This one’s real en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anting_(behavior)
Dasus@lemmy.world 11 months ago
We Finns actually also practice it.
Not too common, but definitely not unheard of.
Ant hill = muurahaispesä , to sit = istuu/istua istu*
Look it up in YT I’m sure there’s more than enough results
twice_hatch@midwest.social 11 months ago
It was in Prison School so at least it’s made up human bullshit
Klear@lemmy.world 11 months ago
Isn’t that a jackdaw?
sem@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 months ago
They’re the same thing
Dasus@lemmy.world 11 months ago
Uhm, no, not the same thing.
That’s like saying “pasta” is the same as “spaghetti”. Spaghetti is pasta, like jackdaw is a crow, but “crow” is contextual. Where I live, it means the European hooded crow, but in Australia, it wouldn’t. Just like pasta can refer to spaghetti or macaroni.
A crow is a bird of the genus Corvus, or more broadly, a synonym for all of Corvus.

How do the crows avoid getting acid into their eyes?

It is imperative that the cylinder not be damaged

This is super cool and I’d definitely tuck it away for later use if I weren’t allergic to fire ant venom.
Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 11 months ago
i don’t think fire ants piss acid as a form of defense? the post is about ants that spray formic acid at scary things, not being stung.
ArsonButCute@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 months ago
Ah fuck. My bad
Nurse_Robot@lemmy.world 11 months ago
I mean they use 24 species of ants, I doubt all of them are fire ants if any at all
fyzzlefry@retrolemmy.com 11 months ago
Oh man, someone start spreading fire ants as a cure for something. This administration would be all over it.
NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 11 months ago
What administration?
Agent641@lemmy.world 11 months ago
Fire ant venom boosts testosterone levels, according to my dog
Kolanaki@pawb.social 11 months ago
If only bullet ants were a thing here, we could use those instead.
DannyBoy@sh.itjust.works 11 months ago
this administration
Based on the other comment you mean the US government? Do you just assume everyone on the internet is American?
VoteNixon2016@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 months ago
Genuine question, do other countries refer to their current government as “this administration” or “the [leader] administration”?
In my exposure to non-US political discussions, there seems to be more reference to the majority parties or coalitions, where that’s more important to politics than it is in the US with our far-too-powerful executive branch
fyzzlefry@retrolemmy.com 11 months ago
Do you know a dumber one?
Kepion@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 months ago
Although I kind of agree with you, I feel like everyone knows when someone refers to this administration as being US in relation to extremely dumb shit at this point
ryannathans@aussie.zone 11 months ago
Can we leave US politics out of the science memes
InverseParallax@lemmy.world 11 months ago
Does this joke make you feel uncomfortable?
If so, can I recommend some ants?
