- Comment on Firefox Will Ship with an "AI Kill Switch" to Completely Disable all AI Features - 9to5Linux 2 weeks ago:
Unpopular opinion, I can kind of see why they want to bring AI features. I would much ratter like they rely on third parties plugins for AI implementation, but if some AI features becomes standard in next couples of months/years, people will blame them for not have jumped on that train. I’m really skeptical about all of this but I’m willing to wait and see what exactly they have in mind. I won’t hesitate to switch to a fork if it’s some google-like bullshit. Careful Mozilla, we are legions to watch your next move.

After the normalisation of racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, white-supremacy, maga is now explaining us how raping kids is not actually pedophilia. Or if it is it’s because those kids where beging for it. And if they didn’t they just deserved it and the age of consent is a woke concept anyway.

Soon enough, Disney will offer a personalize experience to white supremacists pigs where all the good characters are white, and you can pick the bad guy’s skin colors. “Jesus had blond hair and blue eyes mom!” “Of course honey, just like Aladin.”

Fair enough, these are interesting points. I pay for ssd storage and host Nextcloud on it. It use to be quite sluggish but nowadays it’s fast enough for my needs so I don’t really see any reason to change. I use the office suite, the rss feed reader, memories to sync my pictures, task, and quite a few things actually. I dont need talk much for now but I might. So yeah, it really suite my needs for now.

What’s wrong with Nextcloud? It’s not as snappy as google drive but it’s fine for small organisation IMO. I personally really enjoy it.

Europeans are pretty active on this mater. I’m always amaze by how much people go to bistro bin France and Belgium. I think this applies to pub in England too. In Quebec, I think it was morr common in the 60, 70 and earlier and fade away with the importance TV and later the Internet took in people’s home. Now when I go back to some small cities that use to have pretty active downtowns in the late 90s and 200Os, it’s absolutely dead. The only bars that survive have a crowd of people in their 40s and more. It use be full of young people, but now I guess they just "flix and chill’…

I dont understand the use people make of AI. I know a lot of of professionnal composer who are like “That’s awesome, AI does the music for me now!” and I’m like, cool, now you only have the boring part of the job to do since the fun part was made by AI. Creating the music is litteraly the only fun part, I hate everything around it.

You have no idea how deep the education system is now into gafam. To study in Quebec now, you absolutly need a cell phone with ms authenticator, teams is basically mandatory, etc. I’m one of the only teacher at my college that cares enough to show use and show foss alternative to my students. For example Moodle is the most powerfull tool a teacher could dream of for grades, quizz, file sharing, assigments, etc. Yet most teachers prefer ms bullshit suite for everything…

No matter what your opinion on fb is, each time I do my presentation, it’s the main thing people ask me for. To my suprise, even my students in their young 20s are using it a lot, and it’s the main platform for people over 40. Billion of people uses it everyday so I wouldn’t call it has-been. If we could bring even a small percentage of these people to the fedi, it would destabilise the economic model social media is based on. I’m not saying I like fb, I actually never have, but we can’t pretend people are over with it.
