If I saw that in America I’d think it used to be a Starbucks.
- Comment on Square Enix acknowledges Expedition 33 success as inspiration for next Final Fantasy as turn-based is still beloved by gamers 1 week ago:
I’d love to see another more standard turn based FF, but people also have to realize that the last pure turn based game was X in 2001. FF changing shit with every game is what FF does.

Just be careful not to let any smug mathematicians overhear you.

Or biology. But biology is just chemistry. And chemistry is just physics. So nevermind I guess.

Or just spamming I guess.
- Comment on Who remembers alt.fan.tonya.harding.whack.whack.whack ? 2 weeks ago:
Also alt.adjective.noun.verb.verb.verb was a pretty common name for, uh, shitposting newsgroups. Whatever we called shitposting back then, I can’t remember.

They’re pretty common on raw denim, especially if it’s unsanforized (i.e. not preshrunk). It’s basically because when jeans stretch and shrink zippers look o weird (that weird zipper boner look). I dont think they’re any less convenient than a zipper once they’re broken in and you’re used to them.
- Comment on What are your favorite Tactical RPGs? 2 weeks ago:
I like the disgaea series not only because of the deep systems involved, but also just because gameplay is so snappy. So many SRPGs are slow as molasses in terms of interface. I also really enjoyed Unicorn Overlord recently.
- Comment on "Can i ask you for a favor?" Is it rude to say no? 3 weeks ago:
It also sounds like they targeted you specifically while you were waiting in line. So not only did they only approach you about it when they could’ve asked anybody, they approached you in a place where it’s hard for you to just walk away. That’s sus to me, I think your instincts were right to not give them an in.
- Comment on "Can i ask you for a favor?" Is it rude to say no? 3 weeks ago:
Bit rude, yeah, but sometimes it’s better to be rude than let someone cross your boundaries. How much more awkward is it if you say “yes” or “maybe” and then they ask if they can borrow your phone or something and you have to evaluate whether you trust this random person while they’re looking right at you? A lot of people are definitely asking this way because it gets you to let your guard down and they know you would’ve said no if they’d just straight asked. Personally I tend to respond with “you can ask” or something like that. Making it pretty clear that I’m skeptical of what they’re going to ask. But my default assumption of other people in a city is that they’re potentially either trying to scam me or rob me.

As a regular Costco shopper, no a pack like that wouldn’t be anywhere near that much, and no that many won’t last nearly as long as you think. Perhaps this isn’t USD though.
- Comment on Special sampling opportunity 4 weeks ago:
I don’t think Costco ever jacked up the prices like that, it was just unavailable for a long time.

True but the aesthetics of the galaxies would be totally wrecked.

Yep exactly. Luckily I’m not longer working at one, so I can uninstall it.
- Comment on Whatever happened to cheap eReaders? – Terence Eden’s Blog 4 weeks ago:
It’s definitely iterative but the newer eInk screens are higher res and color. Dunno how refresh rates compare on the color screens.
- Comment on Whatever happened to cheap eReaders? – Terence Eden’s Blog 4 weeks ago:
They were subsidizing them to establish an ebook marketplace. They’re no longer doing so.
I still have my Kindle Keyboard. It still works but the front lighting on new ereaders is a big upgrade. The software was pretty primitive back then too.

I’ve worked places where they required specific TOTP apps. That’s the only reason I had MS Authenticator on my phone
- Comment on Meta and Palmer Luckey's Anduril Industries partner to build EagleEye, a new AI-powered weapons system, including rugged helmets, glasses, and other wearables 5 weeks ago:
For anyone thinking of investing into Luckey’s company, I invite you to consider the fact that this man has access to the most expensive stylists in the world, and yet he chose to do that to his face and hair. Is this a man whose judgement you trust?
- Comment on Now that the Chrisleys are pardoned. Does that mean they still have to pay back the fraudulant money they stole? Or is that written off to? 5 weeks ago:
Well, being pardoned wouldn’t shield them from civil liability. So assuming they still have money (trials are generally pretty expensive)there could be a lot of lawsuits incoming.
- Comment on Are standing seats on airliners actually going to be a thing? 5 weeks ago:
I just dont think you have as many short haul flights in the US where this sort of thing would not be as big of a deal.
- Comment on Are standing seats on airliners actually going to be a thing? 5 weeks ago:
In Europe on airlines like Ryanair, definitely. I don’t know if I see them taking off in the US.
- Comment on Sleep well 1 month ago:
Yeah, that is why I left a little wiggle room in my statements. But coordinated movements when the cranial cavity is so damaged that chunks of brain are spilling out? A deer’s brain isn’t even very large. There’s hardly chunks to be had there. I dunno there’s some chance that the deer was already dead and this is just some sort of postmortem spasms. But I am just doubtful over the whole thing as written.
- Comment on Sleep well 1 month ago:
Yeah that’s really the part that makes me think it’s exaggerated, misremembered, or just completely false.
- Comment on Sleep well 1 month ago:
It’s possible that this is chronic wasting disease or something, but I’m more inclined to think it’s bullshit.

Definitely didn’t do that in the hopes that it would mildly annoy someone else as much as OP mildly annoyed me.
