Please let’s see the current leader do this when he realizes the child rape walls are closing in on him and there’s no more escape
That's why I say hey man, nice shot

He would need to feel shame of any kind
HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
yeah, there are events that cause you to lose your sense of shame. I am confident krasnov has been through at least one of them, given the behavior he has displayed and the level of wealth he was born into.

It’s not what he said but how he said it

You know, in certain older civilized cultures, when men failed as entirely as you have, they would throw themselves on their swords. – The Operative
We should bring that back.

In hindsight, he probably did it not out of any shame, but because he wanted to go out in a way that might make people view him as a tragic, misunderstood figure. If Epstein did kill himself, it was probably for the same reason. Narcissists, both of them.

I had read that his wife had some condition that needed health care, and if he were convicted and removed from office, she would lose that coverage. However, because he killed himself before that, she remained covered under the government plan being his widow.

Once again a problem solvable by a functional government

Same thing corrupt cops do when they’re caught, they off themselves and make it look like they went out a hero.

The song was written about the public suicide of Pennsylvania state treasurer R. Budd Dwyer on January 22, 1987, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Dwyer had been convicted of bribery charges in December 1986, and was expected to receive a lengthy sentence from U.S. District Court Judge Malcolm Muir. Professing his innocence and decrying the legal system, Dwyer shot and killed himself with a .357 Magnum revolver during a live televised press conference.

Damnnn off of bribery charges? Our politicians used to have some semblance of decency

Part of what made it so memorable - an inspired the song - is that school was cancelled that day so a bunch of kids were watching the press conference.

Imagine such a thing as criminal charges for a US politician today. Different times.
