- Comment on Valve Sued By The Performing Rights Society Over Music Rights in Games Valve Doesn’t Make or Own 1 week ago:
If it isn’t publicly traded, they can’t take over it, enshitify it, and squeeze it until it’s useless. So of course they hate it.
- Comment on Valve Sued By The Performing Rights Society Over Music Rights in Games Valve Doesn’t Make or Own 1 week ago:
If they sued games like Beat Hazard for letting players use their own music in the game, that’d be like suing a media player for letting people play music with it.
So imagine how much dumber this is.
- Comment on nothing really matters 2 weeks ago:
Nothing really matters
Love is all we need
Everything I give you
All comes back to meSo close, no matter how far
Couldn’t be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
No, nothing else matters - Comment on An old excuse 2 weeks ago:
If an advanced civilization in the future figures out a way to scan the minds of all sentient beings and put them in an afterlife simulation, then it’ll probably work like The Good Place after they fixed the issues with the system, and this guy would absolutely still be stuck in the purgatories, not yet a better person.
- Comment on "Being vegan is unnatural" 3 weeks ago:
If vegans really cared about these things more than keeping the moral high ground, they’d be focusing on practical solutions like making lab-grown meat and plant-based substitutes so tasty and affordable that corporations are the ones that start pushing for them, so they can’t stop spending on costly cattle.

Prodigy was a series for kids that adults could watch. I like to think this is a series for teens and young adults that adults can watch.
- Comment on Star Trek: Starfleet Academy actor Kareem Diané decides to do their AMA on Lemmy! 4 weeks ago:
Lemmy is arguably more Star Trek than Reddit. It only makes sense.
Wait. Is there an LCARS lemmy frontend? We could really use that.

The more someone says nothing is changing and everything is going to be ok, the more I think something nasty is going on.
- Comment on Microsoft finally admits almost all major Windows 11 core features are broken 3 months ago:
This is why I have always waited for the version that is just like the previous ones, but fixed. 3.11, 98SE, XP SP2, 7, 10…
I need to get a new computer, and it has to have windows, but I’m not getting freaking Win11. Gimme Win12.
- Comment on Breaking: Google is easing up on Android's new sideloading restrictions! 4 months ago:
No freaking way this was because of “feedback”. This was because the European Commission will keep escalating their fines if Google keeps at it with the monopoly bullshit.

I want to know who is behind these changes being proposed. This smells of corruption.

Isn’t there a version of win11 like Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC?
Gotta get that. All stripped, just the OS and security.
- Comment on When you say you don't like linux on Lemmy 5 months ago:
What do I look like, a guy who’s not lazy?
- Comment on When you say you don't like linux on Lemmy 5 months ago:
I don’t dislike linux, I dislike all the work people mention to me when I say I don’t use it because I’m as lazy as futurama’s lazy moon man. The response to that is usually a long list of taks they claim to be a very easy way to install Linux. I don’t care how hard or easy it is. I only do one thing. If I have to do teo things, that’s too many things to do.
Call me when someone makes a distro that is as lazy as an android phone: press a button, all gets done on its own.

There are only 3 developers I will preorder from whenever I find the game they are releasing interesting. Erin “Concerned Ape” (Stardew Valley); Bob the Bot (Survivalist); and Terry Cavanagh, the creator of VVVVVV.
They keep their games updated, they are pretty chill people, and they keep players informed during development.
For now, they are the only ones who have earned my trust. For everything else, it’s full patientgamer mode for me. Wait until the whole game is released with a single price tag, 90% discount, no online requirements outside of multiplayer, and community fixes.
- Comment on We don't use the word 'fascist' because we wish harm on anybody. We use it because words mean things. 5 months ago:
I was thinking that another exception would be those who open their eyes and leave it behind, but then they are no longer fascists. So you could say their old fascist self is essentially dead too.
So while I do prefer this method as some ex-fascists may turn into anti-fascist advocates, and we can always use more help against fascism, it still doesn’t really counter the adage.

I think 12 may be too high. Most kids I’ve knew who acted like that were like 6.
- Comment on Xbox: "Price Increases Are Never Fun For Anybody" 5 months ago:
Infinite growth is impossible, so they switched to squeezing something until it breaks, then identifying the next thing to squeeze. Eventually, they run out of things to squeeze, and switch to squeezing the people directly.

Corporations can’t stand it a logarithmic graph. They need freaking geometric progressions, and then they do stuff that gets them an anti-logarithmic graph.
- Comment on Everybody is fine with celebrities like Whoopi Goldberg making up fake names for themselves, but when someone chooses a name for themselves to suit their gender identity it's suddenly a problem 5 months ago:
And it’s not something new or anything like that. There are lots of cultures through history in which people choose their own names or alternate names throughout their life for a variety of reasons.
- Comment on I'm gonna die on this hill or die trying 5 months ago:
I got started using — because the golems in Guild Wars 2 speak in all caps and with em dashes between the words.
I had to copy-paste after doing Alt+0151 somewhere else when doing the joke when using a golem transformation tonic and SPEAKING—LIKE—THIS since Guild Wars 2 does not respond to numpad input, but Mac users have it easy, they can just press Option+Shift+dash. On Windows, you would need a tool like PowerToys’ keyboard manager or a keyboard macro for that.

They need to make mining drones mandatory, too. Humans have no business being in holes. They are not their holes, they do not belong in them.
