Just needs an edit with more believable names. Nobody’s called their baby girl Agnes for probably 500 years unless she was born as an elderly woman.
Wait until they get to pineapples...

Agnieszka is not that uncommon a name, and it could be shortened to Agnes.
Potatos_are_not_friends@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Um Agnes is short for Agnintendo Entertainment System.
Voyajer@lemmy.world 1 year ago
I know a couple named Bob and Agnes. They’re in their mid 60s iirc.
andxz@lemmy.world 1 year ago
lol what? It’s a fairly common name in all the Nordic countries at the very least, and fairly sure in Britain as well. The post is obviously American, but that name is not an uncommon one.
Anecdotally I know of at least three, two adults and one just starting school.

I’d suggest that a couple replies here took my response too literally but don’t want to have to come back and explain that I’m not accusing anybody of stealing.
De_Narm@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Too be fair, I really like the name - you just gotta french it up! (Agnès; ɑɲˈɛs)
But I guess Bravely Default was not as popular as I’d like and I’ve never heard the french version elsewhere.

Name your daughter Agnes, get some BDSM revenge. Seems legit.
Unforeseen@sh.itjust.works 1 year ago
And the fact they took the time to fix the autocorrect not capitalizing the words spelled out for BDSM. If you are angry it’s not happening.

It’s amazing what toxic assholes say to try to “prove” that posts are fake. I wish you and everyone else would have left that dumb, cynical shit at Reddit.

I mean if a grown man doesn’t know what that term means it’s certainly not his child’s fault. like fuck.
Mango@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Honestly yeah. This is pretty much required life knowledge now. They should teach it in school!

I always want this to be genuine every time I see it. Sounds plausible enough.

That would be absolutely hilarious to tell people that they should put pineapples upside down in their shopping cart so they don’t roll around.

Supposedly, I heard it off-hand somewhere, don’t even remember to be honest.

So that’s why pineapple aren’t seasonal anymore.

How… can someone genuinely now know what bdsm stands for? That’s honestly just baffling.
dependencyinjection@discuss.tchncs.de 1 year ago
Shocking but not everybody knows everything.
Pop quiz:
- ASL (Not American Sign Language)
- Sounding
- TCP/IP
- What does the K stand for when referring to the music of Mozart
- IATA
decisivelyhoodnoises@sh.itjust.works 1 year ago
You don’t know the age of the other person
Xylight@lemdro.id 1 year ago
Idk people usually don’t care enough to go out of their way to research a term like that
TheCheddarCheese@lemmy.world 1 year ago
it’s a bit of a thing with me
blind3rdeye@lemm.ee 1 year ago
No one is born knowing what those letters stand for. In fact, people don’t even know what letters or words are when they are born. So obviously there must be a point in each person’s life when they go from not knowing to knowing. That will happen at different time for different people, depending on who they talk to and what their interests are.
If you want to better understand how someone can not know what bdsm stands for, perhaps you should just reflect on something you’ve learnt recently. Anything at all. Just think about how you didn’t know it, but now you do. That’s how to works.
