Woah there, Mr Deep! I see the way you are eye-banging that cephalopod.

On the other hand, they didn’t have Fallout New Vegas and had to contend with the REAL Caesar’s legions, so I say we still win.
jagot@programming.dev 10 months ago
Julius Cæsar lived during the Iron Age.
RQG@lemmy.world 10 months ago
Both sound pretty metal.
Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world 10 months ago
Eh, close enough 🤷😉

Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world 10 months ago
Fun fact: Julius Caesar wasn’t the only Caesar by a long shot.
Additional fun fact: It was super late here when my brain farted that out 😄
BruceTwarzen@lemm.ee 10 months ago
But they also don’t have starfield
HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 10 months ago
yeah but how many ceremonial buttplugs did they have? not just day to day buttplugs, I’m talking formal occasion ones.
Zip2@feddit.uk 10 months ago
I have to ask, what ceremony is that for and does it have a parade?
iii@mander.xyz 10 months ago
Could they sync it to the bassline of katy perry’s roar?

PunnyName@lemmy.world 10 months ago
Also correct. Octopii, too
tamal3@lemmy.world 10 months ago
Words in English that end in “-us” and pluralize to “-i” are from Latin, such as cactus/cacti or focus/focus. However, “octopus” is from Greek, and it’s correct pluralization from Greek would be “octopodes.” In English, we have also adopted “octopuses,” which fits our standard pluralization rules.
So, “octopi” is actually a language mix up, though one that’s so common that it seems to be accepted in English.
Semjaza@lemmynsfw.com 10 months ago
Actually, octopi is the “erroneous” one. Although it is a very common mistake so might make the shift to recognised before too much longer.
Everyone still understands it, so it doesn’t matter.
DrDystopia@lemy.lol 10 months ago
Now I wonder how Octopie tastes like. It’s probably related to seafood pizza. 🫠
Taleya@aussie.zone 10 months ago
I have half a kilo of cinnamon.
prettybunnys@sh.itjust.works 10 months ago
I have ice, on demand, and hot water, flushing toilets, magic boxes that entertain me.
I’d fucking give it all for an octopus vase….
Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 10 months ago
I accidentally spilled about a tablespoon of peppercorns on the floor and could hear my ancestors screaming in horror as I swept them up and threw them away.
watersnipje@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 months ago
But what do you store it in? A vase with an octopus on it?
TriflingToad@sh.itjust.works 10 months ago
I have an electron rubiks cube
FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 10 months ago
You do want to keep octopuses in jars because they’re dicks who fuck up the ocean for the rest of us.
And don’t get me started on those fucking cuttlefish.
Kusimulkku@lemm.ee 10 months ago
I’ve had that, yes. Also dental care
Klear@lemmy.world 10 months ago
Do octopodes even have teeth?
MonkeMischief@lemmy.today 10 months ago
Some of then have a venomous beak. So. There’s that. :|
rickyrigatoni@lemm.ee 10 months ago
Oh. On them. Not in them.
SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org 10 months ago
There is our chance to surpass them!
Rutty@sh.itjust.works 10 months ago
