50 Cent as a computer scientist.
Entire cast of tbbt, incl. Hawking.
List of women are incapable of convincingly playing <x> incoming…
Robert Pattinson did batman extremely well.
And Affleck was nowhere close to the worst thing thing in those movies…
Racism and sexism on display with this post and comments. cmon, be better.
Did you just have that in the chamber expecting different comments? The overwhelming number of comments here are white, male actors. In fact, so far, only one female actor has been mentioned, and it was in a comment that also mentioned a male actor.
You look like a fool.
I do not. But thanks for the being civil.
nic cageism is a serious blight on society
That too lol
Anna Kendrick as an astronaut scientist in Stowaway
Eh Charlie day is funny as fuck and Pacific Rim is fucking giant robots punching giant monsters, the fuck you need believable scientist in there, my god.
You’re not wrong, I’m just answering the question lol
In Don’t Look Up, DiCaprio’s character is shown getting into flame wars on the internet, and that struck me as something that an astronomer would be above.
The most famous astronomer today can’t STFU on Twitter…
Especially about shit he doesn’t know anything about
Bruh, academic publishing is basically being a professional at flame wars.
I assumed that they did that in their publications and letters to editors, not the YouTube comment sections. I guess I’m wrong.
Ice cube pulled off being a modern social media user in the new war of the worlds themed ad, he didnt even know how to leave the house
isnt that movie just a giant amazon ad.
That was the full-length Amazon ad, right?
Nick Cage in anything
I thought he was great and very believable as a dork in Peggy Sue Got Married.
Fuck right off. He is great in The Pig. He is great in Dream Scenario.
He is MAGNIFICENT in Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent
The weather man? I think he fit very well. Same for Lord of War. I know they are both 20 years old, but still.
I haven’t seen the movie but I remember someone talking about Denise Richards playing a nuclear physicist as one of the most ridiculous things. Don’t know which movie though.
She herself refers to how she played a “nuke-ular psychiatrist in a James Bonk movie” in the episode of 30 Rock where she and Tracy are leading a protest of NBC by their fellow idiots. 🤣
I completely forgot about beer cans that told you how cold they were!
James Bond: The World is Not Enough. www.imdb.com/title/tt0143145/
She played Dr. Christmas Jones and is still the least believable part of any James Bond movie
But was still a fun character and it was a ludicrous but fun movie. At that time, they were leaning into the cheesez rather than trying for gritty, in the Daniel Craig era.
The world is not enough, James Bond. And her name was Christmas Jones so that Bond could make a joke about Christmas coming more than once a year.
I want to mock Bond girl names but I’m not sure I can come up with anything more ridiculous than Goldfinger’s Pussy Galore.
HAHAHAHAHA oh my god that’s so fucking funny.
Are you thinking her Bond movie, The World is Not Enough? I don’t think she was cast because of her ability to accurately portray a scientist…
I don’t know, I just remember that from a youtube vid. 🤷 It could have been cinemasins or some other movie review channel.
I don’t think she was cast because of her ability to accurately portray a scientist…
Scientits on the other hand… 😏
the world is not enough, a pierce brosnan bond movie:
“Posing as a Russian scientist Bond meets American nuclear physicist Dr. Christmas Jones cooperating with Russian armed forces in overseeing the dismantling of the site.”
Aahhh, remember when Russia was seen as an enemy of the US of A? Pepperidge Farm remembers … 🥲
Channing Tatum as a NASA scientist in “fly me to the moon” was just painful.
Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic Park?
Samuel L. Jackson in Jurassic Park!
“Hold onto my butts!”
- Sam Jackson horking down another ciggie
Jeff Goldblum is the worst example, he’s always a scientist!
The Fly!
It’s the glasses. They make him a nerd apparently.
Will Smith in anything Sci-Fi 👎 Scarlett Johansson in anything Sci-Fi 👎
Jessica Alba was great in Dark Angel but nothing since then
i recently saw post about alan tudyk indicating he was cast aside because will smith had to be lead of irobot, and they saw ALan was the better actor for that movie, he seems kind of pissed about it(this came out at the same time that resident alien was cancelled)
Oh I liked Jensen Acjles in Dark Angel, he brought charm and comedic wit to it. Yeah apparently there was some tension but nothing major, just usual work stress
I maintain that Men in Black (the first one) is a masterpiece. Otherwise… yeah.
Under The Skin was a great sci-fi film with Scarlett Johansson leading
Jessica Alba went on to make a few hundred millions selling soap, so shes got that goin for her.
Which is nice.
What?! I, Robot was great!
Honestly, I think iRobot understood the source material better than Foundation.
There were good parts in that movie, but Will Smith wasn’t one of them.
I need you to get on the nearest bus and not ask where the destination is
Independence day was great when it was released. Men in black, too.
Lucy was interesting. Ghost in the machine wasnt as good as the (amazing) original, but was still good.
Ghost in the Shell was horrible. She played the Major as a completely different character than the original. Scarlett Johansen plays a really good seductive spy, but that’s all she plays. Major Kusanagi was ace.
Do you mean ghost in the shell for Scarlett Johansson?
Alba was fantastic in Sin City

Dolph Lundgren in Expendables shows some unusual skills in chemical science.
And yes, I know that Dolph Lundgren studied chemistry IRL

Jack_Burton@lemmy.ca 8 months ago
He didn’t just “study” he has a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering and received a Fulbright Scholoarship at MIT. Pretty spot-on casting honestly.
