I wonder how nvidia’s PR department is feeling about the popularity of this meme…
Am I too late?

Apparently they’re going for the “You’re all wrong” defense.

Do you think they’re telling developers to make a slider in new games’ graphics settings?DLSS5 <All characters emo eyeshadow------Goth mommies------Squidward abomination------Everyone Is Jensen------stick figures>
Quetzalcutlass@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Stop, you’re starting to make it sound appealing.
Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Background characters disappear at low settings, reappear but hotter^1 at higher settings. Nude at DLSS5 Premium setting.
- “Hotter” as defined by Jensen Huang and hotness judging expert Mark Zuckerberg.

This is perfect, OP.
For those unleashed uninitiated, it’s called ecce homo, I believe. There’s a great background at Wikipedia as usual

Ecce homo qui est faba

The mockery here is cruel. It took them like 3 hours to finish the shading on the upper lip.

You just activated neurons in my brain that hadn’t fired in 20 years

Can’t believe they left out the nunchucks tho
percent@infosec.pub 2 weeks ago
Jokes aside, I still can’t believe the disaster in that image. I’m pretty sure I could have done a better job with that painting, and I’m far from qualified for that job.
Dearth@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
What’s wild is that they’ve decided to keep “monkey jesus” for its cultural significance. The painting could be professionally restored but it will remain that way forever
Schmuppes@lemmy.today 2 weeks ago
It’s widely agreed upon that the original fresco was not particularly valuable. It’s not like somebody messed up the Mona Lisa or a Rembrandt. If I ever happen to be in the area, I’m definitely going to see the thing in person. It’s become quite a tourist magnet, and the village is happy about it.

And drew far more visitors than it did before

I invite anyone curious enough to look up the history behind that restoration.
While it is certainly an attempt it was one born out of love and imo people are just either ignorant (understandably tho) or outright cruel.
Rural Spain is full of historical monuments in ruins and falling to dust because nobody cares. Not the state nor the church. Here at least someone did, ffs.
It gets me emottional because the ammount of hate that poor old woman got for genuinely trying to do good in her community.

Nope, its perfect!
foodandart@lemmy.zip 3 weeks ago
LOL! Yeah, that’s about it…
On the other hand, thank you for posting this picture. I actually just spent 15 minutes going down the Ecce Homo rabbit hole. What a story, this disaster of a restoration turned into an absolute boon for the town.
TheMinions@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 weeks ago
Same!
I had no idea the woman actually was in the middle of her restoration, left for a two week holiday, and came back to a verifiable shit storm.
Exusia@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
She recently passed away too. Its interesting to see that the town get more popular as a result of it and she became a mini-celebrity despite the outcry of hate for the new painting by the international community.
SlurpingPus@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
I mean, no restoration that I’ve seen is done like that, by repainting over large swathes of the original.
wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 2 weeks ago
It’s like that scene from Mr. Bean. Or was it Johnny English?
foodandart@lemmy.zip 2 weeks ago
Hmmm. Not sure of which scene, but anything with Rowan Atkinson is valid!
Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Pretty sure it was that Mr Bean movie where he goes to America. I think the premise was Bean was accompanying a painting from England (they sent him to get rid of him for a while) and at some point he gets something on the painting, tries to clean it, and paint comes off, too. Then he fixes it and his host either starts crying or trying to attack him.
