not pictured, but uniball eye micro was my goat for high school and college. I had to do british standardized exams in high school which required black pen (not pencil). these guys write super smoothly and create really nice lines, but they take a sec or two to dry so you gotta be careful not to smudge. 3's grip looks the most comfy

Why does half the ink leak into the grip though
Coldcell@sh.itjust.works 1 year ago
I assumed 1 was this one! Still the goat, still have 3 on my person at any given time.

Pilot g2 if I had to choose but I’ll stick with my rotring 600 with schmidt easyflow 9000 if it were up to me

1 looks the most balanced to pen spin with the least egregious lapel.

None. Pens fucking suck. There are limited use cases for pens, which is basically none unless I am signing a contract.
For every single other use case I’d rather have a mechanical pencil.
Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Pencils are for those who lack conviction!
TemplaerDude@lemm.ee 1 year ago
I respectfully disagree, pencils are the devil’s implement, pens are for the superior writer.
Grass@sh.itjust.works 1 year ago
pens can’t even write more than a couple letters on a wall and even less on an overhead surface. imagine my absolute disappointment when I built a custom over bed upside down desk only for my pen collection to be unusable
pineapplelover@lemm.ee 1 year ago
Since having to write so many notes in school, I’ve preferred pens.

Your assessment is nonsense but ok

Honestly those of us who’ve bought 1 or 2 already main those. I’ll never by another pen, the writing quality of the Uniball is just superb. The plastic grip isn’t uncomfortable like you’d think, and rubber grips tend to feel weird after lots of writing anyways. The build quality is top notch, as someone who’s accidentally broken lots of pens. Just a great design
Jesus_666@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Seconded. As far as pens are concerned, Uniball is where it’s at.

I already mainly write with #1s
otacon239@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Okay. I’ve used all of these and 3 definitely writes the best and is the most comfortable, BUT, I’ve had more of these fail or explode halfway through a cartridge multiple times.
So I have to pick my good old 5 will carry me through battle and back and I’ll lose it long before it stops writing. Never had a bad time with a 5.
terminhell@lemmy.world 1 year ago
1 & 2 top picks, then 6 & 7. The rubber sleeves are nice for short notes and whatnot. They get slippery from sweating eventually. Maybe just a me thing.
theshoeshiner@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Damn, pen so out of shape that he’s sweating.
MagnyusG@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Pentel ENERgel pens.
But if I had to choose, 2 or 5. I have 3 at work and while it is nice, I don’t know if it has the same kind of staying power 2 or 5 do.
Samskara@sh.itjust.works 1 year ago
7 BIC or bust
TheBrideWoreCrimson@sopuli.xyz 1 year ago
7 is the the type of pen that lasts me the longest. They seem indestructible. All other types disintegrate in my hands after a year or so.
Valmond@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Where is the fountain pen??
accideath@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Can I just have a Parker IM Ballpoint? I hate plastic pens.

I once bought a pack of maybe 40 number 7 in all 4 colors, I am basically committed for life.
But these fuckers dry out if you don’t use them for a long time, I had to throw away a bunch. I tried receiving some by soaking them in Isopropyl alcohol, it worked for some but not all.
21Cabbage@lemmynsfw.com 1 year ago
Being that my usual choices aren’t on there no real preference TBH, except I prefer click to cap. Given the choice overall decidedly the Zebra F-301 with a bold ink cartridge.
tophneal@sh.itjust.works 1 year ago
jokes on you, #2 have already been besties for 10+y
thermal_shock@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Retractable version is superior
tophneal@sh.itjust.works 1 year ago
You’re not wrong, but I don’t see it pictured
InvertedParallax@lemm.ee 1 year ago
2 or 5.
5 because it’s convenient and a Swiss army knife of pens.
2 because sometimes you just gotta shank a bitch.
lime@feddit.nu 1 year ago
this is left handed discrimination
Dozzi92@lemmy.world 1 year ago
As it should be!
SchwertImStein@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 year ago
which one?
21Cabbage@lemmynsfw.com 1 year ago
Out of fascination how is a left handed pen different? I just grabbed mine and it looks pretty symmetrical. I get the whole ink on hands thing but the meme didn’t say you couldn’t use a pencil or type anymore.
lime@feddit.nu 1 year ago
when you write left-handed you push the nib into the paper rather than dragging it. left-handed pens have angled tips so the nib still drags.

Number 6, I like how the ink flows
frog_brawler@lemmy.world 1 year ago
You’re deplorable for this choice. 6 is the worst!
stoy@lemmy.zip 1 year ago
Eh, it means that I won’t steal your pen, calm down
InFerNo@lemmy.ml 1 year ago
I use a Lamy Studio to write, so close to a 6.
Also in my arsenal is a Parker Jotter and a Moonman C1.

- Fisher space pen
I keep one at my desk and have one in my pocket (most of the time).

I’ve had the bullet version on me at all times for the last decade or so. Fits in my coin pocket of my jeans perfectly.
