Reddit knew I was banned and could have just kept me from posting there in the first place. Instead, suspension for evasion. Their whole setup is truly bizarre.
Anyway it dramatically reduced my doomscrolling so it wasn’t a bad thing

Reddit has begun sucking trump’s dick. I wondered if it had anything to do with musk plying his evil across the internet.
Oh well… Thanks for responding! Have a great weekend!
sheetzoos@lemmy.world 2 months ago
The people running Reddit are so useless that they can’t ban things they don’t like fast enough, so they have to punish their userbase for their ineptitude.

God damn reddit dropped the ball so hard over the years
fin@sh.itjust.works 2 months ago
wow so many newcomers in this thread. Welcome guys!
Pyr_Pressure@lemmy.ca 2 months ago
Maybe if they actually had good moderators to prevent that content getting upvoted in the first place…
Ledericas@lemm.ee 2 months ago
There are power mods which are the worst and between 92 of them they own over 500subs. And the low level ones which are just as complicit with reddit admins and spez
gutsnsuch@lemm.ee 2 months ago
Oh no! Anyways…
Omega_Man@lemmy.world 2 months ago
And now here I am.
KillerSpacePotatoes@lemmy.world 2 months ago
Yeah, that’s why I’m here now. That site has just been getting shittier and shittier.
Panamalt@sh.itjust.works 2 months ago
Sounds like its time to completely flood Reddit with ‘bannable’ content
mrodri89@lemmy.zip 2 months ago
Its so obvious Reddit is just swarming with bot users. Not sure why most users haven’t just come to Lemmy already.
explodicle@sh.itjust.works 2 months ago
- Niche communities
- Addictive algorithms
- Fediverse complexity
mrodri89@lemmy.zip 2 months ago
I honestly dont think its complicated. People who cant figure it out or look on YouTube wouldn’t probably have great ideas to share. 😆
DarkFuture@lemmy.world 2 months ago
Fediverse complexity is definitely part of it. But it does keep some of the riff raff out.
Ledericas@lemm.ee 2 months ago
there was a post a few years ago, that reddit was about half bot comments, mostly from propaganda sources. reddit has been cracking down on the wrong bots though, going after of accts mostly.
goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 2 months ago
Where is reddit announcing this???
Daemedeor@lemmy.ca 2 months ago
I accidentally upvote, so even if I undo it, I think it’s only a matter of time. Plus they didn’t even think about edited posts. It may not start off with affecting a lot of people but may grow that way. It is what is pushing me to lemmy and I hope to join you guys for good convo!
Phoenicianpirate@lemm.ee 2 months ago
Fuck it, I’m going to delete the account that I used to get over a previous permaban. I’ll read, but not post. No point in just posting anyway.
GrungeRob@lemmy.ca 2 months ago
I got banned from my city’s subreddit for calling out racism and within minutes was then banned 3 other Canadian subreddits.
The Russkies seem to have a stranglehold on our social media platforms
SocialJusticeWhat@lemmy.world 2 months ago
Why I’m here on Lemmy now lol.
eurotec@lemmy.world 2 months ago
I think Reddit should be less strict on their ban policy. In my opinion, bans should not usually be permanent and certain disturbing content should be limited to certain subreddits and strictly prohibit any illegal content (under California or any Western law).
Ledericas@lemm.ee 2 months ago
They were like that before, but the last few months that have been super aggressive in banning people, they originally paid no attention to accounts commenting on subs that were banned years ago, they decided that was no longer the case. And also people getting shadow banned out of the blue too

yournamehere@lemm.ee 2 months ago
paywall it, have bot create content, ban all humans.
reddit is the internet of things.
Rododenderon@lemmy.cafe 2 months ago
Left because any form of critique gets you a ban. People rather look away from problems so they can say they don’t see any.
Ymer@feddit.dk 2 months ago
So how do I go about finding some of these soon-to-be-banned posts? I want my old Reddit account to be part of the statistics 😁
jonincalgary@lemmy.ca 2 months ago
Reddit got digged.
madcaesar@lemmy.world 2 months ago
Honestly what reddish did/is doing is far far worse than what digg did.
Reddit was lucky no-one else was really around to take away their user base. Lemmy is good, but it’s too hard to setup for the average schmoe
KingThrillgore@lemmy.ml 2 months ago
Digg died before it had to face any of what reddit turned into. I envy it, really.
