Boink! Right into the pillar, again
Szyler@lemmy.world 1 day ago
Just cut it down. /s
Rakonat@lemmy.world 2 days ago
Had to take my coffee table out of my living area to get enough room in my apt. Only other option would have been moving my pc to bedroom and tossing out my bedframe
Klear@lemmy.world 2 days ago
Worth it.
hperrin@lemmy.ca 1 day ago
Throw in a server rack and it’s perfect.
Texas_Hangover@lemmy.radio 2 days ago
I’m too old to be getting down on the fucking ground like that. Needs a frame of cinder blocks and plywood.
Blemgo@lemmy.world 2 days ago
You should do that anyways. Bed frames exost for a reason: it helps to stop moisture building up on the underside of the mattress, and thus prevents mold.
Simulation6@sopuli.xyz 1 day ago
That plus less bugs end up crawling across your face at night.
faythofdragons@slrpnk.net 1 day ago
To be fair, air mattresses are like shittier futons and don’t get moldy because you’re always moving them around.
Source: I used to live with this setup, only in a smaller room.
RaivoKulli@sopuli.xyz 2 days ago
Pfft. Just buy a new mattress and put it in a different place
HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 days ago
I just smother the bottom of my mattress with lotrimin and figure I’m good to go for a few years
voodooattack@lemmy.world 2 days ago
How about a row of cinder blocks along the sides? See? Easy
telllos@lemmy.world 2 days ago
This shit is putting men in a box and " hu duh, men basic, like dog"
Pacattack57@lemmy.world 2 days ago
What would you add other than a better bed?
toddestan@lemmy.world 4 hours ago
Some rope lights would be a nice touch.
BigBananaDealer@lemmy.world 2 days ago
mini fridge for beer
blarghly@lemmy.world 2 days ago
Well, for starters, a bed frame. Lamps for better lighting, an couple night stands, something to divide up the space a bit (assuming this is a studio), book shelves, some plants, some art on the walls, an area rug, table and chairs, and a couple couches and a coffee table, some kind of speaker system, some kind of storage system for any equipment I own for job and hobbies. I also like wooden desks.
Like, the environment you spend time in has an impact on your mental state. Making that environment nice will make you feel better. The way your living space looks also says a lot about you. What this space says is “I literally do nothing but sleep and look at a computer screen”. Which is less “hell yeah” and more “this cyberpunk dystopia isnt as neon as I expected.”
So if this is what you want, then follow your bliss I guess. But also, if you are having trouble dating… Look around you.

And tomorrow they’ll post a picture of a 10,000$ gaming setup with LEDs and shit and claim that women can’t possibly understand spending a ton of money on furniture and decorations.
Not to mention that this joke has been done to death. For years pictures of empty rooms with a matress have been posted to claim that “this is what men want”. (Until next week, when we’ll post a picture of a gaming room full of expensive furniture and elaborate decorations and claim that THIS is what men want, actually, for real, I swear.)
mirisgaiss@lemmy.world 1 day ago
hell, I wish I had something more like that and not a house full of shit I don’t use most of the time.
Evil_Shrubbery@lemmy.zip 2 days ago
Low carbon footprint living gets way more hate it should (and it shouldn’t get any).
ZeffSyde@lemmy.world 1 day ago
I wish I had this much room to practice the blade.
DmMacniel@feddit.org 2 days ago
Out of frame: a huge ass TV and a single armchair.
arrow74@lemmy.zip 2 days ago
Why have an armchair? Just roll the gaming chair over
EpicFailGuy@lemmy.world 2 days ago
hell yeah
Ilixtze@lemmy.ml 2 days ago
It is just missing a cinder block nightstand and a dead plastic plant to tie the place together.
blarghly@lemmy.world 2 days ago
Dead plastic plant. For when you want everyone to know you are irresponsible, but without the responsibility
banazir@lemmy.ml 1 day ago
I’m a responsible adult, which is why I only grow living plastic plants.
kameecoding@lemmy.world 2 days ago
It’s a bit much for me, as I’d want the mattress more elevated, but let me tell you, I am 99% sure I have adhd, and minimalism like this appeals to me so it’s less shit I have take care of, every item in your house is a fucking dust collector that you have to wipe down, fuck that shit, I only want the absolute essentials, rest is slowly going to the bin
superweeniehutjrs@lemmy.world 2 days ago
Needs a motorcycle being rebuilt in it, with that much open space
UxyIVrljPeRl@lemmy.world 2 days ago
Cuts a Wall open, now i can park my car inside.
MissJinx@lemmy.world 2 days ago
Men? Look at this flooring, look at this lighting project! Amazing place
BoxOfFeet@lemmy.world 1 day ago
I need three desks. Modern PC desk, retro PC desk, and a soldering desk. Otherwise, perfect.
doingthestuff@lemy.lol 2 days ago
Needs two more monitors.
ZeffSyde@lemmy.world 1 day ago
Right? What is their workflow even like?
doingthestuff@lemy.lol 1 day ago
I just finished eight months of not having an office. I worked in random places off of only my laptop, 15.5" 1080p. I’m back in an office but not set up yet. For me, two monitors is workable, three is better. Split screen apps on a single laptop screen is barbaric.
outhouseperilous@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 days ago
To be fair, some women would say that too. There’s so much room to build stuff and do projects! I could get so fucking irresponsible!
sundray@lemmus.org 2 days ago
I bet a Hot Wheels would roll real good on that floor.
And009@lemmynsfw.com 2 days ago
This is my room, less space and bigger bed. More screens too ofc
Pendorilan@lemmy.world 2 days ago
Nah man, I need an actual bed lol
rumba@lemmy.zip 2 days ago
I don’t need a bed, but an air mattress is a HARD no.
I’d rather sleep on a clear carpet with a blanket.
thejoker954@lemmy.world 1 day ago
Look it all the space for activities!

This may be too much even
Simulation6@sopuli.xyz 2 days ago
Looks great. Even has guest bedroom.
lorty@lemmy.ml 2 days ago
I don’t get why people hate on this. Do all the useless nick-nacks actually add something to their lives?
If this is all you need, what’s the problem?
WeirdGoesPro@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 days ago
Yes, the knick-knacks are my most prized possessions. Crystal balls, monkey skulls, old clocks—these are the building blocks of my happiness. Nothing brings me more joy than a perfectly arranged curio cabinet. It is like an OCD orgasm.
SonOfAntenora@lemmy.world 2 days ago
Needs more books. Honestly all these minimal setups are kinda bad if you want something that isn’t a computer.
Zacpod@lemmy.world 2 days ago
Not nearly enough screens.
LimpRimble@lemmy.ca 2 days ago
Where’s the cat?
ieGod@lemmy.zip 2 days ago
Incompatible with air mattress.
banazir@lemmy.ml 2 days ago
The minimal furniture and a sense of free space are great for my mental health. A cluttered home to me feels like a cluttered mind. I don’t want to live in a cage of excess stuff, much like I don’t want to carry unhealthy mental baggage with me, pulling me down. You may see a sparse room, but I see freedom from sensory fatigue. I see freedom.
Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 2 days ago
i’ve been getting help these past few weeks cleaning up my room and my god, it’s so nice to just have empty surfaces! It really is like every visible item occupies space in your mind.
though i feel like explicit decorations don’t really take up space in the same way, provided they’re placed correctly.
astutemural@midwest.social 2 days ago
Look at all the space for a mini painting station
Kolanaki@pawb.social 2 days ago
I could be okay, but I also wouldn’t purposely get such a large space when I don’t plan to fill it with stuff. Just give me space big enough for the matress and desk.
NeatNit@discuss.tchncs.de 2 days ago
I love that you look at this and say “woah, that’s way too much, I prefer less”
RogueBanana@lemmy.zip 2 days ago
If it means lower rent then hell yeah!
RaivoKulli@sopuli.xyz 2 days ago
Not much value in empty space
De_Narm@lemmy.world 2 days ago
Ain’t no home with enough open space for all kinds of push ups! If you’re daring, you could even do other exercises too!
jaybone@lemmy.zip 2 days ago
I wouldn’t try jumping jacks there.
