At this point it’s best to accept how we’re going to be portrayed. There isn’t much we can do to absolve ourselves of their preconceptions. Best to make sure you’re prepared for the worst of it and hope it doesn’t come to that. I for one, refuse to be led by fear. The world’s not fair, and if it’s not fair to you, use that injustice as a motivator.

It may not be an Amanita and could be a Hygrocybe. I didn’t dig down to see if there was a universal veil. It does look a lot like Amanita jacksonii.

Neat how killing your own bolsters your support. I don’t see how this can go wrong at all.

That’s been my problem the last few times out. I only find blue wood and never the fruits.

You also have to harvest them early enough in their lifecycle. If you get to them too late they don’t taste great.

I’d say the first photo is about 1’ across and maybe 8" or so for the second.

I took all of these with an old Olympus E-M1 mk1 with the 12-50mm f/3.5-6.3 lens on macro mode which is 43mm. I took them at f11. The close ups on the wasp nest slime mold was taken with the same lens but with 26mm of extension tubes added. Some of the DOF was gained back with post processing.

Yup, it is commonly known as wasp nest slime mold. Definitely the coolest looking slime mold I’ve seen.

The caps were kind of a puke green/yellow and the stems were more vibrant green.

If I had to guess, I think it’s a Mouse-pee Pinkgill Entoloma incanum, but I’m not too sure. I do believe they are toxic.

- Comment on I think these are something in the Gomphus genus? 1 week ago:
It probably is Gomphus clavatus. I’m just not confident enough to say for sure. Definitely an interesting looking mushroom and not one I stumble upon too often.
