I mean as much as millennials would hate to hear it they will soon be the largest demographic (if they are not all ready) .
Time will tell if they succumb to the same tropes their parents did it is they get a new fun set of undesirable qualities.

Please don’t let them get me closer to that generation

IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 2 months ago

“They didn’t have no gosh darn pronouns in the buybuhl!”
Jesus: I am he.

God is they/them/he/she. Depending on where it’s referenced.

I don’t often remember tunes but this one played in my head when I saw the image.

And? Adam of Eternia/He-man is awesome. Don’t knock it until you’ve seen what a bad ass Cringer turns into.
corvi@lemmy.zip 2 months ago
The point is that he literally goes by a pronoun, not that it’s a bad show.

This
Godort@lemmy.ca 2 months ago
Having seen the entire run of the 80s show somewhat recently, Adam is at best a bad friend to Cringer and at worst downright abusive.
Like, Cringer has sapience. Full stop. He can talk and everything. Generally he just wants to stay home when Skeletor is up to something. Then Adam rolls by and transforms into He-man and then strips Cringers abnormal intelligence away, turning him into nothing more than a growling beast named Battle Cat that he can ride.

I urge everyone to go play Corpsepile’s “The Man Man”, it’s a browser game. I think you need to be on a keyboard. Go in blind. I went in blind while pot-high for the first time in months and it was a GRAND experience.
shalafi@lemmy.world 2 months ago
I have zero objections to the top row, though they/them is kinda weird. Try reading a book where a character is referred to as they/them, bit confusing.
Trans people? I call them as they wish, not wanting to upset anyone over petty bullshit, but no way I’m calling anyone “fae”. Hir can go fuck themselves. That’s the kinda crap people are objecting to.
For context, that screenshot is a common question on job applications.
andros_rex@lemmy.world 2 months ago
Has anyone ever asked you to call them a neopronoun? Like I’ve been in some queer as fuck spaces and I’ve never encountered someone with neopronouns. I don’t most people have. So it seems the anger is more at an entirely imagined scenario where someone might ask you to call them (oh wow, so confusing) a neopronoun?
It’s just so fucking weird, to be upset at a scenario where someone might ask you to refer to them in a way that you personally think is silly. It has literally zero impact on your life. It gives weird control freak vibes - that other people need to live their lives in a way that makes you comfortable.
Whelks_chance@lemmy.world 2 months ago
There are two replies to the parent comment.
One saying that neo pronouns barely exist, and they’re imagining a person who would be angry at it.
The other comment is basically asking for a fight with their Xe preferred pronoun friend.
I just thought the contrast and dichotomy of that was noteworthy.
shalafi@lemmy.world 2 months ago
I’m not mad, just saying that other people think much of this is silly at best. You just have to frame me as angry to have any sort of rebuttal.
And no, not a soul has asked me to call them any pronoun. I go with what seems to make sense and would be happy to be corrected. But I would still refuse the bullshit pronouns in the pic I posted.
How would you say “ey/em” can go fuck themselves?

Has anyone ever asked you to call them a neopronoun?
Yes. Are you erasing these people?
axexrx@lemmy.world 2 months ago
One of my friends from high school was a ze for a while, while they were actively transitioning, and sort of going in and out of fem/ masc presentations, and dressing. Once she got her breasts done she was just a she though.

Has anyone ever asked you to call them a neopronoun? Like
There was a person on Lemmy for a while who insisted on “dragon rider” as a pronoun
GalacticGrapefruit@lemmy.world 2 months ago
Sent this to a friend. Xe laughed and said, “If they have an issue with it, they can come find me and tell me. Good luck, BTW, we make up less than 1% of the population. If people that rare are pissing you off, find a fucking hobby.”
