I never applied a value judgement.
The suggestion that European courts are universally free from manipulation, political meddling or influence is a fairytale. They are leagues better than US courts in this regard, but again we can be sure a megacorp like apple is pulling every lever at their disposal
- Comment on Bloomberg - Apple Says No Major App Developers Accept New Outside Payments 1 hour ago:
I’m not saying it’s not an issue, my point is apple has access to the highest talent and legal advice. There’s no way they are unaware of the realities.
We can be sure they employ European law staff themselves.
Conclusion being their actions are attempts to move the window on these types of law. They are aware of the existing status quo, but are driving to advance it.
- Comment on Bloomberg - Apple Says No Major App Developers Accept New Outside Payments 2 hours ago:
Wait are you suggesting apple doesn’t have the legal staff to be aware of regional concerns/practices?

None of that beats cico, it addresses other concerns.
I clearly identified mental health as the critical issue, and to restate: the reason people fail at cico is due to mental health. People can’t create energy and therefore weight from thin air.
- Comment on Overweight people more likely to take sick leave, European study finds 5 hours ago:
How has cico been different? The mental health component is the real issue. Disproving cico would mean humans create perpetual energy.
If you lock someone in a room and only given them only water, they will lose weight. (Set aside vitamins)
Then try a single spoonful of rice a day. Still lose weight.
Continue to increase food, you’ll find eventually they maintain a consistent weight. Continue to increase food and eventually they will gain weight, as they will be consuming more calories than they burn.

Obesity is a serious risk factor for many, many conditions. It is not always the cause, but it never helps.
Folks with obesity need better healthcare, which is massively underserved in the west (and everywhere, for everyone).
Nothing beats CI/CO ever, no excuses, nowhere in the universe. It’s thermodynamics.
The primary issue is mental health, and it is a very serious issue Indeed.

- Use paragraphs. Walls of text are not easily readable.
- Using particularly declarative language has consequences. Better not to use such statements if you need 2 bit replies to defend/explain it.
- Comment on How ‘Zionist’ became a slur on the US left 16 hours ago:
My point was gating significant or actionable injustices to only those occurring recently means all sorts of past injustices are de facto tabled by that position. For example, should slavery from the civil war era, or the colonialism of North America still be discussed and addressed? No one alive witnessed that
- Comment on Overweight people more likely to take sick leave, European study finds 16 hours ago:
Well, with respect to everyone, there’s a group of folks who believe in “health at any weight”. That’s an issue
- Comment on How ‘Zionist’ became a slur on the US left 17 hours ago:
I’d be careful with the “living memory” argument. Lots of pretty recent colonialism and atrocity occurred outside of “living memory”

- Comment on Never make the mistake of visiting a community for your favorite podcasts 1 day ago:
Yeah, there were a group of male supersoldiers (custodes) who were literally written originally to be a “brotherhood” in the early lore from the 90s, and always represented that way. They changed it in a lore shitty way, essentially saying there were women custodes all along and never addressing the original lore
Some folks were like “yo, write consistently, and if you wanna change something, just change it with new lore” and some folks were like “” ahhh fuck women! They could never hack it as my favorite character!!!"
it literally doesn’t matter because these supersoldiers are works of science fiction, so removed from reality that they are hand built by techno gene craft. There’s nothing about the setting that would make such fiction impossible

You’re not, because that’s tankie Khmer rouge shit.

My entire premise is that “we” should hope to be better than someone like him.
The society “we” want champions things like consent and respect.
Sometimes people “deserve” no respect because they have despicable behavior, but inherently “possess” certain respects due to being a human. Not being assaulted, or trapped/confined is one of those things unfortunately.
As a detached example: even mass murderers and terrorists deserve a day in court
- Comment on Peter Thiel was trapped inside a student debating hall by pro-Palestine protesters accusing him of genocide 4 days ago:
Obviously this guy is despicable. But don’t trap people. If he was scheduled to answer questions and it just so happened every question was about Palestine, that’s a different story. That’s just him having to field tough questions.
If a progressive leader was trapped by maga folks sentiment would be very different online.
Even if people are shit, they shouldn’t be trapped as that violates bodily autonomy / consent
