The gloomy sentiment around Reddit Inc. has failed to dissipate after its shares fell 50% from a February high, with volatile technology stocks under pressure.
Music to my ears.
Got banned over there a month ago, came here hoping to find something of a Sonic community in the same vein as the one over there (very involved in that fanbase, did a lot of my discussion on reddit), has not materialized yet, not enough fans over here, hopefully that changes at some point. I thought at first that it was the open support of Luigi’s alleged actions that got me banned, I could be ok with that, I get it, supporting violence and whatnot, I broke the rules, and they were sensible rules more or less, but the longer I look at the current happenings over there, the more suspicious I am that it was because his name came up at ALL, multiple times. That’s annoying. That feels less justified.
Also becoming more and more glad it happened when it did. Lot of overt, fascist appeasing censorship going on over there. Like it’s not even subtle. There’s no ambiguity in it, it’s just “this post criticized or disparaged Musk or Trump in some way. (Removed from Reddit).”
Any criticism of conservatism is grounds for removal now. I can’t believe it’s gotten this far.
Is there any Sonic community on Lemmy? Did you make one? I’m a casual fan, but I’d join.
!sonic@pawb.social is the biggest one I’ve found but it’s VERY inactive. You’d be better off going to a Sonic forum like the Sonic Stadium message boards, but those are a little less penetrable than something like reddit because EVERYONE there is a huge, dedicated fan, and it can get really strongly opinionated.
i love it that TROLLS and conservatives ever though right wingers were ever censored.
I haven’t used Reddit since the api change but I suspect stating that Luigi mangione is a hero who did nothing wrong would get me banned on Reddit. Social murder is completely cool and ok. But actually killing the man who oversees the system of social murder? How dare you!?
it got worst after that api apocalypse, which culiminated into musk/luigi , it became increasingly harder to
Oh no… anyway
Wait until they figure out that reddit provides very little of value. The users are the ones who post content and keep the site alive.
Reddit sold its user data for AI training that is the sole purpose of why spez allowed the site

good
I started to short them last month. Oh well. I knew all this anti free speech stuff is hurting them. They are only retaining the sycophants and the clueless niche people who never go out of their little bubble.
lol maybe because they’re really overtly censoring stuff and it’s getting so obvious even investors realize that it’s killing itself?
And this right here is why I laughed my ass off when they were doing their IPO and offered me an early buy-in. The company has never made a profit to my knowledge, why on earth would I imagine its value would go up?
There is no growth potential at all. They regularly bleed large numbers of users with their rando-bans, and the new user experience is so terrible that there is no reason any new person would ever want to use it.
Yup. What’s left of their user-base is cranky, well-entrenched against their bullshit, and not afraid to show it. See: the APIpocalypse, etc. I would bet they lost millions of users over that, and now they’re alienating tens or hundreds of thousands more. They have a pretty shit business model which largely relies on enshittification.
This time, they overdid it. Since Nov 5th there were at least 3 ban waves by Feb 13th. The same time I got banned, now we are in the 5th to 6th ban wave right now. This way more than normal
That idiot CEO is doing idiot CEO things.
Everyone knows that if he keeps bowing down to Musk’s pressure and enshitificating the platform, people will leave for greener pastures as soon as there’s an enticing alternative like they did with X.
CEOs surround themselves with the most conceited and naive of all echo chambers.
They live in an imaginary world in which their backward opinions work better than what has been proven to work time and time again by every research ever done on any subject.
They will one day wake up to a blue sky, claim it’s actually pink with green polka dots, and blame “the woke agenda” or some such nonsense when they are obviously proven wrong.
The closest analogy I’ve ever heard for what modern CEOs have become is “Like a bunch of Naked Emperors jerking each other off while shitting all over everyone below them”. As accurate as disgusting.
Let’s buy majority then fedirate it
fuck spez
Good.
have they resurrected that subreddit from 2016 era, name of which i will not repeat, but it was well fuck. i’m still not going to say it. it’s not an “information hazard”, it’s a garbage sphere that accretes garbage
there were ton of reddit that were purged in 17ish when trump came into power, and at the same the gop was complaining about said subreddits.
I have no idea what you’re talking about and I’m intrigued.
there was a sub called ‘the donald’, wanna say there was an underscore in there, that started as a joke but was co-opted
T_D?
Imagine investing in another company being led by Elon Musk these days.
Reddit is 💩
i wonder if reddit will eventually ragequit and restrict access to all content in there before trying to sell it off
They will paywall first or become like Facebook, require more and more about your personal identity, like face scans, IDs,etc
Good riddance
Looking for some bag holders
Remember that Reddit automatically gathers your data.
If you still have a reddit account, go to settings right now. And prevent reddit from selling your data.
its pretty given, seeing as how they are using googles recaptcha technology, and OPEN AI to allow access to data/content, plus its useful for troll farms from russia in general, since its allows targeted propaganda messaging.
good
I was offered a chance to buy into reddit’s IPO. I knew it was a bad idea and I’m glad i didn’t
Yeah, they messaged all my accounts asking if I wanted to buy in. I actually considered it for an instant, then thought nah, fuck that.
Microsoft has an AI store and all the apps are absolute crap. AI is a good Chatbot, but applying it to other things that can be monetized is clearly difficult.
I bought a single share when the ipo happened figuring it would be funny. Meant to sell when it was at 200 and forgot. Just checked. Still funny, sucks I missed out on $100 but I figure it’s going to keep going down. I’ll keep my one share. Reminds me to look.
It’ll fall won’t be as dramatic as Digg but it will decline over time. Probably not have a major exodus event like Musk buying Twitter and renaming it and sending people to try BlueSky and Mastodon
Turn out like Y/a! Before it was completely shuttled in '21
Musk strikes again
Good, Reddit has no place in the stock market and no amount of enshittification can save them from this fate.
Everything they touch dies

Lol I sold mine in January. I’m fucking Warren Buffet.

That’s an expensive habit, no wonder you sold your stock.

Dude charges a million bucks for an hour lunch with him. Imagine how much an overnight special with Warren is :>

I’m surprised he can still get it going at his age, but good for both of you

Now you have to explain why you bought it in the first place (j/k)
