And yet they’ve been wildly shrewd about it even in todays world of hype

I meant AI in general in respect to IBM
- Comment on Dell admits consumers don’t care about AI PCs 1 week ago:
Whoever is making the decisions at Dell just made a very wise one. I’d expect IBM to be the most pragmatic but maybe I missed the news about them

- Comment on The AI Backlash Is Here: Why Backlash Against Gemini, Sora, ChatGPT Is Spreading in 2025 - Newsweek 4 weeks ago:
Literally the only thing I ever used AI for that was actually enjoyable and “efficient” was to make bullshit images to send in group chats, I’ve since stopped because it’s so wasteful, but I did get some laughs there. But like if I weren’t shit at animating or drawing or whatever I wouldn’t ever use that over making something myself unless it was for some dumb bullshit.
AI is just a dumb bullshit producer

Just going through this thread and blocking anyone defending OpenAI or AI in general, your opinions are trash and your breath smells like boot leather
- Comment on Microsoft AI CEO Puzzled by People Being "Unimpressed" by AI 1 month ago:
Managers being completely out of touch and also realizing how useless they are is an ancient tale, no offense to your kin but even before AI you could generally assume stupidity when meeting an MBA, at minimum you can assume lack of curiosity or anything interesting to say.

This is how I’ve always felt, it’s a good game by any measure, but it’s not the world changing breakthrough they try to hail it as
- Comment on Are you ready for a $1,000 Steam Machine? Some analysts think you should be. 2 months ago:
Half the posts I see on lemmy about this are incredibly out of touch with mainstream gamers and consumers and I’m getting second hand embarrassment from it.
Most people do not want to tinker with their shit at all, and the proportion of people that care about display port vs hdmi is probably about the same they want exactly what you said, ease of a console with the nimble power of a PC. This is exactly that
- Comment on Gamepad for Linux Gaming? 2 months ago:
Kinda surprised by all the trouble folks have had with Xbox controllers, my experience has been smooth as on any console
- Comment on Steam Hardware [new Steam Controller, Steam Machine, and VR headset Steam Frame, coming in 2026] 2 months ago:
Folks that would/could do that are not the folks this seems geared towards IMO, and I think it may whoosh a lot of us on Lemmy because in general we like to tinker and figure tech out, that’s obviously not ubiquitous, but the vast majority of people(read consumers) do not want that at all. I also suspect the Steam Machine will be priced right around $500 to compete with the PS5, depending on their sales expectations they could legit make this a loss leader.
More likely geared towards the average PC gamer that just wants to play games and doesn’t give a fuck about OSS or Linux in addition to lifelong console gamers that prefer controllers on couch gaming but are interested in all the other perks/freedoms that PCs offer. I was in the latter group about a year ago when I bought my deck.

Where is that true, before Covid I could get out of waho for under 13 no problem with a drink? Crackers Barrerl was always at least 20
- Comment on Cracker Barrel Outrage Was Almost Certainly Driven by Bots, Researchers Say 3 months ago:
I thought it was a stupid and pointless business move or potentially a publicity stunt. And I’ll admit I’d be slightly bummed to walk into Crackers Barrel sit down and not see the peg game or all the weird old country store bullshit because nostalgias a bitch. But like it’s not even good southern cooking, the only things good there were fried chicken livers and breakfast food. The former can be found in any southern town with much higher quality and Waffle House exists and is generally really close to most Cracker Barrel’s for the latter.

I ain’t telling anyone what to do but my millennial ass has given up any hope of retirement. I’ll either die fighting against the hellscape world being created, take myself out if somehow I survive that, or in the miraculous event we as a species succeed in wresting control of this planet away from the sociopathic rich and set up an egalitarian society I hopefully wouldn’t need to
