Where is this free healthcare? Because I’m paying out the ass for my very minimal coverage.
Young men are 'playing videogames all day' instead of getting jobs because they can mooch off of free healthcare, claims congressman

Shut the fuck up, boomer. No seriously, get that dated, old man yells at cloud bullshit out of politics.

Why would anyone want to waste their life working for any of these exploitive cunts. I’d much rather play video games.
Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 1 month ago
Does getting health care mean leaving your basement?
If so, young men aren’t doing it.
Hell, I leave my basement frequently and don’t want to get health care because I’m sure it will bankrupt me.
If someone callled me an ambulance I’d fight them because I don’t have ambulance money.
UltraGiGaGigantic@lemmy.ml 1 month ago
Can confirm. I dont leave my basement or get healthcare.

Is this the one who gets his son to monitor whether he’s masturbating or not? Or is that some other guy?

Oooh, I’m one of those! Gaming on foodstamps and social health in a US state, AMA.

How does it feel being rich???
dzsimbo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 month ago
Truly wonderful.
You need the gaming in this lifestyle to help divert attention from not being able to get comfort foods at month’s end.
Otherwise it leaves me all the time to realize the physical and mental hells I am putting myself through. I’ve been qualified for free health care for over a year, but I just arrived to the point where I can reach out and engage the system. I initially thought enrolling would come in handy if I get into an accident, but last week I made the call to start preventive treatments.
I have an appointment with an actual doctor next month. I am also getting the ball rolling on the emotional side. I was contemplating moving back home, but now I might give this current iteration some more time.

So basically, they are mooching off of free healthcare - by performing by one of the most risk free activities that is almost going to guarantee they won’t need healthcare in the first place?
MAGA tactic:
Take negative stereotype, say it is preventing a desirable goal from being reached, then say it is because of what you are actually trying to cut. Doesn’t matter if they barely have any real relation to each other.

Does he realize these unemployed, dirty gamers who complain but don’t do anything productive tend to lean conservative?

No that is what billionaires do mooch off the tax payer.

Just in case you forgot, getting rid of video games is part of Project 2025. Republicans have had a vendetta against them since Mortal Kombat came out in the arcades back in the 90s.

Sounds about right.

Could you give a reference? I don’t doubt what you’re saying, I just think it would be helpful for people to see it.

As an Aussie who has always enjoyed playing (and making) games, I’ve had free healthcare all my life and have only worked my arse off… Like most people I know.
ms_lane@lemmy.world 1 month ago
*Used to get free healthcare.
Dunno how it is where you are, but bulk billing GPs just don’t exist anymore in SA.
Drbreen@sh.itjust.works 1 month ago
It’s getting harder but they are there. But hey, if I break my leg and go to ER at a public hospital, even though I have to wait a shit load of hours, I won’t pay anything when I walk out.

Magats shit on women… Still get women votes… Shit in soliders still get soldiers votes… Shit on Mexicans… Still get Mexican votes… Shit on men…still get men votes…
I don’t know who this says more about… The voting group or Democrats that can’t win despite this shit.

the population of young men who do nothing all day, have no interest in employment, but are also extremely motivated to apply for and maintain their access to healthcare and make regular doctor appointments

Young men have no idea what health care is, nor do they care.
They are healthy and heal fast.
They are the ones who traditionally pay in and dont take out.

As someone who is 25 I must agree, not only do I not give a damn I actively welcome death. Shitty fucken eyesight not withstanding, I think there’s thinner ballistic glass

The problem is not this bloke. The problem is the people that voted for him.
sugar_in_your_tea@sh.itjust.works 1 month ago
Maybe. But in many areas, only one party realistically has a shot, so reps basically get elected in their primary process. So instead of needing a majority of the total population to win, you just need a plurality of the few who get involved in the primary process.
Blame the people involved in the primary process, not the people who only vote in the general election.

I pay $60 (or whatever), pay for my data connection, and get to play my game literally for years. It’s one of the cheapest forms of entertainment around. I get tons of value out of my purchase, it reduces stress, I get a sense of challenge out of it, and for the amount I spent I get a lot pf return.
Now if only health care were free. That’s just a bullshit statement and not even worth responding to. That said, In its current state it’s the opposite of video games. It’s expensive. The amount you put in is often not what you get out. It’s stressful.
Maybe the only way it’s like games is that someone can pull the plug on you when it’s not profitable anymore.
Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 1 month ago
Right? I feel bad that it’s beautiful outside and we’re all inside paying games and streaming TV, but every time we leave the house as a family, it ends up costing me at least $100.

You know what, he’s right. I’ll go get off my ass to spend the evening running my 2 million dollar quarts mine and then swing by my 875k dollar quarts furnaces, weight seperation, flotation cells, and crystalization facility to create a bunch of semiconductor grade silicon used in solar and electronics production.
OH WAIT! I DON’T HAVE $3M FACILITIES TO RUN! Somebody else is out there doing the work that used to take a hundred men. The world doesn’t need us all doing 12 hour days, the world wouldn’t take us if we even offered.
dis_honestfamiliar@lemmy.sdf.org 1 month ago
He must be thinking we get the same healthcare they do. That’s how far removed they are.
