- Comment on Microsoft just paused Windows 11 24H2 update for many PCs due to crashes and freezes 2 weeks ago:
Well, I said it was stable for a Microsoft system.
I understand that it’s strange to people used to windows, but we had computers that just didn’t crash. Ever. Then everything moved to PC with windows and it all went to shit. Now it’s mostly back to unix which while not crashproof is at least reasonably resilient and a proper system.

How many deer are on that road? It’s mowing down dozens of them in that video!
- Comment on Microsoft just paused Windows 11 24H2 update for many PCs due to crashes and freezes 2 weeks ago:
It seems to me that Windows, which used to be reasonably stable, as Microsoft systems go, has gone into beta status with Windows 11 and is now slipping into a kind of perpetual alpha.
Disclaimer, I haven’t used Windows seriously for decades (now and then for the odd game or for VR) and only boot it every other month to see what it looks like.

Yes, but why?
- Comment on Microsoft CEO earns $30.6 million more despite laying off over 2,000 employees in 2024 — salary package represents a 63% raise from the previous year 3 weeks ago:
I don’t think the board pays CEOs according to how many jobs they save. I don’t know where you got that idea.
In fact I’m pretty sure that the more people they get rid of, the better paid they are.

Oh, ok, I thought it was the various ingredients. I zoomed in and finally figured out it was merely various shots of the same thing.

That’s because you don’t have enough zigbee devices. They have to be everywhere so that they can mesh. Have you considered a zigbee carpet? It’s great to link rooms together and it can share data with the zigbee vacuum cleaner.

That was decades ago, though.
- Comment on Delivery Photo 1 month ago:
In most cases, there’s no point contacting the transporter. They have no contract with you, so your opinion on their performance is fairly irrelevant. The one they have a deal with is the seller. So that’s who you have to get information back to.
- Comment on PC gaming fan Steven Spielberg says he "can't do controllers," prefers keyboard and mouse 1 month ago:
I had the same problem, having never used a console. I’ve always been using PCs (starting with small 8 bit machines, to a 286, and later to the beasts we currently use (running Linux though). It took me a good while to get used to the Steam deck.
I had no choice because I have no other gaming rig at the moment while my home is being completely rebuilt, so my PC has been turned off for two years now :(.
I’ve gotten better at it, and I’m getting through Fallout on the deck, but I have to avoid some games. For while some games do indeed work better with a controller, others (FPS) are way better with keyboard and mouse.
So all in all, I’m glad that the Deck has opened new possibilities. But the game controller isn’t the ultimate gadget, just another option.

- Comment on Some basic info about USB 2 months ago:
Those will legally do pretty much anything depending on what cable you use anyway. (and what cable you end up using is pretty much a surprise until you’ve tested it.)
All thanks to USB making our lives more simple. (yay)
Ok, I suppose it is more simple in quite a few ways.
