That’s not a circle
It's hard to believe

Something something map projections.
Wogi@lemmy.world 11 months ago
This is a common misconception, this circle is actually a straight line around the globe and the “inside” includes Antarctica and new Zealand. And because there’s a race of fully sentient crab people living under the kiwis and totaling 800 billion in number, the map is correct.
Weird that they vote though
lemmylemmy@feddit.ch 11 months ago
Thats because the world is flat
GrammatonCleric@lemmy.world 11 months ago
Ah yes, “Mercator Earth Theory” 😂
Mango@lemmy.world 11 months ago
Yeah, we don’t even have a name for whateverthefuck shape India is!
Poggervania@kbin.social 11 months ago
Fun fact: every 1 in 2 people make up 50% of the world population.
Siegfried@lemmy.world 11 months ago
Thats the worst circle i have ever seen
The_Picard_Maneuver@startrek.website 11 months ago
But you have seen it!
Everythingispenguins@lemmy.world 11 months ago
That is just an artifact of the map projection
dirtbiker509@lemm.ee 11 months ago
My thoughts too. Put that back on a globe and it’s pretty damn close to a circle! Considering it’s hand drawn…
thisisbutaname@discuss.tchncs.de 11 months ago
New Zealand get your shit together
Kiwi_Girl@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 months ago
Aye aye cap’n
kaffiene@lemmy.world 11 months ago
Yeah? Well at least in NZ we know how to draw a freaking circle. Didn’t want to be in your stinky club anyway
ikidd@lemmy.world 11 months ago

Are kiwis really people let’s be honest
Darkenfolk@dormi.zone 11 months ago
Well no, they are a fruit.
ivanafterall@kbin.social 11 months ago
Those "fruits" you've been eating were birds. :(
smeg@feddit.uk 11 months ago
I know the author is Terrible Maps so I probably shouldn’t complain, but what are those continent colour groupings?
beebarfbadger@lemmy.world 11 months ago
They’re not grouped, that’s what the planet actually looks like from space.
smeg@feddit.uk 11 months ago
Can’t believe I made such a foolish blunder in front of the head of NASA, my apologies doctor
dab@lemmy.world 11 months ago
I wonder how many people live outside the red circle and have to commute to work within it.
gareppa@programming.dev 11 months ago
…source?
Ddhuud@lemmy.world 11 months ago
That is true. As far as I know,Nobody lives on my phone screen.
xia@lemmy.ca 11 months ago
Then… wouldn’t it be false?
Ddhuud@lemmy.world 11 months ago
Yeah, I misread
UltraMagnus0001@lemmy.world 11 months ago
TIL
EveryMuffinIsNowEncrypted@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 months ago
I mean, considering this map excludes Antarctica, and there are people living (at least temporarily) in Antarctica, it is technically true.
The_Picard_Maneuver@startrek.website 11 months ago
Also New Zealand, but I’ve heard that the science is still out about whether or not they actually exist.
luthis@lemmy.nz 11 months ago
We don’t, it’s a psy-op.
AeonFelis@lemmy.world 11 months ago
Can “in” and “out” be meaningfully defined though, considering that circle is on a globe though?
xia@lemmy.ca 11 months ago
I get the feeling that if this were on a globe, it would appear as a long, thin, and nearly empty circle.
Tier1BuildABear@lemmy.world 11 months ago
More humans, anyway.
xia@lemmy.ca 11 months ago
Way to stand up for my alien homies, yo!
Rodeo@lemmy.ca 11 months ago
Crabs, deep sea squids, coral polyps, and sea sponges are all people now.
Tier1BuildABear@lemmy.world 11 months ago
I was thinking of life throughout the rest of the universe
MissJinx@lemmy.world 11 months ago
How do you know? Maybe there is a race of advanced intra terrestrial humans that live under water. Also this map is missing the great wall of ice that holds the water in place.
smuuthbrane@sh.itjust.works 11 months ago
How tall is the red wall? If it’s only at sea level than this is entirely false, most people’s would be above it.
rasensprenger@feddit.de 11 months ago
It just goes up all the way
smuuthbrane@sh.itjust.works 11 months ago
So satellites, the moon, the planets all crash into it? Nice try.
SCB@lemmy.world 11 months ago
Ah this meme makes me nostalgic for back before everyone else got on the internet.
Red circle map, you were joy back in the day
SinJab0n@mujico.org 11 months ago
I mean, if we can’t see the circle that means its a really big one, so…
Duh…
mozzribo@leminal.space 11 months ago
No.
mtchristo@lemm.ee 11 months ago
NZ: am I a joke to you?
ElBarto@sh.itjust.works 11 months ago
Hey, at least you made it on the map.
flambonkscious@sh.itjust.works 11 months ago
Aw come on, bro…
Be nice!
Amazinghorse@lemmy.world 11 months ago
I do believe there is a sub on that other site called Maps without New Zealand…
Pissnpink@feddit.uk 11 months ago
On the map only to be excluded from the circle
Caesium@lemmy.world 11 months ago
it still makes the statement correct
Pregnenolone@lemmy.world 11 months ago
Yes
