In computer science, you steal the box from the psych department and put children in it so you can sell them loot crates

- Comment on Are password managers secure to use? 5 weeks ago:
I do SyncThing and KeePass.
Their URLs at time of writing are syncthing.net and keepass.info
I don’t remember which KeePass UI for Android I use. I think I use Syncthing Fork on Android
That gives me the benefits of a cloud password manager, but the only cloud infrastructure is whatever SyncThing uses to do its peer-to-peer tricks. The password database is encrypted on disk with my root password, and then it’s encrypted end-to-end in transit because every SyncThing node knows the public keys of my other nodes.
I almost never upgrade KeePass because I’m afraid of losing access to my passwords on my phone. SyncThing I do upgrade because that’s easier to fix.
If you upgrade regularly, you’re vulnerable to the project being compromised. If you never upgrade, you’re vulnerable to whatever old code is vulnerable to. Personally I err on the side of not upgrading often.
I also have my own implementation of diceware www.eff.org/dice

Well yeah key-stretching can’t do much for weak passwords

Never in my dang life have I seen a Philips actually cam out. Either the screw strips or the driver strips.
Usually both.

You can verify you have dumped a supported copy of the game by using the SHA-1 File Checksum Online at www.romhacking.net/hash/.
It’s so sad that Windows still doesn’t ship with an easy-to-use hash toolkit
- Comment on What do you think the solution to selling progressive politics to young men is ? 2 months ago:
Maybe like, one day you are gonna need the social safety net, even if you’re a very strong cis het guy.
One you’re gonna be old. One day you’re gonna be fired without notice when your car breaks down. One day your girlfriend might have a surprise pregnancy you can’t deal with.
Just brainstorming but I would start with saying, sure this doesn’t benefit you right now, cause you got the luck of the draw, but one day we will all need help

“a yearbook”
“Y” is used as a consonant sometimes, like in “Yankee” or “Yucatan”, but it’s also used as a vowel like in “fly” or “shrimply” or “Yttrium”.
“a” and “an” are chosen based on the pronounciation, not the letters, so it would be “A yearbook” or “A Yankee” but “An Yttrium bar”.
The “n” is added to avoid the difficulty of pronouncing two vowel sounds back-to-back
