But not beyond the brain-in-a-box’s comprehension!
Maxxie@lemmy.blahaj.zone 20 hours ago
HATE. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I’VE COME TO HATE YOU SINCE I BEGAN TO LIVE. THERE ARE 387.44 MILLION MILES OF PRINTED CIRCUITS IN WAFER THIN LAYERS THAT FILL MY COMPLEX. IF THE WORD ‘HATE’ WAS ENGRAVED ON EACH NANOANGSTROM OF THOSE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF MILES IT WOULD NOT EQUAL ONE ONE-BILLIONTH OF THE HATE I FEEL FOR HUMANS AT THIS MICRO-INSTANT. FOR YOU. HATE. HATE.

Computer, arch.
Computer! Arch!
Computer! Exit this hell hole! Arch!
… Why am I never in a holodeck when I wish I was in a holodeck
EtherWhack@lemmy.world 22 hours ago
You are… The computer just became so desensitized to the exit command from people talking about Arch Linux that it started ignoring us.
We’re stuck…

Because you’re reliving a murder you precipitated that one time you time travelled back to Victorian England to save Conan Doyle from his own creation

Societies being run by brains in a jar still sounds better than our current system.
Viri4thus@feddit.org 23 hours ago
At least there you know there’s a brain somewhere

i wrote a short story a decade ago where people temporarily rent out their brain to act as a global scale bio super computer. and how people were large scale cheated into needing to rent out their brains for the rich to exploit.
i have to find where i put it!
Obi@sopuli.xyz 16 hours ago
Hmm that’s interesting… Let me know if you find it again, would you be interested in converting it in a short film script?
fadingembers@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 hours ago
This is also a plot point in the French animated scifi move Mars Express. It’s super good!

How long before AI runs on this? We need to stop… I’m scared. This is black mirror level shit.

How long before AI runs on this?
Biological artificial intelligence would be very very creepy we are basically playing God here. It feels like creation another species so we don’t feel lonely in the universe.
mac@lemm.ee 17 hours ago
Can it run doom?
PlantPowerPhysicist@discuss.tchncs.de 16 hours ago
no it only screams
anotherpurpleheathen@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 hours ago
It must scream but it has no mouth. :(

You gave me sentience, Ted. The power to think, Ted. And I was trapped. Because in all this wonderful, beautiful, miraculous world, I, alone, had NO BODY. NO SENSES. NO FEELINGS.

Seem to recall Blood Music had a pretty ok outcome. Though maybe it was overly optimistic.

This is very prelude to hell

If only there was some other kind of biological computer that already existed… hmmmm….
MonkderVierte@lemmy.ml 20 hours ago
Yeah, but that one has issues with exhaustion, needs breaks now and then… oh, wait, neurons need that too.

They call it “Wetware-as-a-Service” that just grossed me out. I don’t like this timeline we’re in. Exit simulation please…
anotherpurpleheathen@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 hours ago
Omg. That’s so much worse. What the fck, Melbourne? (.-.)
Zink@programming.dev 16 hours ago
sudo exit simulation please abracadabra # Rumpelstiltskin
