As a regular Costco shopper, no a pack like that wouldn’t be anywhere near that much, and no that many won’t last nearly as long as you think. Perhaps this isn’t USD though.
- Comment on Special sampling opportunity 4 days ago:
I don’t think Costco ever jacked up the prices like that, it was just unavailable for a long time.
- Comment on Milky Way may not be destroyed in galactic smash-up after all 6 days ago:
True but the aesthetics of the galaxies would be totally wrecked.
- Comment on [deleted] 6 days ago:
Yep exactly. Luckily I’m not longer working at one, so I can uninstall it.
- Comment on Whatever happened to cheap eReaders? – Terence Eden’s Blog 6 days ago:
It’s definitely iterative but the newer eInk screens are higher res and color. Dunno how refresh rates compare on the color screens.
- Comment on Whatever happened to cheap eReaders? – Terence Eden’s Blog 6 days ago:
They were subsidizing them to establish an ebook marketplace. They’re no longer doing so.
I still have my Kindle Keyboard. It still works but the front lighting on new ereaders is a big upgrade. The software was pretty primitive back then too.

I’ve worked places where they required specific TOTP apps. That’s the only reason I had MS Authenticator on my phone
- Comment on Meta and Palmer Luckey's Anduril Industries partner to build EagleEye, a new AI-powered weapons system, including rugged helmets, glasses, and other wearables 1 week ago:
For anyone thinking of investing into Luckey’s company, I invite you to consider the fact that this man has access to the most expensive stylists in the world, and yet he chose to do that to his face and hair. Is this a man whose judgement you trust?
- Comment on Now that the Chrisleys are pardoned. Does that mean they still have to pay back the fraudulant money they stole? Or is that written off to? 1 week ago:
Well, being pardoned wouldn’t shield them from civil liability. So assuming they still have money (trials are generally pretty expensive)there could be a lot of lawsuits incoming.
- Comment on Are standing seats on airliners actually going to be a thing? 2 weeks ago:
I just dont think you have as many short haul flights in the US where this sort of thing would not be as big of a deal.
- Comment on Are standing seats on airliners actually going to be a thing? 2 weeks ago:
In Europe on airlines like Ryanair, definitely. I don’t know if I see them taking off in the US.
- Comment on Sleep well 2 weeks ago:
Yeah, that is why I left a little wiggle room in my statements. But coordinated movements when the cranial cavity is so damaged that chunks of brain are spilling out? A deer’s brain isn’t even very large. There’s hardly chunks to be had there. I dunno there’s some chance that the deer was already dead and this is just some sort of postmortem spasms. But I am just doubtful over the whole thing as written.
- Comment on Sleep well 2 weeks ago:
Yeah that’s really the part that makes me think it’s exaggerated, misremembered, or just completely false.
- Comment on Sleep well 2 weeks ago:
It’s possible that this is chronic wasting disease or something, but I’m more inclined to think it’s bullshit.

To be fair to him, he used a lot of color motifs on Breaking Bad.

Is this Vince Gilligan’s fault?
- Comment on Oof 3 weeks ago:
Definitely didn’t do that in the hopes that it would mildly annoy someone else as much as OP mildly annoyed me.

- Comment on how to get unbanned from communities? 4 weeks ago:
Just throwing this out there…you can just hop over to another instance and viola! No bans.
(This seems like a flaw in the fediverse model, given how easy it is to instance hop.)

Well also at one point www.domain.com may have actually been a single physical server. That hasn’t been true for sites of any size in a long time.
- Comment on Whenever a beast is shown on screen 5 weeks ago:
There are lots of different success strategies in nature and perhaps in the era of megafauna the direct approach would’ve been more viable. I’m not sure that we know. The depiction of the T-Rex in Jurassic Park is pretty out of date in general, but it’s also from over 30 years ago.
- Comment on sus 5 weeks ago:
LOL. I know that’s how it works because I’ve done it several times.
- Comment on sus 5 weeks ago:
Er? You absolutely can do an STI screen without symptoms. Some of the most common STIs don’t even usually have symptoms.
- Comment on Game preservationists say Switch 2 Game-Key Cards are ‘disheartening’ but inevitable 5 weeks ago:
I’m willing to bet that 95% of their customers do not have an issue with this. Probably the majority don’t even realize that someone could have an issue with this. People are already very used to having to do big downloads with games and a lot of switch 1 games were already requiring half of the game to be downloaded due to large cart costs. Also tbh I don’t think it’s really a preservation issue as long as piracy exists.
- Comment on The crossbow 😭 5 weeks ago:
I think it might be a griffon…drawn by someone who’s never actually seen a lion.

I think the “why” behind a lot of these is “being a monk is really boring”.
