Same is true for Handel, he wouldn’t look out of place down the pub watching football. That powdered wig does a lot of heavy lifting making him look contemporary to his era and class.
Modern day monarch.

Why would we trust AI over someone who was painting the person right in front of them?
Canadian_anarchist@lemmy.ca 2 months ago Portraits were definitely “improved” by artists to make the person look thinner, paler, etc. The happier the customer, the more likely they would get work within their elite inner circle (portraits were a luxury, not common for most of history).
They were done by skilled people with training though. Early paints were not easy to use as they were not nicely mixed in metal tubes. They had to be manually mixed pigments and binders (many containing lead and mercury).

It’s a joke. It is not actually an AI picture, but a photo of some random guy who slightly resembles him.

Henry the 8th was hot as hell as a young, fit adult. There are libraries of vague, contemporaneous homoeroticism preserved to verify it. The pic on the right significantly decreases his attractiveness in a way that feels almost antagonistic.

Wasn’t being chubby seen as an attractive trait back then because it implied wealth?
Telodzrum@lemmy.world 2 months ago
No, this is some apocryphal nonsense that became a “fun fact” spread by everyone.
ClockworkOtter@lemmy.world 2 months ago
I don’t think his most attractive period was considered to be once he became obese
Skullgrid@lemmy.world 2 months ago Ok, the picture is of him from when he’s older

Tbf, if I lived around someone as psychotic as Henry VII, I’d flatter him too.

Apparently, Henry loved to joust.
He probably took a lot of concussions.
Might explain a lot.

Into having larger, more expressive features? It’s fairly uncommon for tiny mouthed Clint Eastwood to shift into tiny mouthed Gabriel Iglesias

“Help help let me out it’s dark and I can’t breathe in here, help help help!”
