I’ve always thought that Unix (and therefore Linux) was much more internally consistent and accessible than Windows ever was.
Everything is in places that kind of make sense, there’s heaps of documentation that comes with the system, you can set it up how you like it, you can see everything… There are actual logs that aren’t hex gobbledygook…

I’m about to build a home server with a lot of storage (relatively, around 6 or 8 times 12 TB as a ballpark), and I didn’t even consider anything other than spinning drives so far.

It’s not a real hard disk unless you can get it to walk across the server room anyway.

That’s a WORM medium though, so really purely for storage. Which is still extremely useful of course.
