(The cost was fascism)

That’s just scat, Bernie.
- Comment on From $30 parmigianas to $15 pints, can Australia still afford the pub? 3 days ago:
Beer was the last thing I expected to be bonkers expensive over here. In England you’d have to get a poncy Belgian wheat beer at 15% strength to pay equivalent to 15 bucks.

Great cars.
- Comment on Swiss officials not following EU use of burner phones for US travel 4 days ago:
Normal countries should start doing this too for US visitors so we can find out who really killed JFK.

I notice they didn’t say it was any good.

How did I get here?
- Comment on Liz Truss to launch her own ‘uncensorable’ social media platform 5 days ago:
Maybe it’s an embezzlement wheeze and they can claim expenses money and have the sole exployee be a vibe coder family member?
- Comment on Liz Truss to launch her own ‘uncensorable’ social media platform 5 days ago:
Hopefully the Morris dancers did a display at the opening speech.

Apparently not though.

UK tech is always invented by weirdo boffins in a shed so they also told everyone in the local how it works.
- Comment on This is real 5 days ago:
They’re already openly saying there will never be another administration after this, either one way or another.
- Comment on Localization note: the Australian liberal party is right wing 1 week ago:
I always wondered what words meant.
- Comment on I can't believe it 1 week ago:
I’m not a fan of mushy peas. Swap it and the gravy out for some Irish-style curry sauce and now we’re talking.
- Comment on I can't believe it 1 week ago:
Almost makes me wish I could abide mushy peas. If I did I would finally be allowed to return to the North.
- Comment on What are the odds of a person getting poisoned by food delivery driver? How would the odds change if the person is a public figure (such as Twitch Streamers)? 1 week ago:
I’d suggest not doing it as someone might remember this post and put two-and-two together.
- Comment on AI isn’t ready to replace human coders for debugging, researchers say 1 week ago:
I’m actually quite enjoying watching the LLM evangelists fall into the trough of despair after their initial inflated expectations of what they thought stochastic text generation would achieve for the business.
- Comment on Do you use your blinker in a car? 1 week ago:
That’s fair though if it’s a keep right situation as it’d be fair to expect you to move in as soon as you safely can.
- Comment on Do you use your blinker in a car? 1 week ago:
Audi driver huh? For most they’re non-optional when about to manoeuvre, except in the turn-only lane situation you mentioned where you don’t need it (it’d actually potentially signal a lane change).
- Comment on Approving US-made cars would make UK roads less safe 2 weeks ago:
Even the Torygraph is against this. Huge utes seem to be used around here to tow boats a reasonable amount, but I still reckon a classic landrover would do a better job.
- Comment on UK creating ‘murder prediction’ tool to identify people most likely to kill 2 weeks ago:
Is it an online multiple-choice quiz that tells you which fictional serial killer you are?
- Comment on UK creating ‘murder prediction’ tool to identify people most likely to kill. 2 weeks ago:
Is it still people who had lead in their tap water when they were a child?
- Comment on Trump Threatens 104% Tariffs on China as the Mad King Plays Chicken With the Global Economy 2 weeks ago:
Liz Truss did less damage than this and we had her in the stocks in Trafalgar Square in under a week.
- Comment on Percy Pig’s US adventure may be short-lived as M&S responds to Trump tariffs 2 weeks ago:
I’d rather be a pig than a fascist.
- Comment on Why does Britain feel so poor? 2 weeks ago:
It is poor. The City bled billions/trillions of pounds out of the economy into tax havens for decades, and the GFC and COVID accelerated the process.
- Comment on Ninja sword owners will be paid to surrender weapons before ban 3 weeks ago:
It just occurred to me maybe the headline is about sword-owners who are ninjas, which totally changes the meaning.
- Comment on WH Smith name to disappear from High Street after sale 3 weeks ago:
Weird to think there won’t be W H Smiths on the high street where I used to go and read the magazines for free as a lad, but there’s still going to be one at the station near where I work in Melbourne.
