- Comment on 'Microslop' is heading for Edge – major browser redesign is inspired by Copilot, and it's already seriously unpopular 1 day ago:
I’ve been using my Steam Deck as my PC, which is Arch Linux. Blender’s only issue for my casual use is that GPU rendering isn’t supported, so for any big rendering job, cloud would be necessary. Otherwise, a more powerful machine would be better, but as for the OS, it’s totally fine. Adobe is another issue, though.

My use of Edge is pretty much only for opening PDFs.

What? I thought this was a non-fantasy medieval game.
- Comment on 2 days ago:
… seriously? So then they’ve fixed that combat with multiple people? Because that, in the first game was absolutely atrocious.
- Comment on Audio dongles and the ghost of USB 1 2 days ago:
I have never owned a phone where the USB port remains functional.
- Comment on Pizza is a tomato pie. 6 days ago:
How else would you refer to a whole pizza? That’s almost always called a pie in my experience, even though people don’t say “a pizza pie” so much.
- Comment on Is there a point we can track down when we stopped caring about doctors, nurses, teacher, etc? And thought it was a great idea to pay atheletes millions and screw everyone else? 1 week ago:
Artists contribute to society. Arguably, the great painters, writers, and musicians should regularly be paid more than athletes and movie and radio pop stars.

The Steam Deck. It’s been my daily PC since I got it.

…the Enterprise? You use the Enterprise?

Adobe.
- Comment on AI-generated code contains more bugs and errors than human output 2 weeks ago:
I’m not a programmer, but I’ve dabbled with Blender for 3D modeling, and it uses Node trees for a lot of different things, which is pretty much a programming GUI. I googled how to make a shader, and the AI gave me instructions. About half of it was complete nonsense, but I did make my shader.
- Comment on Indie Game Awards Disqualifies Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Due To Gen AI Usage 2 weeks ago:
Yes, a few textures. And how is that different from a procedural texture, also made by computer algorithms? And seriously, who gives a fuck if some brick texture is not handmade?
- Comment on Indie Game Awards Disqualifies Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Due To Gen AI Usage 2 weeks ago:
It is fine, and why should there be a disclosure when it’s not in the final product? Why would anyone real care? How does it affect anything?
- Comment on Half-Life 3 Reportedly Delayed Due to Steam Machine Price, Leak Claims 2 weeks ago:
Game is delayed because they couldn’t tell people about it on a stage. This sounds logical.
- Comment on Half-Life 3 Reportedly Delayed Due to Steam Machine Price, Leak Claims 2 weeks ago:
It is kind of funny how the title says one thing, and then the very next sentence says loljk, just the announcement, which has obviously zero things in common with development.
- Comment on Why does everyone put celery in soup stock? 3 weeks ago:
I fucking hate fennel, but I couldn’t possibly be more indifferent to celery. Ive never even considered it to have much taste. Fennel and licorice, though? VILE.
- Comment on Why does everyone put celery in soup stock? 3 weeks ago:
I’m learning today celery has an actual flavor…and I’m perfectly aware of mirepoix.

The flight and combat is just not very fun.
- Comment on Refried beans is just Latino hummus 3 weeks ago:
Pans are often called frying pans. Pan fried is just a bit of oil in a flat pan. Deep fried is submerged like French fries or fried chicken.
- Comment on Refried beans is just Latino hummus 3 weeks ago:
They’re pan fried, sometimes with lard. They’re not really fried twice, I know that.
- Comment on It's quite impressive that most English speakers across the world understand each other, despite variations in accents/dialects 3 weeks ago:
The overwhelming consensus here is that a strong brogue Scottish accent is the main exception.
- Comment on Refried beans is just Latino hummus 3 weeks ago:
Except for the part where hummus isn’t fried even once.
- Comment on I watch the first Star Trek Discovery episode, I didn't like it. 4 weeks ago:
I say it’s the best because it’s not a prequel or a retread. It’s its own story, and it’s also really fucking well done.
And I think SNW took some notes, and that’s why it works.

In the end, I think The Orville is the best of all the new stuff.
- Comment on Google's Agentic AI wipes user's entire HDD without permission in catastrophic failure 5 weeks ago:
I’d compare the Search AI more to Frito in Idiocracy. ChatGPT is like Joe.
- Comment on Google's Agentic AI wipes user's entire HDD without permission in catastrophic failure 5 weeks ago:
Well, there is the minor detail that an AI in this context has zero ability to kill anyone, and that it’s not a true AI like Daneel or his pals.
- Comment on Google's Agentic AI wipes user's entire HDD without permission in catastrophic failure 5 weeks ago:
Google’s search AI is awful. It gives me a wrong answer, I’d say 70% of the time.
- Comment on Valve dev counters calls to scrap Steam AI disclosures, says it's a "technology relying on cultural laundering, IP infringement, and slopification" 5 weeks ago:
…what calls? No one is calling for this. One dude said it was unnecessary. That’s not a call, it’s an opinion. He’s not out picketing for the end of fucking AI labels.
