for some reason Donald Trump doesn’t go in the category of “people named Donald” in my head. like Tom Cruise, he’s not a Tom, for a Thomas, he’s always Tom Cruise.
when I hear somebody else’s first name is donald, it doesn’t make me think of him

Yeah, but it makes me think about Donald Duck
I think of a rarely seen side character from a rather obscure British sitcom
Not at this time, but if he were to create such damage that it impacts a generation and unanimously agreed as a villain then at that point the name Donald will be associated with him. Ex: the name Adolf is associated with Adolf Hitler.
What about Donald Fuck?
Donald as a baby name has been steadily dropping in popularity since at least 2000.
You need to search here (can't directly link the result):
My link was bad. This should be closer.
https://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/rankchange.html
It quickly reversed in 2022. More likely a statistical anomaly. Why not go up in 2016 to 2020?
Hey, whoa! C’mon now. We don’t know that’s yhe reason. Retro cartoons are on the rise. So much so that MeTV just launched a retro cartoons network called “MeToons”.
How do we know it’s not because of Donald Duck???
uh, oh! hugged to death!
This website is temporarily unavailable. So I can’t check their source. How do they claim to be representative across the whole of whatever region they’re polling?
It's not from polling. It's from the Social Security Administration. I gave a better link in a different fork of this comment thread.
Remember when Khaleesi was a popular name?
Which I never understood. Khaleesi was her title, not her name.
It´s equivalent-ish to naming a kid King or Czar or something.
Like Cesar, or Roy, or Regis, etc.
It's even worse, because my understanding is that "Khaleesi" doesn't actually mean "queen", but would more accurately mean "concubine/wife of the king/khal". I believe the queenship is only implied after the death of the khal.
Donald means something like “ruler of the world,” so not far off.
My niece named her daughter after Bella from Twilight. At least her full name is Isabella, but the inspiration is there.
Tell her to tell people she’s named after the Phineas and Ferb character. There’s zero down side.
A lot of us jumped on the fad of naming our daughters after Game of Thrones characters, especially the ones popular in the earlier seasons. And then D and D came along as show runners, and fucking wrecked everything for our baby girls. So Hodor, I regret getting sucked into that show and hope you’ll forgive me one day.
My son Ghsrrfgff really hates me 😢
I like the name actually and don’t think it’s bad at all. The shower thought OP posted just reminded me of it. This dothraki female liberator saving her people —-> dragon firing everyone lol
I don’t think Khaleesi or Donald are going to be names that are dunked on in the future, at least not that badly.
I don’t think people 20+ years from now will instantly jump to Trump when they hear Donald. Just like how if you meet George you don’t think of Bush.
Yeah, Adolf really doesn’t bring anyone notable to mind.
Trump may be a very poor candidate, but he didn’t kill 13 million people.
I would suspect that people can do basic math and realize why someone was named Donald if they’re born near today. It might not immediately jump to mind, but it also wouldn’t be subtle. I would bet no one else is naming their child Donald unless it’s a family name.
Reminds me of that other name that kind of just withered away. What was it?
Oh yeah…
Adolf.
I’m sure it’ll be making a comeback soon…
Heil Trump 🙋♂️, amirite?
It was a perfectly good name until that no-talent ass-clown ran for president.
Why should I change my name, he’s the one who sucks
Nice. Office Space reference.
They’ll make lovely couples with the girls named Khaleesi
Why though? Glover is cool.
He’s not too happy that his parents named him “Don Glover” (dong lover) though.
One man’s dong lover is another man’s Don G. Lover…
Depends on how far y’all’s Trump derangement syndrome goes. Don’t tell me you’re actually considering taking it out on kids named Donald
I wouldn’t say anyone would take it out on them. But I can imagine growing up and hating your own name. I sympathize because I hate my first and middle name equally.
I can understand Nuke, but what do you have against The?
Well, we found the Donald Hitler.
Why do you hate your first name?
Bullies absolutely will.
A lot.
All of them.
There were a lot of German boys called Adolf back then…
Last few years, but named Donald? They were horny for Trump. Last few decades? Still could be horny for Trump @_@!
If there is USB I wonder why there is no ChinaB

My cousin Donald now goes by his middle name.
His quote: “man, fuck that yankee piece of shit.”

Half of voting Americans think you’re a fascist, Chinese bot.
Or a woke commie queer groomer in drag.

Trump isn’t a proper representation of a New Yorker. I doubt he even likes baseball.

Yankee is a nickname for all Americans in the rest of the world.

I still don’t understand how a bunch of Southern, trailer park rednecks who hate new York city rich people, decided that a Manhattan millionaire was the guy to vote for. Why do they think he’s anything like them or has why idea how they live? He’s literally a northern, cartoonish carpet bagger.

I’m guessing either a brit, an aussie who hates rhyming slang, or a VERY unwilling to adapt southerner.

Huh?
