I love this. It’s like Cow Tools for Twitter. No one is sure what’s going on but there’s some semblance or parallel of a known cultural reference.
The time has come!

At this point, the world is so fragmented that you can put anything, no matter how absurd, out there and claim that it's "the latest thing."

I don’t know. In the Netherlands they do beschuit met muisjes, maybe somewhere else they’re heating up cubes?
outhouseperilous@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 days ago
Nope, you basically get it.
x4740N@lemmy.world 3 days ago
I don’t get it

I think that’s the point, I think it’s the kind of surrealist meme where you present some random thing in a way that it looks like it could be a reference to something but really isn’t.

Nobody tell Picasso, he hated those things. Guy was a notorious cubist.

simplejack@lemmy.world 3 days ago
How are so many people confused in this thread?
Did y’all grow up with cold cubes or something?
moosetwin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 days ago
yeah, I was so poor growing up that we had to put a tray of water in the freezer to get our cubes
drspawndisaster@sh.itjust.works 2 days ago
From what I hear that’s actually the best way to do it. It only takes a few extra seconds and you don’t have to wear out your fridge and do weird plumbing shit. I have an ice dispenser now and it spills ice everywhere sometimes, and just randomly doesn’t have any ice to give me occasionally. And it shorts out the entire damn room or some shit sometimes so I have to lean into a crevice almost behind the fridge to press a button on the wall at ankle height to reset everything. If I don’t notice, everything in the kitchen stops working until i do notice, including the fridge which Is a very bad thing to happen for too long.

We were so poor, our cubes were merely lukewarm 😓
Empricorn@feddit.nl 2 days ago
I think I misheard them. ☹️ I’ve been heating up tubes for years!
