Jeep Ducking started in 2020. I feel like I’m being Mandela Effected because I would’ve sworn that I’ve seen them my whole life.

Jeep ducking certainly sounds more like some sexual kink explained in the urban dictionary.
ZeffSyde@lemmy.world 6 months ago
Its kind of like a Boise Corn-dog, but it requires jumper cables and four cinder blocks instead of two.

TIL that was a thing

Fuckin hell that whole article is just SEO keywording

You have seen the your whole life, it’s just recently that it’s become a fadand widespread.
There was a guy who had a whole row of little themed rubber ducks he got at conventions who lived in the same apartment complex as me growing up.
juliebean@lemm.ee 6 months ago
thank you for sharing that article cause i had never heard of this and was completely confused.

When do you ever catch Miata owners being obnoxious? They’re always the most chill drivers.
It’s the RAM and F-150 drivers that leave their high beams on all the damn time.
yamapikariya@lemmyfi.com 6 months ago
Just to clarify. The button in the picture is the popup headlights button. We Miata owners spam it
ThrowawaySobriquet@lemmy.world 6 months ago
If I knew it could make me this happy, I’d buy a Jeep so fuckin fast

The Grand Cherokee WK honestly isn’t a bad car, there are just some design choices that really show how Jeep was pushing itself in two different directions at the time.
ikidd@lemmy.world 6 months ago
I have a number of Grand Cherokees (including a WK), and modded /r/grandcherokee for 15 years as an enthusiast.
The WK was the last one that I would call somewhat offroad capable, before they completely Fiatized the line. It’s not as easily modded for good offroad capability since it has IFS instead of a front live axle like the predecessor models, but still had a fairly robust 4WD system and you could add lockers, rear disconnects, etc. The engine options were kind of anemic, though. Lots of room in the back if you pulled the seats for camping, etc.

I thought I was seeing the same jeep over and over, but no… Most of them have a whole row of ducks all of a sudden

I drive the company vehicle, a Wrangler, for deliveries. It’s very funny to flip off the Wrangler drivers who wave at me like I’m part of their dumb club.
antidote101@lemmy.world 6 months ago
Why be a dick about it when you can just ignore them. Seems like they’re just trying to communicate in a way that’s generally experienced as nice.
Like I get it, it’s easy to get annoyed at people trying to “make” you participate in an imaginary and kinda lame social behaviour… But like, being a dick on purpose probably does you more damage than them
No one likes someone whose rude for the sake of being rude, or an edgelord, even being a contrarian just for the sake of it isn’t the greatest characteristic.
Better to find a stable calm attitude that doesn’t require that… And if it’s a way to blow off steam, better to find ways that are more in your own domain of control, rather than having it controlled by an external trigger.
Something to give thought to next time your driving jeep anyways.

It’s rare I do it but it’s like junk food. Sometimes the shitty thing to do feels so right.
GBU_28@lemm.ee 6 months ago
What a oddly negative response to someone just being nice
Exusia@lemmy.world 6 months ago
“You best start believing in dumb clubs, wrangler driver! YOU’RE IN ONE!”

Don’t make me face the truth it’s uncomfortable and scary 😭

They’re not waving at you. They’re waving at the Jeep.

Could also be a software developer who misunderstood the concept of rubber duck debugging.

I’m a jeep owner and have a huge one. maybe like 6 or 7 inches!
MxM111@kbin.social 6 months ago
They stole the rubber duck from truckers. That won’t end well.
Kernal64@sh.itjust.works 6 months ago
I’m pretty sure they bought the rubber ducks at stores or online.
ikidd@lemmy.world 6 months ago
All truckers have is piss bottles and nobody wants those.
MxM111@kbin.social 6 months ago
Just checking if you watched the movie convoy which I was referencing.
Kolanaki@yiffit.net 6 months ago
So this is a thing? I’ve seen it a couple times. I’ve also found various rubber ducks in parking lots and now I know why.
JoeBigelow@lemmy.ca 6 months ago
