- Comment on U.S. consumers are so financially strained they put more than $1 billion on buy-now, pay later services during Black Friday and Cyber Monday 1 week ago:
Not only rock bottom pay, but crazy long hours.
10-12 hour shifts plus overtime. Thats straight bullshit.
I can understand it in hospitals (although nurses and {most} doctors need to be taken better care of then we do now.) Because it takes a while to safely switch care providers, but industrial work and long hours is just raping workers for profit.
- Comment on Lemmy users who say that Lemmy users are smarter than Reddit users 1 week ago:
Its kind of already happening here - just for different reasons.
There is very little engagement on Lemmy besides in a few communities. What little engagement there is - is driven by a few users.
Even broad conversion topics get very little engagement.
I get not everyone wants to be a topic “starter” (i know I don’t), but they can’t even bother to either:
1: just post a tiny comment (look at “what are you watching” in the movies / TV subs on piefed.Social; seems like a real easy topic for anyone to engage in and yet there’s only ever like 10 posts and zero upvotes)
2: upvote topics or posts; While the points don’t matter - they still show and promote engagement.
Its honestly rather frustrating.
- Comment on Do you cheat in video games? 2 weeks ago:
In single-player games I occasionally “lightly” cheat.
Using “infinite” mods or unlock “everything” mods just ruins all the fun for me.
But unlock a specific thing or get a small amount of rss type cheats that reduce grind I like.

- Comment on Tattoo Ink Moves Through the Body, Killing Immune Cells and Weakening Vaccine Response 2 weeks ago:
The study found that tattooed mice produced significantly lower levels of antibodies after vaccination. This effect is likely due to the impaired function of immune cells that remain associated with tattoo ink for long periods. Similarly, human immune cells previously exposed to ink also showed a weakened response to vaccination

Lol. So full of yourself. No one is trying to bring “seniority” into this.
Saying you sound like a teenager who just discovered drugs is not the same as saying you are a teenager* (*so shut up - the adults are talking?)
- Comment on Psychedelic Truth 4 weeks ago:
No you really didn’t “try to hint at it”.
Honestly you sound like a teenager who just discovered drugs and really enjoys them so you went down the research rabbit hole.
And there’s nothing wrong with that in and of itself, but everything you said sounds like it’s coming from an arrogant/privileged place.

I mean the government stops you - at least in the USA. If they find you, no matter how ‘responsible’ you are being they will charge you/kick you off the land unless you “own” the land.

Same, although I think the 1st book would have been better if it didn’t focus so much on the humans for at least the first half of the book.
Like I think it would have had more impact if we were guessing what was happening off planet instead of ‘seeing’ it.

Yes it’s better in a group. Or at the very least just playing on a multiplayer server is better imo than single player. (At least until npcs are in)

That quote is being proven true right now though?
People don’t really remember what happened with the nazis. Most of the people who actually lived that past are dead now.
And the vast mojority of people lack enough empathy/understanding to be able to ‘walk a mile in their shoes’ as it were and extrapolate the horrors from the most readily available histories.

I’m glad they are officially dipping their toes into audio dramas after killing off all the fan dramas.
But why does it have to be another damn prequel.

Yeah I feel like not hearing people use “groovy” is more because things aren’t feeling very groovy lately.

- Comment on Episode Discussion | Star Trek: Strange New Worlds | 3x09 "Terrarium" 3 months ago:
I mean I try not to pick everything apart. It’s just some things are so ‘in your face’ to me my brain goes into an error loop.
Especially when you are looking at something thats only purpose is atmosphere vs something that affects the story.
In this case the floating rocks are merely set decoration whereas the orbit through the atmosphere is a pointless artifical timer to add unneeded drama to a situation that already has enough. (And also already has another artifical timer with the vaccine d plot that is only there to make Una the episode’s ‘bad guy’)
- Comment on Episode Discussion | Star Trek: Strange New Worlds | 3x09 "Terrarium" 3 months ago:
-
Yeah it could be, but still - it was unneccessary. Just having a close orbit would have given the same amount of extra (unneeded) drama.
-
That would just make it even worse that they were dicking around instead though?

- Comment on Episode Discussion | Star Trek: Strange New Worlds | 3x09 "Terrarium" 3 months ago:
Currently watching it. Just had to come here to bitch before I can finish it lol.
-
I know Star Trek has never really cared about the science behind it all, but come on - the moon that travels through the gas giant’s atmo having any atmosphere nevermind a breathable one is just stupid - just have it not pass through the the gas giant’s atmosphere for christs sake.
-
Stupid artificial constraints. Come the fuck on - if the vaccines are soo damn important, why wouldn’t you rendezvous first before dicking around. I know it’s happened plenty of times throughout Star Trek, but this one feels particularly egregious to me.

Its not the companies fault he couldnt be assed to :

- Update his email address.
When you put all your eggs in one basket, you’ve really got no one else to blame when you then decide to throw the basket away.

When idiots ride my ass I slow down.
Im driving the speed limit in the right hand lane and you ride my ass - I let off the gas to the minimum speed (here its usually 45mph)
Im actively passing in the left lane and you ride my ass I let off the gas.
When the idots back off I speed back up. If they start riding me again I slow back down. After a few times of this they usually pull their heads out of their asses and back off/ properly change lanes.

The problem with that is people would still do the same stupid shit behind the pace cars which would just cause the same issues.
The only way traffic pace cars would work is with better fundamental training (and enforcement of that training [meaning cops would actually have to regularly ticket people for tailgating]).
Especially here in the usa there are hardly any barriers to getting/keeping your license.
There is a massive amount of drivers who either shouldn’t be on the road at all or with heavy restrictions like not allowed to drive at night, not allowed on the highway, not allowed to drive certain classes of cars (kinda like other countries do for motorcycles because there is zero reason for any joe schmoe to just be able to legally get behind the wheel of something like a supercar on public roads)
- Comment on Make it make sense 3 months ago:
Sad thing is its more than just a few idiots.
The idiots are the majority. So stupidly self absorbed they constantly screw themselves over trying to “get theirs”.
- Comment on Taco Bell rethinks AI drive-through after man orders 18,000 waters 3 months ago:
Taco bell is one the the few fast food joints that still has decent cheap options.
They have a $7 luxe box ( if you use the app you can customize it.) That actually gives a worthwhile amount of food.
And as far as I can tell it’s an all the time deal, not some shitty limited time promotion like mcshit offers trying to get people to come bsck to their overpriced garbage. ($6+ just for fucking “large” french fries)
- Comment on best episodes for people who've never seen star trek? 3 months ago:
Yes, SNW gives itself time to breath. When I was rewatching the 1st couple of seasons in anticipation of 3 I honestly forgot how fast things actually happen because of those breather episodes.
(Having said that I do feel like this season has a few too many of those episodes.)
