    They have no fuckign clue what to do. Nobody teaches you how to oppose a fascist dictatorship and there are zero leaders doing so. It’s an entire damn education and skills training regime that people are too desperately poor to afford to figure out individually.

      Have you seen how people online react when you float the idea of strikes (or really anything beyond parades masquerading as protests) as a method of resistance? The vast majority of Americans demonstrably don't care enough about fascism to do something about it. By the way the word isn't "oppose;" it's "overthrow."

      America demoralizes every friend and former ally and threatens WWIII.

      We are aside, watching America do nothing after decades of bragging about how free you were and how willing you were to stick up for it.

      There is no “rest of us” for us outsiders. America is doing this just like Russia invaded Ukraine and Israel is committing genocide, not some of their people.

  People need to get it through their head that there will BE NO MIDTERMS.

  Trump has done this much in only 9 months, and he still has another 9 to find a way to never have elections again. He’s already got his Reichstag moment with the Charlie Kirk killing. He’s already declared that democrats are going to be investigated and that “left wing violence” is the enemy. Why the fuck do people think he’s done all of that if not to pre-emptively get some bullshit excuse to “postpone” the midterms?

    There’s no benefit in ceding ground preemptively. I don’t suspect he’ll actually cancel the election so much as make it even less fair that usual to avoid the risk of losing, but either way, convincing everyone that this is what he will do, before he does it, just means that when it happens people won’t get as mad about it because it’ll be “old news” in their heads anyway.

    Small correction: He still has 14 months before the elections themselves, and another two and a half months before those elected take office, to figure it out. In other words, he's still got ~65% of his pre-Midterms term to destroy democracy.

    You traded it for tiktok and other shiny things. The last nine months has proven that modern humans as a whole will go out of our way to not do a damn thing about a LOT of bad shit as long as we still have access to our ipads, smartphones and streaming services.

    Americans (and yes…Westerners in general) are so addicted to their creature comforts that we’ll excuse almost anything in order to avoid the inconvenience of not having them if we stand up and actually revolt.

    It’s utterly disgusting.
